Rules regarding thread hijacking

Is there somewhere on this site the rules regarding thread hijacking?

I am posting this because some members are advised to start their own thread when they reply to a particular thread, and apparently their reply is considered thread hijacking.
 
there are TOS (terms of service) but I don't think there are rules about throwing a thread off track

sometimes a person will say ... go start your own thread...but as far as I know, no one has authority to actually do anything about it...unless a mod would intervene...but I have not seen that happen with regards to a thread being derailed

happens all too often IMO...truthfully, some folks here carry their little soapbox into every thread...it gets really old...
 
When someone creates a thread on a topic, especially one where the person is seeking help or advice, changing the topic to something about yourself or your own questions and deviating the thread from it's original intent is hijacking. How can the person who created the thread get what they came looking for if you take it over?
This is less serious on more laid back thread topics. But ones where it's more serious or someone creates it for their own needs, it's just rude and inconsiderate and frowned upon by most people. Is it really hard to understand that taking over something someone else created, and making it about you, is not a right thing to do and you need to see a posted rule for it to make sense?

No rule that I'm aware of. Most thread get derailed, that's what makes this site fun. Feel free to post on any thread, that's what I do. NO RULES - JUST RIGHT. You will never go wrong if you are civil and respectful to fellow members

On a Dutch forum it was forbidden, but the mods were always like: hey I have to spend time with my family and I'm not your babysitter. The thread would go off topic and we had a great discussion about something, but then all of a sudden all the effort you had done was for nothing, because without any warning they had removed 5 pages or more and you saw: off topic hahahahahahaha and they would get mad at them. Funny.

another forum I was on, would eject the person who kept going off topic so that they could not contribute to that particular thread ...they could not even read it LOL!

they weren't banned...just from that thread...happened to me once...me and about 6 other people...next time, you are a little more careful

it worked great....sometimes I would really like an eject button for this forum...bet we all would

Usually Its the #2 post In that thread that Influences how the OP Is perceived and makes or breaks It.

this site is a scam they take 24.00 then ban you there is no phone number no contact info and that is not a donation that is a scam

ChristianChat.com is free to use and if you donated 24.00, then you have contact info via your receipt. Also, there is a "contact us" button at the bottom of each page.

Actually, the reason for the ban would probably be something like hijacking a thread and disseminating false information concerning this website.
 
Another reason for a ban is when someone teaches against the core truths of the Christian faith such as what is established in the CC rules. Here and here.

One core element of the Christian faith is salvation, and there are some members here who keep teaching salvation by works incessantly in the BDF.
