What I'm about to share is going to be a huge bummer, so if you don't want to feel dragged down, feel free to ignore. It won't hurt my feelings. And please keep in mind, that despite everything going on, my mental health is improving, I'm working on improving myself, rebuilding my faith, and keeping a positive attitude through everything.

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be one half of a happy, healthy, long term marriage with kids. I got married when I was young, had kids, and by 2012, found myself in a situation with a very toxic marriage and unfaithful wife. It ended in divorce which was something I never wanted or imagined would happen. Fast forward to about 2016 I met a woman who I was convinced was my person. I moved two hours away from my kids, really believing this would be my dream marriage. The first few years were amazing. 2020, covid hit, and some very ugly cracks started showing. I was still seeing my kids regularly, but my relationship with them started fracturing with them due to my wife at the time. My wife went from being caring and loving to being hostile, angry, and resentful towards me. Even in the good years, the marriage wasn't perfect, but we worked through them. All of the sudden she decided the imperfections weren't worth working through and just held onto anger towards me. I sacrificed time with my kids to give her what she wanted, and through that she made herself more distant while my oldest son decided he was done with me, and my daughter was on the way out the door. Last Christmas, she told me she had enough, she said she could tell I was trying but it wasn't good enough and I was ruining her mental health. She kicked me and my youngest son out of the house while he was staying with us.

Through those last several years, my mental health declined significantly, and I was barely able to cope from day to day. And now, I find myself in a situation I REALLY thought I'd never see myself in which is a second divorce, and a child who wants nothing to do with me. Over the last several months I've just found myself really angry at the whole situation and with God. Through that situation, and expressing my feelings towards God, I kind of came to realize that maybe it wasn't actually God I was angry at, but a God I had made up in my own head through years of terrible church teachings and weak theology. Pinpointing that I decided to search for a new church, but so many in my area push this teaching that following God will make everything in life work for our own comfort and provide the things we want. I finally found a new church, keeping the focus on the glory of God, and not our will, but His, only to find out they had been caught embezzling and misappropriating funds.

So here's where I find myself. Second divorce, lots of judgement from local churches. A son who wants nothing to do with me. And surrounded by churches with bad theology and/or glaring sinful behaviors. I know no church is perfect, but I with my history in church and bad teachings, I know the things that will trigger me into thinking God exists for my own good, which is not the point of Christianity. It has completely shaken my faith to the core in a way I never expected. I still consider myself a Christian, because I trust the bible, and I know God exists, but it's almost like I toe the line of being agnostic too.

So. Long post. Apologies, a lot to get off of my chest. Keep me in prayer if you feel so inclined. As I mentioned, I'm working on rebuilding my mental health, rebuilding my faith, and rebuilding the relationship with my son. It is a downer, I know, but I am trying to keep myself positive, and I'm just looking at moving forward at this point.

I have been there before. it is a dark place. a pit of self imposed misery. it is not hopeless, but from my experiences, you will need God himself to lift you from that place, and nothing I can say or do will likely help much. just know that I am praying. and that evrything that happens is for the future. someday you may meet someone else going through the exact same....I don't really know. But maybe you will be able to help them, or who knows. the ways of the LORD are beyond our understanding
Keep me in prayer if you feel so inclined.
I will be.

Im so sorry to hear you've been through all of this! Chances are relationships can be built up again, though it may take time. Im hopeful for you, and will keep you in my prayers. Life can be devastating hard and difficult, and allthough people leave, it isnt meant to be that way, specifically with family and spouses. Eveyone makes mistakes, and as a wife I know how tempting it can be to be judgmental and unhelpful towrds husbands. This isnt because you arent deserving of love. For whatever reason us wives have a hard time accepting our husbands at times. Please know that you are not unlovable, despite everyone leaving. God is here for you. I hope you can find good fellowship and that your relationships will be built up again, if God willing.

God is still here for you, I would join a Lutheran church if I were you. But thats just from my limited counsel.

I just got out of a cult and joined a Lutheran church.

By cult I mean cult cult. Like they were deciding what I could and couldn't do, and who I could and shouldn't talk to. Micromanaging every aspect of my life until I left after they started judging me for asking too many questions. I was told I had a demon. Also anytime I did things they didnt like I was subtly shamed and told not to do it, and told if I did I would get a demon and go to hell.

It was kind of spiritually abusive.

Keep in mind none of what I was doing was even sinful by scriptural standards.

Before this my best freind who was a woman promised we were going to be best friends for life and she completely ditched me for her guy friends. We were close for years, like family. And it came out that her family, who I thought of as family, actually didnt like me. Her brother had sexually violated me. Maybe he hated me because of that, I never told on him though. I was too scared.

Now im in a marriage and its got its ups and downs but honestly im terrified.

Life is tough! But Gods got us, and we arent perfect and sometimes we forget about how good he actually is and about his strength. But when I remember, I remember the hope I have in him.

And one day we will be in heaven with him, and all of this pain from earth will wash away. We will never cry again.

Everything will be okay. If not in earth, it will be in heaven.

So for now we've got a goal. Try our best to seek our loving father for support, and to try to love others in the way that he loves us.

I am so sorry to hear this, Zao.

I'm pretty sure the time I knew you was in the "in-between" time before 2016. I do think we were able to catch up a while later, and you sounded very happy.

I feel so much sorrow that things didn't work out and for everything you're going through. I can only say that God does indeed move us forward, as hard as it is, and even though we often don't know where we're going.

I'm truly glad to see you back here -- there are a few old-timers still here, and probably a few more lurking under other usernames, but we have a great mix of awesome newer people as well.

I hope to see you in the threads when you have time, and you'll be in my prayers. 🙏

Is the divorce final? Maybe you can try counseling? Also if your wife a Christian?
Sorry, I missed the last part of your question 😂 she is a Christian, or at least says she is. When she decided she wanted a divorce she straight up told me that she only talked to people who weren’t Christian’s about it, because she thought they understood more, and she refused to pray about it because she knew that wouldn’t be Gods answer and she wasn’t okay with that.

sorry to hear bro. Keep praying, maybe God has some better plans for you even if that means being single.

Let us pray to fully understand that when love is abandoned, relationships
will surely suffer. Pray to know that our greatest resource shall be to earnestly strive
to uphold this essential ingredient.

I pray for your family and all those involved to come to a compatible
reconciliation to mend the hurt and anguish, and to know God's love is available.
A heart of love is indispensable.

'Amen'
