The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:18
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

The virtuous woman understands that what she has obtained through wisdom and integrity is good, and her candle not going out by night speaks of her assurance that the work of her hands will prove faithful through the night and again tomorrow.

It is so wonderful to recognize the virtuous woman being described by King Lemuel’s mother pointing far ahead to the church, which is the virtuous bride of Christ. As our faith remains in our Husband, Jesus Christ, and His atoning work for us at the cross, His grace causes us daily to look for His appearing (Titus 2:13), while we walk in the virtuous works He has called us unto (Ephesians 2:10, 2 Peter 3:1-5). He is about to come and take us home, rewarding each one for the work of their hands (Matthew 16:27). Oh, let us be found as the virtuous and wise virgin bride awaiting our Lord, and not the foolish who will surely be left behind. Cling to the old rugged cross so that oil may be in your lamp, and your Light will shine ahead!

Your Word for Today

“And Aaron shall make an Atonement upon the horns of it once a year with the Blood of the Sin Offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make Atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD (Ex. 30:10).

The fire of 30:7 and the blood of 30:10 teach that there can be no acceptable worship apart from Atonement. In the matter of Atonement, all worshippers stand on one common ground, and that is the Sacrifice of Christ.

The word “Atonement” means, in the Hebrew Text, “a cover”; it is not the English word “at-one-ment.” “Now our sins may all be covered with the Precious Blood He shed” (Ps. 32:1).

The Brazen Altar was for the sinner; the Brazen Laver for the Saint. The former testified of the Blood of Christ; the latter, of the Word of God. The former cleansed the conscience; the latter, the conduct.

The sons of Aaron, already cleansed, clothed, and crowned, had nevertheless to wash their hands and feet in the Laver before entering the Tabernacle or approaching the Altar. To maintain conscious fellowship with God and to be effective Ministers in Priestly service for man, the daily washing of the Word must never be neglected, lest death enter the soul.

Every Believer stands on the common ground of Calvary and the Word; in Old Testament times, the former was represented by the Brazen Altar, and the latter was represented by the Brazen Laver. Regrettably, most of the worship that is presently claimed to be unto the Lord is not based on the Atoning Work of Calvary, but rather on something else. And it doesn’t really matter what else it is, if it’s not the Cross, it’s not acceptable to God (Eph. 2:13-18).”

Bread Crumbs “The Christian Light” February 1

The hardest part of living this Christian life is not understanding “theology.” Neither is it the practice of necessary Christian disciplines, such as prayer, church attendance, giving of funds, or Bible study. While each of these has their own separate and distinct challenges, the real challenge of Christianity is to consistently display a Christ-like life. Righteous living, honesty, and kindness to others are all necessities that require the constant evaluation and control of one's person. Not only do we need to understand what should be on display in our lives but we must also be receiving the power of God that enables us to live a forthright Christian life. This power does not come from our will, our determination, or even our zealousness. But the power to do, the strength to act properly, the ability to express unfeigned love, comes only by the grace of God. Our need is the knowledge of how to receive God’s grace consistently. With our faith securely anchored in Christ and His finished work at Calvary, the Holy Spirit is free to supply the grace and power we require to exhibit Christ’s likeness to the world in which we exist. Only through properly placed faith and the constant reception of God's grace can our light truly shine.

John 3:21 - But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:19
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

She never ceases to serve and to work for her husband and family, which speaks of the Bride of Christ working to magnify Him, and taking care of the household of faith. Her hands hold to the distaff which is that which maintains the materials needed to make clothing and other things which require the material to be spun. She is faithful to provide that which is needed for others.

Pride is self centered, while humility is others centered, and we see the virtuous woman constantly working for the benefit of others, and reckons the joy of it all as her reward. Oh what great joy it is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, and through each temptation to slow down or to quit, we see His faithfulness for us, which is that which allows us to have the virtue we have been called unto (2 Peter 1:3-5). Praise Jesus for His everlasting love for His bride. Today we work, for tomorrow He comes!!

Your Word for Today

“When you number them . . . This they shall give, every one who passes among them who are numbered, half a Shekel after the shekel of the Sanctuary: (a shekel is 20 gerahs an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD (Ex. 30:12-13).

Whenever the people of Israel were numbered, in other words, a census taken, every person from 20 years old and above had to give a half shekel, which was, in a sense, a tax. The “shekel” was of silver; in the Old Testament, silver was a symbol of Redemption. All, whether rich or poor, had to give the same amount, signifying that Redemption, of which all of this was a type, was the same for all.

This, no doubt, is one of the reasons the Lord grew incensed with David when he numbered the people. Every evidence is that David ignored the census tax, which meant that he, in effect, was ignoring the very basis of Israel’s existence — the Shed Blood of the Lamb.

This is basically the reason that David responded as he did when he went to purchase the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite for the purpose of offering up sacrifice. The Jebusite offered it to David for nothing, but David said, “No; but I will surely buy it of you at a price: neither will I offer up Burnt Offerings unto the LORD my God of that which does cost me nothing” (II Sam. 24:24).

We are bought with a price, and that price is the Shed Blood of Jesus Christ.”

Bread Crumbs “The Evil Twins” February 22

Jealousy and envy are “twin sisters” that are very difficult to separate. It can even be hard to identify one from the other. However, they are very different and have separate nefarious goals. Jealousy says, “This is mine and I will not share it with you.” Envy says, “I see what you have and I will do anything I can to take it from you.” Both jealousy and envy emphasize an evil and selfish desire. Marriage is built upon mutual trust and respect. We are “jealous” in an appropriate way for our spouse’s affections. However, when that jealousy becomes domineering, resentful, and untrusting, then it brings great harm to the relationship. There is nothing wrong with wanting to better oneself. There is nothing wrong in taking steps to gain all that God wants to bless us with. But when envy becomes a dominating force, it can drive us towards the sin of covetousness. The grace of God holds the key to overcoming either of these two malevolent influences. Place your faith in the ability of the Holy Spirit to work in you due to Christ’s work on the Cross. You will be sure to find the joy of living free from both harmful jealousies and unseemly envy.

Song of Solomon 8:6 - Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:20
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

This virtuous woman that King Lemuel’s mother is instructing him to search for so that his life and kingship can flourish as it should, is an overall picture of the virtuous Bride of Christ. Not only does she tend to the things of her husband, her handmaids, all of her household, but even those who are poor and needy. This further’s the idea that the virtuous woman here mentioned is concerning the Church, as we are to not only to be ministering to each other, but to those outside of the faith, and those who are poor and needy.

Jesus became poor so that we could become rich with His grace and mercy. When we are learning of the grace and knowledge of our Husband, Jesus, we will begin to experience all that He died for us to be able to have. While we trust today in His sacrifice, which is what made us who we are, and has given us what we have in Him, we will learn to walk in the traits of this virtuous woman in all her ways, and will be found expressing our King more and more!

Your Word for Today

“You shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: everyone who defiles it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people (Ex. 31:14).

“My Sabbath you shall keep.” What distinguishes God’s people is participation in God’s rest. Christ is God’s rest (Heb., Chpt. 4). The honor, or dishonor, done to the Sabbath was the test under Law; the honor, or dishonor, done to Christ, the test under Grace. Death was the penalty of dishonoring the Sabbath of the Old Testament; a similar penalty attaches to dishonoring Christ, i.e., spiritual death.

The Sabbath was associated with the Manna (Ex., Chpt.16), with the giving of the Law (Ex., Chpt. 20), and with the building of the Tabernacle (Ex., Chpt. 31). Zeal in building the Tabernacle, enthusiasm in observing the Law, and energy in gathering the Manna were not permitted to disturb God’s rest.

When Christ came, He in totality fulfilled the symbolism of the Sabbath, as well as everything else which pertained to the Mosaic Law. He, as stated, is our rest. Following Him constitutes keeping the Sabbath, which no longer pertains to a special day as it did in Old Testament times, but pertains presently to every day.”

Bread Crumbs “Abandoning Impatience” February 3

We live in a “get it fast,” “I want it right now,” “hurry up and get here,” type of world. The ability to endure or wait does not seem to exist in very many hearts and lives. We have become impatient and spoiled, expecting every issue of our lives to be resolved almost instantly. As Christians, we must come to understand that the most outstanding things in life take time to build and develop. We do not become everything God wants us to become by getting everything we want, every time we think we need it. In fact, being forced to wait sometimes reveals the truth that we are far better off without that which we initially desired. God takes us on life’s journey step-by-step, line by line, here a little and there a little. He builds us piece by piece into a lively stone, established in His truth and through the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit. But what He builds requires that we willingly submit to His planning and to His timing. So let impatience be abandoned! Let the turmoil of the current moment gently fade away. Learn the lessons needed and let God adequately prepare you for the blessings of His choosing. You will be glad you waited!

Hebrews 10:36 - For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:21
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

This virtuous woman which King Lemuel is being instructed by God through his mother to search for will not be controlled by fear due to the snow surrounding them in winter because the correct provision for the needed garments have been prepared ahead of time. The clothing that has been prepared for ALL her household is the clothing of scarlet. I’m sure this speaks of a certain type of material and dyes made for winter attire, but for you and me today, this speaks of the garment of righteousness which is because of the blood of Jesus being shed for us through His death.

We have been equipped and clothed with His beautiful linen garment of righteousness, therefore we are not fearful of not having what we need in every season of our lives. We are the virtuous Bride of Christ and have been provided everything we need through His sacrifice, therefore let us be found walking in every good (2 Timothy 2:21, Titus 3:1, Hebrews 13:21) work we have been called to. Praise be to the Lamb of God today and forever.

Your Word for Today

“And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt (Ex. 32:4).

Moses was on top of the mountain, dealing with Heavenly things, while, at the foot of the mountain, Aaron and the people sat at the feet of Satan, admiring a golden calf, and dancing and singing around it. The Devil can make men dance and sing, or writhe and scream, if either action can oppose or dishonor Christ.

The calf was the great god of the Egyptians. It was carried in the vanguard of their processions. Sacrifices were offered to it, and lascivious dances executed in its honor. It was worshipped as the generator of life.

People who are ignorant of the brute condition of fallen man’s heart think it incredible that men and women who passed through the Red Sea, who daily looked upon the pillar of fire, who heard the Voice of God, and who witnessed the sublime terrors of Mount Sinai, could possibly have fallen, and in so short a time, into such gross idolatry. The Apostle Paul did not share this incredulity, for he declares that these facts admonish the Church (I Cor., Chpt. 10).

Moses had gone up on high, but because he delayed to return, Israel made a god they could see. So it is today. Christendom prefers a human priest and a little piece of bread that may be seen and handled to the Divine Priest Who has passed into the Heavens.

One of the depths of Satan is not to abolish God, but to represent Him by something visible. Hence the feast of Exodus 32:5 was proposed as a feast to Jehovah. Also Satan can, through a religious teacher like Aaron, associate idolatry with Christ, recognize the good in all religions, and provide a worship that appeals to man’s natural heart. In fact, everything, as it regards the golden calf, was done by Aaron under the cover of “religion.”

As someone has well said, “The doing of religion is the most powerful narcotic in the world.” Anything and everything that departs from Christ and the Cross must be constituted as mere religion (Williams).”

Its interesting that Jacob saw angels before he wrestled with Jesus all night and won till he was hurt and he was old and in his 90's...its also interesting that all he did to get blessings God honored and that the nation Israel gets their name from him....Lot TAKES a bad wrap sometimes too...but it says in the NT that righteous Lot was vexed day by day by the deeds of the wicked...you see...it takes a full look....Jacob God blessed much...so really it's not too Good to give him a bad wrap....

The fact that 5 of 7 churches has to repent in Rev 2 and 3...and that the last church would be lukewarm is why the end will come...for the truth is lost on many...if Christians spend there time arguing over all these heresies it's strange that everyone here thinks they are saved and we are taking the truth and also arguing the lies if Satan on all these issues today!!!

Bread Crumbs “Servants of Righteousness” February 4

God was forced to separate from Adam and Eve after their disobedience in the garden of Eden. His Holy Presence could not stay in fellowship with the sinful condition of His highest creation. Man fell to such a devastating extent that it was impossible for him to ever attain to the level of righteousness required for relationship with God. Even the giving of the law failed to provide a consistent means to righteousness. When Jesus came, He established a standard of righteousness that far exceeded the Mosaic law. Jesus Himself is the new covenant standard of righteousness. He offers His righteousness to every believer, in exchange for faith expressed in His person as Savior and Lord. His exceeding surpassing righteousness swallows up the law as a lesser standard of righteousness. His righteousness does not destroy the law. His righteousness fulfills it. He willingly imputes His righteousness to every believer, making relationship with God possible again. Faith and grace enable the believer to become a servant to the righteous standards established by the person of Christ. These demands far exceed the righteous demands of the law. As a Christian, we are servants of righteousness. We are to live holy by the means of faith and grace. Press on!

Romans 6:18 - Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:22
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
...
This virtuous woman we are reading about in the last chapter of Proverbs I believe to be a picture of the Bride of Christ, as all the descriptions of her integrity, honor and hard work only reflect her love for her king. She recognizes not only her blessed state, but without end desires everyone else that her life touches to be blessed as well. This is the very spirit of Christ, and what His work on the cross reveals to us. He did everything that He did for others. This same Spirit that was in Christ, our great and mighty King, is within us today.

We have been given all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3), but not to selfishly pile up for ourselves, but to see that others are blessed as well. Her clothing is silk and purple, which speaks of the royalty of her King and her family. She doesn’t dress to boast in who she is, but rather that others will see the blessings of grace that flow through her life with virtue. Everyone of us as God’s children have been called unto virtue (2 Peter 1:3-5), and though our lives will be very different materially, who we are and what we have in our Lord Jesus Christ is the same, and we are called to walk in these good and virtuous works (Ephesians 2:10).

Your Word for Today

“If his offering be a Burnt Sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD (Lev. 1:3).

There were five great Offerings in the Levitical Law: the Burnt Offering, the Meal Offering, the Trespass Offering, the Peace Offering, and the Sin Offering (Lev. Chpts. 1-7). God only accepted such Offerings as He Himself ordained. The worshipper, imperfect and sinful in himself, was accepted in the perfection of the Offering. The conscience under the old Levitical Law being a reflection of the Sacrifice remained imperfect because Levitical Sacrifices were imperfect. Christ’s Sacrifice being perfect gives a perfected conscience; therefore, a peace that nothing can destroy.

The Burnt Offering typified Christ offering Himself without spot to God. It was a voluntary Offering. So Christ delighted to do God’s Will. He laid down His Life of Himself. Therefore, it is that the victim was a male without blemish. This signified the spotless Perfection of Christ’s Manhood. The entire Sacrifice was burned on the Altar; that is, it was wholly for God. Such was the devotion of Christ’s Heart.

The skin of the Sacrifice was given to the Priests. Only the mere surface of Christ’s offering up of Himself to God can be apprehended by the Believer. The infinite depths of that great surrender are beyond human understanding.

The inwards of the Sacrifice were washed with water, so Christ’s Emotions, as well as His Ways and Words, when judged by the Word of God, were found to be sinless. With respect to Him, all within and without had no blemish. Therefore, Faith in Him Alone and what He did for us at the Cross brings about acceptance by God.”
