The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

"Corporal punishment in Solomon's time was not simply punitive but also remedial. The person undergoing punishment would learn that crime carries a harsh penalty, and he would resolve not to commit the crime again (Proverbs 19:29; 29:15). The meaning here is not entirely symbolic, but neither is it meant to encourage punishments which lead to injury.

The Bible teaches that every human being is a sinner and possesses a sin nature. Adam's sin passed upon the entire human race (Romans 5:12). But we are not just sinners by nature, we are also sinners by choice. Isaiah 53:6 explains that like sheep we have all gone astray, choosing to follow our will instead of God's. Even Christians choose to sin, but do not make sin a way of life. Often, when we sin, God uses discipline to correct us. He uses the "blows" and "strokes" of discipline to steer us away from sin and to produce righteousness in us."

Christ has children. And He corrects us as a father corrects his children.

"If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?"

This is not a treatise for or against corporal punishment. Guided by the Spirit, a parent will use what is necessary to correct the child, that may or may not require corporal punishment. Abusive punishment is never condoned by God, neither is abusive neglect.

All three acounts say he drove the money changers out. In John it says He drove them out and the cattle and sheep. Amd turned over tables. And poured the coins out.

The passage in proverbs is not about disciplining children. There are other proverbs about that. It is about punishing evil doers.

I never said one blamed word about punishinh children, so i have nonidea how that became part of the conversation. Other than yall read the words of a person here the same way you read the Bible, with your own agemda in mind.

This is a reference to how God brings sinners to repentance, but He even chastises His children when they go off the straight and narrow way.

The same verses still apply.
Romans 12:19
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

That is why we don't have to in this time and age.

I really do not find this comfortable. I bet such verses have caused untold suffering and marred many lives. It appears to be a mandate for beatings in the name of religion. This I find unpalatable and unacceptable, though I am a Christian and wishing to learn and understand scripture.

So I would appreciate some clarification.
