Wow when mine fell apart I tried gluing it together with PVA, or using scotch tape.
Couldn't really take much more so managed to find a new one. But I sort of stick with the same version, I mean I don't go get all the updates like the NIV or the NKJV or whatever New ones are out there.

But if they had a complete NZV I might be interested.

It's a good sign when a person wears out their Bible to the point they need to glue/tape it up so it doesn't fall apart.

I remember this one on one of the lecterns inside the hospital chapel. This might be Title page I forget what the cover was like as it was open to gospel of John..was it KJV? It was a giant oversized Bible like what churches used to have. Not a pocket or normal sized Bible for individual readers

I remember this cover..wasn't really sure of the translation though it just had most of the names in Hebrew (in the NT) and Yiddish references. Eg Adonai for the Lord and Yeshua for Jesus. Shalom for peace

Love the colour inlay pattern and the Lapis Lazuli blue cover really stands out from all the other Bibles

The Penguin Classic paperback edition

images-36.jpg

Who said Penguins weren't Christians? Cover looks a bit battered and torn obviously they didn't duraseal it/cover it with plastic like most libraries would have done with paperbacks.

An Ethipion Bible in English? Shouldn't it be ...in Ethipion? It seems very gilded..and embellished.
It is available in large and extra large print too.

Then there's the book, The Garima Gospels: Early Illuminated Gospel Books from Ethiopia, edited by Judith McKenzie, Francis Watson, and others.

The Garima Gospels are ancient Ethiopian Gospel manuscripts containing the four canonical Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

I recall many Christians were warning against reading this Bible

images-41.jpg

Because it was a paraphrase not actually a genuine translation into English, and used a lot of slang

But churches still quoted or read from it anyway.

To me when it is referenced as MSG, it just reminds me of Monosodium Glutamate. Tasty, but terribly bad for you and gives people headaches if they have too much.

This is actually a full Bible with pictures in Easy-to-Read version.

images-42.jpg

The cartoony pictures I suppose meant to appeal to younger readers, and the text to ESL or ESOL (english for speakers of other languages, english second language) readers who find other versions too hard.

Not sure what the map is of, it doesn't look like Israel to me. Also note the treasure chest (not the ark of covenant)

images-49.jpg

Looks like the hardcover under the dust jacket is refencing this famous Japanese illustration...as the parting of the Red Sea

images-51.jpg

obvs it's not Mt Sinai in the background

Yes that is a giraffe, not a lion on the cover of The Lion Children's Bible.
Shouldn't it be The Giraffe Children's Bible?

images-53.jpg

I name you...giraffe. And you ...Lion

images-55.jpg

had to include these

One of the best covers I've seen, it's a complete Bible too. ICB version

images-61.jpg images-63.jpg

All bibles should have a ribbon bookmark, and ideally edged pages, or indent tabs showing the different books for ease of reference IMHO
I gifted this one to school library. I hope someone reads it, you'll find it under Dewey Decimal number 220

Went to the Christian bookstore yesterday

A lot of the fancy bibles with leather covers were boxed up so I didn't really want to go opening up and looking at them all when I'm not going to buy any at this point in time.

But I did have a look at the ones that weren't in boxes or shrink-wrapped.

I was looking for giraffes ones like the pink/orangey one above but couldn't see any, but I did see this tiger one

images-24.jpg

apparently there is also a lion one, but there weren't any copies at the bookstore, might have been sold out.
