And the adornment of this woman (and the name on her forehead)

Rev 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour,
and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls
 having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
Rev 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

What she wears and God naming her the mother of harlots/ whores would be of the Spirit there, and she would (on the other hand) be of the flesh.

Also... WHY does this remind of a certain topic we were discussing??

And again, this is in the Local assembly only. they are not to have charge over the local assembly. Paul is not saying that they can't talk or can't minister in other areas.

The world tries to make this simple command into something it is not.

The Word is suppose to conform society.

We have society trying to conform the Word.

Are you saying that Paul's specific instruction here is not just valid for the ancient church in Corinth--but for churches today as well? I think this is what you are saying. I just want to be sure.

Bump - yep.
Back somewhere in the middle of this muddle, we brought up verses to
show "church" was where people met including homes. There are
various verses in the bible to show this.

So if women should remain silent in "church" then all I am asking
is where do the "silent female" people think we should be silent.

Especially important as it has been said women only need to be silent in church
not in their own homes. But the early church met in homes!

I would say ask the Father cuz He's faithful to answer. And once the Holy Spirit plants something in your heart, it's rooted there forever and nothing will be able to rip it away. :o

I believe that it's worth noting that Paul says " I not allow" and not God does not allow. Apparently this is his own personal preference and belief and not necessarily a strict scriptural command that must be obeyed. A lot of Paul's writings are opinions, and while they are truthfully stated they may not be statements of truth that must be adhered to.

From what I read in the bible I see no prohibition against women preaching and teaching in church or exercising authority over a man. From my own personal observations there are also a lot of woman in positions of leadership in the workplace. They exercise their authority over any men that may be under them.

This is the 21st century. It's time to get with the program.

Hmmmm exercising authority isn't good for a woman. Just because feminism says it's normal doesn't mean God changed. Teaching as a servant with covering yes, like Corrie ten Boom preached, awesome. But control is never good. Timothy had to rebuke an older man like a father. A woman rebuking a man or an older man? Neh.

Paul said "I have the spirit of God" (1 Corinthians 7:17) and Paul is divinely inspired Apostle who has authority to give instructions to the churches (1st Corinthians 7:17).

What about when men act inappropriately towards women? It happens often enough.
