try THE AFRICAN QUEEN

Now the following contains a spoiler for those who haven't seen this movie.

Try the African Queen, old movie with Humphrey Bogart & Katherine Hepburn set in the days of WW I in Africa.
Bogie & Kath head south in a little steam boat to try to destroy the German gun boat, the Louisa, which is dominating a huge lake in Africa. After they go down the river & get near the Lake, the lake river becomes an ambiguous maze of streams instead of just going into the Lake. They become lost in a maze of high reeds growing up out of this delta area of the river. They try hard to get unlost & get to the Lake, all in vain. It looks like they will die in the wilderness of reeds.


Night falls & Katherine prays to God. They go to sleep in despair of life. The camera pans up, & we see God's POV: They are about 20 feet away from the Lake! but they cannot see it for the reeds; they may as well be miles away from the lake.

But while they sleep, a storm arises & the rain comes down in torrents, lifting up the boat. When they away, they are in the Lake!

Great spiritual lesson there.

But what happens after God blesses?
New trial.

Out in the Lake they see the Louisa evil German boat steaming towards them. What do they do? They go back into the reeds with their little steam boat! After the blessing comes the new trial!

I have never seen any Hollywood movie with such a moral to the story.

Hi, all!!! It feels like FOREVER since I wrote anything in the Singles Forum!!!

I've been dying to post on this thread since I saw it last, but I was at work then, I think. Then when I got home, I completely forgot about it XD

I'm at my workplace now, but thankfully there aren't any emergencies yet I sure hope it stays this way!!!

Movies I could never tire of watching....hmm...

There's actually quite a lot although, I feel like I haven't watched enough movies, since I missed out on most of the newer once that came out (which actually makes me feel like I've lived under a rock for the past few years!!! XD I was much more fond of reading fictional works, usually horror by Stephen King. A lot of times, I feel like I've watched a movie 'coz my imagination runs like crazy, and I put voices for the characters (I'm fond of reading aloud XD).

The lot of movies I'm crazy fond of watching repeatedly are the following:

* Adam Sandler flicks like Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, Click
* Stephen Chow movies like KungFu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, CJ7
* The Star Trek: TNG Series (although I haven't watched the latest remake. I am wary of remakes, somewhat. But I want to give it a chance, sometime)
* 3D Animations: The Shrek Series, The Incredibles, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (the first one), Monsters, Inc. and it's sequel, Madagascar, The Croods, Wall-E, Up
* Stop Motion Animation: The Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox
* Back To The Future Series
* Rocky I-III
* Jim Carrey flicks: Ace Ventura and its sequel, Liar Liar, Fun With Dick and Jane, Dumb and Dumber
* Pet Sematary
* Texas Chainsaw Massacre
* One True Thing (starring Renee Zellweger and Meryl Streep)
* Death Becomes Her
* The Little Giants
* 300
* Gladiator
* The Patriot
* Mel Brooks movies: Robin Hood (Men in Tights), Dracula (Dead and Loving It), Young Frankenstein

Hiya, Maxie!!! XD it's okay to call you that, right???

Um, I no longer work at the hospital ER (I finally found the nerve to resign from there, what with the terrible hospital policies that endanger instead of save patients' lives, and the depressing delays in arrivals of paychecks no one has to suffer that, even in the name of service, specially when the mayor is busy using the funds for casino chips!!! >.<; ). It was too stressful and just depressing!!!

I work as an ambulance doctor now still for the government, but in a different city where the mayor actually cares for it's constituents and employees (the pay comes in advance, too!!!). I'm at our base now. We just stay here and wait for emergency calls, if there are any within the area. So, nope, I'm not babysitting cardiac monitors, and catering to waves upon waves of patients anymore XD rest assured that, if you do become my patient, I'll be keeping an eye on you until we reach the nearest hospital (while the other eye is busy checking stuff out on CC!!! Nah, I actually can't do this last part, but I wish I could. Although I'm sure it'd look incredibly freaky So...*sigh!* you will get my undivided medical attention!!!).

Hey, you're supposed to write your movie list!!! I took A LOT of trouble trying to recall the movies I couldn't take my off of!!!

Or is it because you don't want them to find out your little "secret" that's stopping you from revealing your movie list??? My lips are SEALED!!!

Oh, by the way, it's very considerate of you to hold off your heart valves and rumors from bursting so I could finish my post!!! I wish I'd have more patients like you??? XD

It's funny because these are not what I would call the best movies or most well made movies but for whatever reason, the enjoyment level of each is very high so I just never seem to tire of them.

Stardust... Love the look, love the humor.. got a nice story... good actors and a great soundtrack. Not sure why this stands out amongst movies I would consider better made, I just really dig this one a lot.

Moulin Rouge... Not a big fan of musical really but I guess all the 70s and 80s pop hits make this one fun. Plus it's so colorful and fast paced. I also like how the movie goes from crazy wild at the beginning and then slows down and takes a much darker turn halfway through. Best scene in the movie is the whole "Roxanne" tango segment. Could watch that part over and over just by itself.

The Last Unicorn... This I saw when I was like 4 and 5 twice and wasn't allowed to see it after that because of some inappropriate content. After I got older you couldn't even find this movie anywhere but I always remembered it and knew the title song since I was little having it on cassette. I finally saw it again when it first came to DVD and yeah... I still really dig it. There's a nostalgia factor working with it I admit... but as a kid I just felt like even though I didn't understand all the adult elements, I still really connected with it through the music and now that I can appreciate the adult themes, I still feel like I can connect to so many different aspects I didn't catch when I was a kid.

I think that's pretty much it as movies I literally could and have watched over and over. There's movies that I like better or feel are better movies but just don't have the replay value these ones seem to have for me. Terminator, Edward Scissorhands, Braveheart, Gladiator, Prince of Egypt, Aliens... All great movies and if I were to rate my favorites, many of these would go above those 3 but I honestly couldn't sit there and watch Braveheart over and over no matter how much I love it.

I don't watch movies.
I've never even seen a movie.
In fact, I've never even heard of movies until just now.
