Bread Crumbs “Rising Above Fear” August 11

No one lives a completely fear free life. The Bible proclaims that fear is something that all men will experience. What we must learn to do as people of faith is to conquer fear whenever it dares to raise its ugly head. If fear is allowed to remain in our hearts and in our minds, it can produce all manner of negative results. A person can become paralyzed by fear. At other times, a person might try to eliminate what they fear with a hasty and inappropriate response. Neither reaction is Biblical or correct. The proper counterattack to the experience of fear is to call upon God. As we continually express faith in the person of our God, who has promised to meet our every need, perfect peace that passes all understanding can arrive to eliminate the fear we are experiencing. When fear makes its unwelcome way into our lives, address it by taking the perceived threat to your Heavenly Father and placing that need into His very capable hands. Then fight the good fight of faith and believe that your Heavenly Father is at work supplying you with all that is needed to overcome whatever situation threatens you. I am glad that I serve a God that can do anything but fail.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 4:2
But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

Paul is here reminding the Galatians that even Israel was under tutors and governors, which referred to them being under the Law of God until it was time for God’s Son to come because the Law could not save anyone (Romans 8:3). These are just a few of the things we need to be aware of when we are attempting to trust in Law/self, which is exactly what we are doing when we are trusting in anything other than Christ and His Cross. The following is what the Law is and does.

Rom 3:19 Speaks only to those under the curse
Rom 4:15 Works Wrath
Rom 7:4 Was our first husband
Rom 7:5 Stirs up the sin nature; sets sin in motion
Rom 7:12 Is Holy
Rom 7:14 Is Spiritual
Rom 8:3 Cannot make anyone righteous
1 Cor 15:56 Strengthens sin
2 Cor 3:9 Is a ministry of condemnation
2 Cor 3:14-16 Blinds unless Christ is seen in it
Gal 3:12 Is not of faith
Gal 3:23 Was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ
Gal 3:23 Binds us and isolates us from the faith
Gal 5:18-21 Causes the fruit of the flesh which is corruption
Gal 5:18 Will never be the direction the Holy Spirit leads for Righteousness

Jesus is our Righteousness through His Righteous work at the cross (Isaiah 32:17, Galatians 2:21), and Paul wanted the Galatians to see this, for when we see this Truth, Righteousness is shown to us (Proverbs 12:17), and when we believe this Truth, we are found serving God in His Righteousness and not our own which is as filthy rags before Him (Isaiah 64:6, Titus 3:5). Oh the wondrous Saving Grace of Jesus Christ!

Naturally speaking the fiery furnace should’ve killed the 3 Hebrew boys, but there was a 4th man(Jesus) in the Fire with them! This fire(trial) will NOT kill you, because that same 4th man is with you!! Praise your way through this!!

Bread Crumbs “Preach the Gospel” August 12

I wonder at times what might be done for the kingdom of God if Christians would focus their time and their energy solely on the presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. How many hours do we spend commenting or reading on social media? How much effort do we put into our favorite social activities? How much time do we spend on leisure or sport? In this busy rush everywhere world in which we live, we have so many choices. We choose how to spend our money. We choose how to spend our time. We choose to promote this personal agenda or that personal program. I have to wonder what might be done for the cause of Christ if we gave ourselves wholeheartedly to the single task of presenting the Gospel? Sadly, I'm afraid that that just might be the last item on the agenda of many who claim Christ as their Savior. The great commission was the very last thing Jesus told the believers to attend to before ascending back to the Father. Should we not be about the Master’s business? What are you doing to promote the marvelous knowledge of Jesus Christ to a lost world and a hurting church … today?

Mark 16:15 - And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 4:3
Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

Even so “WE”, meaning us Jewish people, Paul would explain, because they were under the Law and could only function UNDER the elements of the world. Even the true and faithful among Israel throughout all the Old Covenant years, could only go to Paradise when they died, for God was never pleased with the blood of animals (Hebrews 10:4). The Law threw a shadow over Israel of good things to come, which would be when Christ would come, therefore why go back to trusting in only that which is a shadow, which will surely will bring us into the bondage UNDER the elements of the world?

Jesus ushered in a new priesthood and a new Law (Hebrews 7:12), where He is the Great High Priest forever operating now by the Law of the Spirit of Life In Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2). Everything that God does among His people is done through His Spirit by this new Law or it is only our flesh attempting to get things done, and we can be held in the same bondage UNDER the elements of the world as Israel of old. It is so much better today to live in liberty and freedom according to the New Covenant which is not type and shadows, but rather the very experience and expression of Eternal Life in Christ Jesus!

Bread Crumbs “Abiding” August 13

The Christian is called to abide in Christ. There is no valid argument against the fact that “abiding” is the responsibility of every Christian. The problem Christians face is understanding what the term ”abide” truly means. It is impossible to accomplish the command to abide if we do not have the proper understanding of its meaning. Some people believe and teach that the term abiding indicates the doing of Christian activities. For them, the idea of praying, reading, church attendance, fasting, tithing, and other Biblical actions is understood as abiding. But abiding does not really deal with the work that a Christian accomplishes. Instead, abiding describes resting and trusting in the provision that has previously been established. It has the indication of making one's self at home. Put your feet up! Put your comfortable clothes on! Enjoy the setting. Relish the relationship provided. Freely receive! Abide! Abiding does not indicate that someone needs to earn a position or condition by works. Abiding holds the idea of consistently receiving benefits that have already been secured because of a position granted. Therefore, abiding in Christ is as simple as making oneself at home within the confines and covenant protection of the finished work of Christ.

John 15:4 - Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 4:4
But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

But when the fullness of “The Time” came, refers to making everything complete, which can only happen “In Christ” (Colossians 2:10) for all things are of Him, through Him and to Him (Romans 11:36). Jesus Christ is the First and the Last (Revelation 1:8, 11, 21:6, 22:13), but the First and the Last what? He is the First Word and the Last Word of God, and all that has any expression of Him is according to His Word being carried out in and through those who have His Spirit through faith in His work on the cross.

Jesus is God’s Son, God The Son. He was made of a woman, which means the Virgin Mary carried Him in her womb, although He was not reproduced after man by Joseph, but rather He was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18) as the Seed of the woman promised in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:15), and prophesied about 800 years previously by the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 7:14). Jesus was made under the Law, referring to His coming to complete this age with His Redemptive work at the cross as the perfect Last Adam who would be found fully obedient to the Law and without sin. He would represent in death the entirety of the human race who were dead in God’s eyes in their sins (2 Corinthians 5:14). Jesus declared the fullness of times from the Cross when He cried, “It is Finished.” Hallelujah!!

Bread Crumbs “The Purity of Christ” August 14

There was one, born of a woman, born under the law, who traveled through the entirety of His life and never failed in any aspect of obedience to the Holy law of God. This man never stumbled; not in action, not in spirit, not in thought, nor in deed. He traveled the common pathway of men and faced a far more strident opposition from spirits of darkness than any other man before Him or since. He was tempted in all points as we are but never one time gave in, gave out, groveled, or gestured an improper response to any created being. He was and is the perfect, pure, peaceful, and all powerful one. At the peak of His purity He chose to lay down his perfection on the altar of sacrifice and pay the price for man’s redemption through the spilling of His innocent, blameless, and undefiled blood. He willingly gave His life to pay the price for every man’s sin. He gave His purity for the impure. He offers His perfection to the imperfect masses of humanity. And now, whosoever will can have the stain of sin forever eliminated by simply, in faith, calling upon His name; the name of Jesus!

Hebrews 7:26 - For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 4:5
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Even as it is appointed for all men once to die then comes the judgment (Hebrews 9:27), even so Jesus was commanded to come and to die once (John 10:18) for all men (Hebrews 2:9) who were dead in their sins (2 Corinthians 5:14). We who are Gentiles (Not of Jewish descent), and not raised up under the Laws of Israel do not escape the reality of being bound under Law (Romans 2:14-15) before we are born again.

Jesus came at the appointed time of the Father to bring home all those who would believe on Him and it is those who have received the adoption of sons and daughters. Again, let us not move away from the context of why the Lord is writing this letter through the Apostle Paul. The Galatians (Saved and filled with the Spirit) were leaving “The Faith”, which is an exclusive faith in Christ and His atoning work at the cross, and they were going back under Law. This is where the Sin Nature dominates all men. Under Grace is where we are in agreement with God and His Way (Romans 6:14), and His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Oh the wondrous Cross of Jesus Christ which brings to us all of God’s provision!

Bread Crumbs “Do Over” August 15

Have you ever had a day that you wish you could forget? You know, that span of time that you did the wrong thing, made the wrong decision, or made the wrong move! How many times have you thought in your mind, I sure would like to have a chance to do that all over again? I would sure appreciate the ability to have another opportunity to get that situation right, to handle that occasion with a different spirit or attitude. I am so glad that with God I can start each and every day anew. Take personal responsibility for your actions of yesterday and confess your faults to God. Apologize to anyone you hurt and ask their forgiveness for any hurt intentionally or unintentionally delivered. Why wait? You can start again right now! By placing your faith securely in Christ Jesus and what He did for you at Calvary, every unsightly yesterday can be placed strategically in the seas of God’s forgiveness and His willingness to forget. You can climb out over your mistakes of the past and move onward towards a great day in Christ. God is the only one who is able to give you a “do over!” So, go for it!

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 4:6
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Because we have believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice at the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, we have become Children of God. Only those who are “In Christ by faith” are the Children of God (Galatians 3:26), as everyone else is only a part of the creation of God. Those who have believed upon Christ have received The Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of The Son of God, causing us to cry out to God, who is now our Heavenly Father.

We have received the Spirit of God so that we can know the things that are FREELY given to us (1 Corinthians 2:12). This is one way we know when we or others are, or are not being led by the Spirit. When we think, or are being taught, that we have to do anything other than maintain our faith in Christ and His work at Calvary, it is not the Spirit of God. Everything the Lord has for His Children was paid for at Calvary, and our work is only to believe upon Christ (John 6:28-29). This will be the fight of our lives, but it is a fight that cannot be lost if we will only continue to fight (1 Timothy 6:12). The Holy Spirit will guide us in ALL Truth (John 16:13), as this speaks of experiencing the benefits of the Truth, which is the person and the work of Jesus Christ, for He is our Truth (John 14:6) and our Eternal Life!

Bread Crumbs “The Object of Faith” August 16

Whatever a believer places his faith in becomes the object of their faith. If we place our faith in the wrong object, then devastation and loss is a surety. If we place our faith in the proper object, then we will gain the supernatural benefits from doing so. If a man places his faith in a church, a religious action, or association with a particular denomination for salvation, that person will not make heaven their eternal home. The Bible teaches us that saving faith must rest solely, singularly, in the person of Christ and what He accomplished at Calvary on our behalf. Then and only then are we accepted into God's kingdom. After the initial salvation experience the Bible teaches that the object of our faith is to remain in Christ alone. It must not be in what we do or how well we perform any particular task. As our faith remains unswerving in the power of God's grace, we will experience the supernatural sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Paul determined not to preach anything other than Christ and Him Crucified so that the faith of the people he ministered to would forever remain centered upon the person and the redemptive work of Christ. What is the object of your faith?

Romans 4:5 - But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Galatians 4:7
Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Note here that anything and everything that anyone has from the Lord, is through Christ. Through Christ ALWAYS refers to one’s faith in Christ and His work at Calvary. There’s one Door between God and man, and His name is Jesus (John 10:7, 9), but the cross is the hinge which opens that Door. It takes faith in Christ and His work at Calvary on day one of our Salvation and everyday (Luke 9:23) after. The Church has been seduced and duped into believing that God is just going to do all that He does in our lives no matter what we are trusting in, which couldn’t be farther from the Truth of God’s Word, and the very reason for this letter.
Christ has come to Redeem all, because all were under the Law, and now through faith, as the Redeemed, we are no more servant’s, but Children, and if we are Children, then are we heirs of God through Christ. Being an heir of Jesus Christ is being able to benefit right now today of the things God has promised to give us freely (Romans 8:32, 1 Corinthians 2:12). Without faith again today in the Redemptive work of Christ at Calvary, the heart is not believing unto God’s Righteousness, and the measure of faith we have obtained (Romans 12:3) cannot work, for we obtained THAT faith through God’s Righteousness and our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:1). This letter to the Galatians was intended to keep a people of God in the obedience of THE TRUTH which only takes place through exclusive faith in the cross of Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:1-3). Praise the Lamb forever!
