I received a friend request from someone I don't know n the other social network. after saying hellos, I answered his question with a question, like "are you real?, sorry for asking, I don't mean to be rude. He was upset and replied like I don't have manners. Awwww.. am I really that rude? Well, I'm just careful. Is it wrong to be frank or straightforward to a person you don't know?

No you weren't being rude just cautious and he should respect that.
 
If he got upset about that, you might as well move on. Your time is more important than dealing with that.
 
If I get any friend requests from people I don't know on Facebook, I just reply
no because I don't know you, reject it and end of story.

If someone on here I don't know, if they are new I wait for a while to
find out more about them first before deciding.

Just because someone sends you a friend request, it doesn't mean you have to
accept it.

You would say no in real life to a stranger, why not say no on line.
 
in a internet world full of spam and bots, i figured he would be understanding of your question.

It wasn't an unreasonable question to ask. Its a legitimate concern. Why is he so bent out of shape?

Been my experience that if someone gets defensive by you being straight forward....they had an ulterior motive for wanting to befriend you and are shouldnt be trusted.......
 
My first thought is that he is probably a scammer. I would block him.

I have FB and I have it set up where not everyone can send a friend request. You are very wise to be careful, the internet is full of dangerous people.
 
I have been asked if I was a computer program. Someone was talking to me in chat and found out a few things about me that apparently the person did not expect. It seems it is not normal for a guy to bake bread, or to enjoy cooking, or to like vegetables.

There is a saying "The best defence is a good offense". Why is he attacking a very honest and prudent question? A real person would have appreciated that you were cautious and not taken offense or pretended to take offense. Even if he is for real you have had some insight into his personality and I'd say good bye to this one. They have issues that you do not want. He is already trying to make you apologize and feel badly. These are red flags. Scammers will also try and disarm you this way. You are worthy of so much more.

I try to never include "I don't mean to be rude" or "no offense" when I am saying something that could be construed as rude or offensive. Saying it only calls attention to the possibility that it was rude or offensive, and thus dooms the whole process. :rolleyes:
 
His reaction says more about him than it does you. I wouldn't worry about it. It's good to be cautious, as long as you're not paranoid. :)
