Must a church require elders to be able to preach from the pulpit, as a qualification of being an elder? 1 Timothy 3:2 says, “Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober minded, self controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach…” (ESV)
1 Timothy 5:17 (ESV) says, “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.” Here, the apostle Paul seems to differentiate types of elders. Thus my question.
Do the elders of your church preach from the pulpit?
