"Can you REALLY put ketchup on anything?"

"All things are lawful to me," but not all things do profit= 1COR6:12

The most used condiment in my fridge is Dijon mustard. I keep backups, 'cause I use it so much. Next would be dill relish and avocado oil mayo. I keep backups of these too. The main reason is, it's just often quick to throw together a salmon, tuna, chicken, or egg salad for lunch.

I even like Dijon on bratwurst.

I keep yellow mustard for other things like sandwiches, burgers, certain recipes, etc.

I'll sometimes keep bbq sauce because sometimes I like it on a burger instead of mustard and there are times I'll use bbq sauce in a recipe.
I rarely use ketchup. I do like it with onion rings. But, I use it so seldom that the bottle needs thrown out before I use it.
Some other things I don't use often, but do occasionally...ranch dressing with tator tots, tartar sauce with fried fish, sour cream in certain recipes, salsa on taco salad, cocktail sauce with shrimp, honey mustard with chicken nuggets, sweet and sour sauce with egg rolls.

Sauces that I like to use in recipes: oyster sauce (I love this stuff in recipes), soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and teriyaki sauce.

I love bagels and used to have them more often, but anymore I mostly save that pleasure for when I travel. While waiting on a flight, I look forward to having an Einstein's Asiago bagel with a plain whipped cream cheese schmear.

dressings have their place (like in a dustbin :D) but I love home cooking and think a meal that is covered in dressings ruins it. The cook has cooked it to taste!! The chef knows best! Our eldest son used to smother ketchup on everything which I hated. I think mustard with ham, mint sauce with lamb, horseradish with beef - fine and some salad dressings, BBQ sauce on chicken wings, soy sauce with Chinese - fine but by and large they ruin a good meal - you should not have to add condiments to increase flavour. But I get with some foods like Mexican you need to salsa and the other sauces - but to me that's part of the meal but NO to ketchup, pickles and other strongly flavoured condiments. Sorry for being controversial:D!!

Oyster dressing is love on a plate!

Hi Everyone,

My friends and family like to tease me because I am extremely picky about, gasp, condiments.

I don't like most of them, and, to the horror of those around me, usually prefer my sandwiches and burgers "dry". I don't like ketchup, mustard, and, heaven forbid, mayonnaise (YUCK!!) causing my sandwich to be runny, goopy, or soggy. BLEH!! To me, there's nothing more horrifying than biting into some kind of delicious sandwich-like concoction -- only to have some soppy, gooey mess slide down the side of your arm. EEK!!

But, I know that's just me, and I'm sure that I am definitely in the minority!

Ironically, I DO like A-1 sauce with my burgers or, on the rare occasion I would have steak (and it HAS to be A-1 -- no substitutions,) and I also like Heinz Cocktail Sauce (once again, it HAS to be Heinz!) with cold shrimp or fried fish products, like sticks or fillets. I've tried using store or other brands, and... For some things, if I can't use the specific brand, I'll just go without.

I also like malt vinegar with some types of fish, and that pickled ginger that comes with sushi (but is that more of a side dish than a condiment?)

Anyway... I wanted to try to write a poll, but can't figure out how to let people express their different opinions about the various condiments with just a poll, so I'm going to list some common condiments here and ask what YOU all think of them!

For instance, fill in the blanks: "(Type of Condiment) Is (Delicious, Depressing, Indifferent,) And Only Belongs On (Hot Dogs, Sandwiches, Certain Dishes, Anything, Everything.)"

What do YOU think of the following condiments -- as well as any you'd like to "add on"? :D

* Mustard
* Ketchup
* Grey Poupon (gourmet mustard)
* Ranch Dressing (It's a scourge, I'm telling you!)
* Pickle Relish
* Soy Sauce
* Hot Sauce
* BBQ Sauce
* Mayonnaise
* Cream Cheese
* Sour Cream
* Salsa
* Vinegar
* Aioli
* Wasabi

I know there are a PLETHORA of other choices, and that's where YOU come in!!

* What are YOUR most loved -- and most loathed -- condiments, and why? Is there a certain brand you HAVE to have?

* Do certain condiments ONLY belong on certain things? Why or why not? Are certain foods NAKED or incomplete without certain condiments? (Like a bagel without cream cheese?!)

* Can you REALLY put certain condiments -- on almost everything???

* What are the most, uh, CREATIVE combinations YOU'VE tried?! Were they a yay or a nay? And did your family/friends have any, um, feedback regarding your concoction?

I hope you'll all "relish" this moment, take a minute to "ketchup", and "mustard" your own response to this thread! :D
My grandfather puts ketchup on many things, including orange peels. I and the guys from my church would play a game so that whoever lost would have to do something (a punishment) everyone else agrees on. One time, a guy had to drink a horrible concoction of items, which included, mayonnaise (outdated), ketchup, relish, I think some cheese, and water to stir it all up. He had to take a big gulp of it. It had to of been disgusting, for he threw up after drinking it! There's a fun story for you.

...

...

Delicious? I'm not sure what to say here.

Try a trace of it smeared on a hard boiled egg.
Never tried that but it sounds disgusting. Imagine the taste and texture of peanut butter, then imagine the same with eggs. I would eat it, but it sounds disgusting nevertheless.

Ketchup along with slices of bacon make an excellent topping for meatloaf.

Speaking of meat...If two vegans are arguing, are they having a "beef"? :giggle::giggle::giggle:
"They have beef with each other" is correct within the way you are thinking (arguing doesn't necessarily mean anger or having beef with one another depending on definition), not, "they are having a beef?"

there was nothing to correct, Francis.
I corrected your correction!:giggle::giggle::giggle::)(y)
Ah, but there was! The idiom typically goes something like this, "He has (sometimes the word, "some" is here) beef with me" not, "he has a beef with me". To say the latter phrase is to imply the frustration as a noun/item, though it's not. The first phrase makes more sense.

being you must be a painful and unrewarding experience.:(:rolleyes::oops:
goodbye

Wasn't intentional if I did.
Let's say a misunderstanding....he was making a joke and you went all 'literal' on him, which I also thought was funny. Was it meant to be funny or correctional? lol Either way we all love each other with the love of the Lord, can I get an Amen😂🙌
