I ain't got no problem with fernurs. Additionally, the control freak woman is an endemic, but is to be expected according to Genesis 3.

This thread is making me feel a whole lot better about being single and quite possibly staying that way.

I've always been more the opposite. While open to the idea of meeting and marrying people from different countries, I'd be more likely to marry a fellow American, or at least a citizen of a country that was once part of the British Empire/Commonwealth.

A lot of it has to do with mutual understanding. Language is more than just expression, it also effects how you think. Add to this cultural differences. Marriages are already plagued with those. She expects the toilet paper to be placed one way, he the other, etc. Being from different nations cannot help with that stage of marriage.

Oh marriage. Let's consider the fact that you marry the woman's family as well. You'd better hope to God they like you and that you are willing to visit that country often. That isn't just one barrier you have to outmaneuver, it is several.

Incidentally, my sister is currently seeing a Belgian who looks for more traditionally minded women. Take that for what its worth.

Again, I'm not a brainless xenophob, just a realist. If God presents me with a loving woman from France, Poland, Burma, Korea, etc with a family who accepts me and all my cultural and personal idiosyncrasies, then I will act accordingly.

But hey, law of averages says she's likely to be from the good ol' US of A and that's fine by me.

I am amazed at the response.

Thank you all for your input. Some of you have brought up great points of view. Some warn to be cautious. Some an example of what the two men I described were saying.

Keep it comming. I really enjoy the differences we as people share.

I guess do what you have to do.
It seems superfluous to me.
People are people.
Why go outside, when there are so many here.
To me it seems redundant.
A soul is a soul.
Since that is what you are marrying, (beauty fades).
There are so many fine women back here in the states, why look outside?

I have a aquaintance that married a lady from another country. he went to that country for the sole purpose of finding a wife. He did. He married a very nice lady that treats hime very well, and he treats her well. They have been married for several years now and both are very happy. They met and married and are very much in love. He says she is a wonderful wife and she says she is very happy as well.

I know another man that met a lady while on a mission trip. After he came home, she came to the U.S. and they were married. Both love each and are very happy as well.

I asked these men why didn't they marry someone from the U.S.The answer I got from both was very much the same answer. They both told me that women from foreign countries apperciate men more and don't ssem to have the preconceptions that cloud thier ideals. They are not femenistic and want to be married and take care of thier husbands. Neither of these men know each other. Both of these men very much love thier wives with all thier hearts and Love the Lord very much.

I don't know how I feel about this. I have experienced the thought processes that these men described in American women. They both admit and clearly state that not all American women are this way but believe they are few and far between that are not, especially over 25 years old.

I am a traditionalist.

I believe in falling in love and gettign married, as I have done. My first wife and the mother of my kids has passed away.

Am I better off here or looking in another land.

I know this will contraversial but please don't hate. I am curious.

Tell me what you think. I am interested to know how others feel.

I'm not sure if I'd do it, but if I did:

Russia has the most attractive I find, but I'm white so I tend to think that.

But the phillipines has the most loyal ever from what I understand.

But again I don't know, it's a lot of work trying to deal with the lauguage and culture barriers. But who knows.

I'm all about honoring ones husband, husband and wife honoring each other, etc etc. Why wouldn't you want to look out for the person you love?...I just can't wrap my mind around not working and not having anything to do outside the home...what do you fill your days with when there's nothing left to clean or cook? Am I the only lady who feels this way? I'm not used to not working towards anything, not learning, not helping people with my knowledge. If traditionalist means literally staying at home, then that's just not me.

If you don't have any kids, then yes, I think it's not good for the woman to stay at home all day. Her being idle all day will result in no good (just as it would for anyone...men included). The general idea of a wife staying at home is that she takes care of the kiddos. I think it's very necessary; I don't want to have to leave my kids with a nanny or drop them off to be raised by a daycare every day. That's the parents job. If for some reason I couldn't find work and my wife was working, I'd be taking care of those kids.

Once again, I think Liamson hit the nail directly on the head with his entire post. Women in the U.S. (even in the church) tend to have this warped view of family values and relationships.

I've noticed a trend with people my age (at least where I live) where they will try to stay in college for as long as they possibly can. There are a few well-liked folks around my church who have been in college for eight years. Then after college they'll start hopping from job to job that isn't even in their field. Then they'll go move somewhere else on a whim and take more classes about some other unrelated thing. They do lots of things, but one thing they never do is decide where they want to go with their life and commit to it. I feel like my generation, more than others, is afraid of commitment. Only their meticulously pre-selected (selfish) conditions will get them to commit.

Does anyone else see a trend like this?

I have a friend from CC (she's latvian). She is married to a guy from US. They->met each other on CC.

+ I know some guys who are interested in women from other countries. They all have their reasons for that.

If you wanna find a woman from another country thats your perogative. Obviously make sure this woman is legit, as well as her family. Don't get suckerd into doing anything stupid. Make sure this woman isnt going to leave you as soon as she gets into our country.

Us American women may not roll over as easily as the foreign women out there, but we make just as good wives as they do. I think thats one of our better qualities, a lot of us are not easily pushed around or dominated. Christian men want to shove bible passages down our throats all about submitting, and while i agree to a certain point we should, i see nothing in the bible telling us to follow our husbands around like a dog awaiting his every command.

You men seem to think your entitled to being treated like your just the king of the castle. While we women have been put here to obey your every whim.
I tell you, and im sure im not the only one, im getting fed up with hearing how women are supposed to be this that and the other, while men think they have only to make sure were in line.

I think you should go marry a foreign woman, she'll probably spoon feed you and read you stories before bed.

From what I can see where I live, it is difficult to find both a good wife or husband. It seems like in the past 10 years, spiritual maturity and morality have went through the floor. They still talk a serious talk, but their lifestyles are more worldly and materialistic. Even on CC, many who say I can't find Mr. or Mrs. Right don't understand that they themselves are disqualified from their own standards. My own son is 24 and lives in another town. He says he can't find a Christian girl serious enough to casual date, let alone marry. He says they're immature and act stupid. That's my story from my neck of the woods.

Dear cctmedic,

You have received a lot of good advice from a lot of good people. Let me offer a simple suggestion. Trust in God. He has a plan for your life, and if it involves finding that right someone it will happen. The biggest danger would be to run ahead; to make decisions based on emotion rather than considering the Godly ramifications of your actions. If you wish to be married to a Godly woman, ask God to point you in the direction you need to go.

One piece of sound advice was spoken by the Apostle, Paul, almost 2000 years ago, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?" (2 Corinthians 6:14-15)

Finally, with respect to the culture in this country (USA) today, I agree with those who say that it is overgeneralizing to say that all women have no respect for the institution of marriage these days. However, we have all heard the saying, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease." It is the radical, aggressive feminists who get all the media coverage, and paint a picture of feminine "liberation" where no woman should respect any man. And we cannot deny that right around 50% +/- of the marriages in this country end in divorce. To me, that signifies a cultural breakdown somewhere.

God be with you in your quest.

I've always admired women from other countries because they seem more old-fashioned. They seem to prefer a simpler life compared to american women.

I've always admired men from other countries. They don't complain about American women as much. ;)

Well I know this might sound offensive, but I think that american women in general are brought up to believe that they should either be treated like princesses or to believe that they can do anything better than a man. I believe that foreign women in general were brought up with a focus on becoming a good wife and mother.

Flame suit on..

This is to everyone, not just Zero.

This whole subject is basically like the grass being greener on the other side of the fence. God can match two different people from two different countries. He does all the time. But He also puts Godly people together from the same country as well. It's one thing to look for a woman from another country if there are no Godly women, such as Abraham did for Isaac. But if there are Godly women right in front of you that you find unacceptable, simply because you believe all women from your location are this, or that, or do not meet your standards, then maybe it's time to readjust your standards and see if they match up to God's. And the same goes for women. We all need to make sure we are not basing anything on looks, positions, status, etc. Because quite honestly, all this is temporary. A woman's look fades with time, even if she does try to maintain it. And a man's position in a job could be gone in a flash. When we pray to God to show us a woman or man of value, or Godliness, that is when God will. Not when we pray to God to show us the hottest "Woman of Virtue," or the richest "man of integrity."

I'm not offended by the generalization of American women and I don't really think anyone else should be either. Obviously there ARE women who fit into those generalizations within this culture but there are also more "traditional women" around. So long as we remain confident in who we are in Christ, offense shouldn't be taken, imo.
I don't think that every man or household necessarily needs a "traditional" wife/mom or that every family needs a headstrong, career driven woman either. I think that the needs of a home can vary tremendously and definitely depends on the calling of that family. Which is why I am also of the opinion, as a previous poster mentioned, that while wise council is awesome, a man (or woman) should always ask God what He thinks would be best. He is perfectly capable of communicating with ya.
I'd be seriously out of luck if every guy only wanted a "traditional" wife.....for the record. hahaha

You know, if every post here is heartfelt, CC has some amazing Christian women that have most or all of the desirable qualities and character traits that any Christian man would praise God for.. for the rest of his life. But when we meet so many Christian women who claim these awesome traits and beliefs, they don't at all exhibit them. Then you say something that trips her "I'm your equal" trigger, and things go downhill form there. Warmth turns to cold and walls go up and it's over.

If I could find a women who speaks, acts and believes just as many of you ladies do here, I would have found the woman of my dreams. Why is what we should be as a man or woman our very character until we get with a woman or a man? What is it that puts us on alert to watch for irregularities instead of appreciating the wonderful things that are strongly evident? Why do we say, "oh, looks and money and position and height and weight and age are not important.. it's whats on the inside that matters", when we've already taken one look and decided, "this one's not for me". It's because we keep thinking that the next candidate will have it all and we want to wait, "just in case". How's that working for ya?

I believe we have missed someone awesome and exceptionally good for us in our pursuit of "maybe there's something better". I only wish that I could take all the wisdom from all these posts and use it to find a Godly mate that is "every IMPORTANT thing good" and have her feel the same about me. And that it would be more than enough for both of us. From my lips to your ears, oh Lord!

Dmdave17,

I appreciate your views. However if you will read all the post I made I believe God has instilled in me certain traits to look for in a woman. I could care a less what country they come from. As stated I posted this not for advise but for opinions sake and wondering what the views are of other christians. I am not looking in others countries for a wife. Nor am I not looking. God will move where he will move. I have reservations about the whole international mixture. I simply was asked what I thought by one of the men I described in the original post. That made me wonder what others though.

I greatly enjoy the diversity of points of view.
