lead singer for the grateful dead. underground bandWho was Jerry Garcia? I suppose I could google.
please read my blog on this site. It gives insight into just what worship/praise was like in the late 60's to about the mid 80's. What we see in most churches today is a far cry from what we were doing back then. btw, worship and praise are not the same thing. What were...the worship wars? I don't think google could explain that one.
Idk how I missed your Thread since yeah I go to Harvest where he is Pastor@faithlife
Can you answer some questions since you say your pastor is Greg Laurie?
I mean some have already been answered but well, you obviously know him. Was the movie accurate or exaggerated version of the story do you think? Did you meet Lonnie Frisbee? Were you one of the hippies or child of hippies?
Idk how I missed your Thread since yeah I go to Harvest where he is Pastorlol. Yes the movie does a superb job of portraying his life and the people and events surounding it. There are a few scenes what you might call dramatized though, like the one of him being baptized. He jokingly says he could never hold his breath under water that long as the movie shows lol. I'll get back tomorrow I want to read all the comments and offer hopefully more insight re the movie.
It's amazing when God has a call on your life, right? Pastor Greg was born out of wedlock and his mom was married seven times. His mother drank and would uproot him the minute she had a new lover. Actually Pastor Greg was saved by hearing Lonnie Frisbee preach at his school. Lonnie did struggle and battle with gayness but never preached in favor of it and Pastor Greg feels he certainly made amends before his death and we don't know how merciful God is, that's why we can't judge.@faithlife

I don't think it was filmed in Hollywood, more Orange County or somewhere like that, by the beach. Where the actual Calvary Chapels are.I posted about that movie yesterday to watch .it still Hollywood but it's about true church movement I'm from like the end era of that out pouring of the Spirit
Still Hollywood is a term used for Christ movies onlyI don't think it was filmed in Hollywood, more Orange County or somewhere like that, by the beach. Where the actual Calvary Chapels are.
I wonder how they let a movie crew film inside a church, and whether the extras in it were all Christians.
Greg Laurie has no brothers or sisters and the baptism scenes were filmed at the original site during the Jesus revolution, in OC Pirate's Cove. Some trivia, the church scenes in the movie are thought to be actual Christians while the baptism scenes included some unsaved people who made decisions for Christ that day. Good thing they were at the beach that day lol.Greg Laurie must have been the first born to his mother, before she got married 7 times, as he was born out of wedlock
Did Greg have any brothers and sisters?

Also, Chuck Smith's wife, Kate, later stated she had been praying for the hippies around them and in particular one group that walked past their home almost every day, that included Pastor Greg LaurieThe power of prayers wow!
