We had to have our dog put down due to being old and illness...do all dogs go to heaven? We were in the room with him when he was put to sleep and it was so sad and was just wondering if God created dogs to be man's best friend, do they go to heaven, too?

It is my personal opinion that all animals go to heaven. God created them and gave them a soul. I think that heaven would not be complete without animals. :)
 
All that I know is that the breath of God, the soul, returns to God. I know that I just opened myself up for debate or assault. The soul is that which 'knows', knows hunger, pleasure, want, thirst, cold.

I too allowed the Vet to put my dog down too last year, first time to witness the thing, I loved that dog so much.
 
Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Show me a dad that would not revive a passed pet of his brokenhearted child if he could. That would be my answer.

I don't know. I'm sorry for your loss. Had a cat that would lie on me. She was dear to me because of her affection. She was also sick and she had to be put down. It hurt. Made me cry at her passing and sad after for some time.

I know I did what I could to love her. That gives me comfort. I'm sure you did the same.
 
I couldn't believe how fast he went down, 6 seconds and he was gone. I still cry at times during the day, he always had a smile on his face....yellow lab named King. I held him until he passed, so sad.
 
Yeah, they go very quickly. I don't really like thinking about it. I was there, but I could not bring myself to feel her last breath. I watched and talked to her. Still miss her. She was very dear to me. I am glad she went quickly. Didn't seem like a bit of pain.

They use barbiturates and it stops their heart. Very fast and painless, we suffer more than them. :(
 
All good doggies go to heaven. Cats too. Parakeets probably. Gold fish maybe. Lizards, snakes and turtles, questionable. It's a gray area.
 
I don't know if it is my feelings, but when he kept licking my face I couldn't help that he felt it was goodbye....
 
Sorry to hear about your dog, we ourselves have put down 3 of our dogs just this past month, they were loved and are very much missed. And yes it is very fast (thankfully so). My sister put down her own a month back and she is still grieving her.

Anything I would say right now would only be speculation. So I really couldnt say for sure.

I'm sorry for your loss of your dog, it must be painful. I believe they do and it doesn't matter if I'm wrong, its a non issue. They have flesh that is animated so therefore they have a soul and the soul goes back to God. If someone says that animals are dumb and emotionless, they have obviously not gotten close enough to one to realise that they most certainly are.
 
I know, me either. But, if God created life and created dog's to be man's best friend, I want to believe they go with us.

Where does it say the dog was created for man to be his best freind though?
 
Two witnesses to confirm...

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Colossians 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Not just people... EVERY creature under the heaven.
We preach them the Gospel by loving them.
