Is it not adultery only if we sleep with others afterwords? I'm really going to get some minds thinking here. Fornacation is the act of sleeping with a spouce of another, Adultery is sleep with more than one person never calling one a spouce. If both parties stay comitted to the other and eventaully get married What Sin have they comitted?

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

I don't know if this was mentioned or not, but has anyone noticed how Adam and Eve were called husband and wife without ever having a marriage ceremony or a person to conduct their ceremony? It was by intercourse that they were considered married, or so I think. Did Abram and Sarai have a marriage ceremony? Yet they were married.

And while on the topic, I want to apply a point of logic that I've thought about for a while now. I'm not at my full logical thinking right now so I may not be able to flesh out all the details. Blood is considered a significant thing by God. In the Old Testament, it was the blood of animal sacrifices that covered the sins of the Israelites. In the New Testament, it was the blood of Jesus that saves us from sin's penalty. The Israelites were commanded not to drink the blood of any animal. Abel's blood (technically, "bloods") cried out to God when Cain killed him. Blood is a serious thing.

Now I don't want to make anyone cringe at this next statement. When a woman have intercourse for the same time, there is blood. That means that sex is serious business to God. And he tells us that we should abstain until marriage.

As for the question of am I for or against premarital sex? Against. I have many friends who have had sex at early ages and the results have been less than spectacular: often they're perverts, and several of the young woman end up becoming bisexual and/or teen mothers. Personally, I don't want any STDs and I've heard of all the regrets people have and how it messes up their marriage lives and whatnot. Besides, intercourse requires a lot of energy and I'm way too lazy to expend all that effort. :D

The bible state this very plainly that sex should only be inside marriage .. it does take Gods blessing of the couple if they do not listen ...
I look at it this way bible is god instruction manual it tells us everything we need to know on how to live a christian life !
plus another thing our body is not our own it belongs to Christ that always helps me ... God Bless

I have to agree that yes, in Biblical times, sex was what often made the marriage "official". You had sex, then you were married. But the way they did things in their culture was different, so we can't make the exact comparison here. Do I believe it is this consummation that makes us married in God's eyes? Yes, I do. However, because legally I am not married, and I also believe we are told to submit to authorities, I would not have sex outside of marriage because I am not legally married. This law is not at odds with God's law, and actually provides us more protection if we stick with it. Some people will say, "Well, they PLAN on getting married. They're engaged!" That's wonderful that they are planning a life together, but there are many examples of relationships falling apart even at that stage. Some people might argue, "Well, divorce is a possibility, too!" Well, yes, but that's another issue entirely. If you're not married, God doesn't see a problem with severing a relationship. But Jesus mentioned divorce specifically, and said we are only to divorce for marital unfaithfulness. People divorce for many other reasons, and thanks to God, who forgives us and now we live with no condemnation. But, back to divorce, if you haven't ever married and yet you have sex, and then end the relationship, in God's eyes it really is no different. And, as has been pointed out already, a relationship that intimate creates strong emotional ties. That is why God intended us to share it with one person only, and why it causes so much trouble if we choose to share it with more than one.

Besides, every time I've seen an example of someone having more than one wife in Scripture, it's nothing but a headache for the guy. Honestly, could you imagine being married to both Rachel and Leah, competing and fighting with each other to have more children than the other, to win your affections more? It'd probably be like referreeing children themselves. And Sarai and Hagar? Insane jealousy and hate - Sarah made Abe's life miserable after she TOLD him to sleep with Hagar. Really, it's just not worth it. Lol. ;) (Trying to lighten things up a bit here at the end; I hope you will excuse my lame attempts at humor.)

I agree with *Jennifleur* 100%.
I was brought up a Christian but in my late teens I went my own way. I moved out of home with some mates and haven't been home since. I have always loved my parents but I also wanted my independence. With time I met an amazing girl, we started off as friends, having hour long convo's over the phone and internet before even setting eyes on each other. Over time we met and fell for each other. She wasn't a Christian but did believe sex was a thing to be respected and refused to have sex unless we were an actual couple. Last year we bought a house together, and have 2 dogs and the topic of marriage was always discussed as a definite union between the 2 of us. I love her just as any man loves his wife, I would instantly give my life up for her as she is the most amazing girl I could imagine....
Then about 4 months ago God almighty called me back. I started going back to church and I re-dedicated my life to Adonai. The thing is that I was now living out of marriage with a non-believer. I couldn't break up with her because I knew that if I did, claiming to do it for God, she would hate Christianity for breaking us up and conversion for her would be near impossible. I love her so much that all I want in this life is for her to open her heart to Christ and become a believer. So, I sat down with her and explained that even though we will get married, we are not yet and the bible tells us to submit to authorities and so by engaging in sex I would be putting her before my belief.
She cried and felt punished, not due to the fact we were not going to have sex until we are married, but because she won't be able to feel that intimacy that can only be reached through the union of 2 people in love. The amazing thing for me is that even though she is not a believer, nor does she believe in the bible, she loves me enough to help me and support me in my decision and new found belief. I'm not perfect, and because I work away (on an off-shore oil rig 4 weeks on 4 weeks off) when I get home all I want to do is be with her like before, yet if my flesh does start to get a hold of me, she is quick to put me in my place and remind me that it is not right under God's eyes!

So I guess this is a message for anyone out there who might be in the same situation. Sex before marriage is against our heavenly father's wishes, but once married it is blessed. It's tough and it's only because I chose to leave my parent's house (father's actually) and live by myself that I find myself in this predicament. It's MY fault, and I have to respond accordingly. Not being able to be as we were hurts the intimate side but I'd rather suffer in the physical than in the spiritual again. I know that once we are married our household will be blessed and I have faith that she will also be saved. She can only see positive changes in my life and although she has had to adapt to her partner being a completely different person, she believes we are stronger than any challenge put before us.

Much love

I agree no sex before marriage.I have been celibate for two years,and I find my life is alot less complicated.And I can devote alot more of my energy to the will of God;

It's a hard question... I know a lot of people who have waited until they were "married" only to be tremendously disappointed. Without a doubt the bible wants you to wait, yet I am yet to meet anybody who says it was worth it. Everyone I know who has, has had serious intimacy/sexual issues in their marriage. My theory is that they didn't know each others sexual libido/wants/ or needs before the marriage and so they didn't meet those needs once they were married. It's such an important part of a marriage that it can really be detrimental to the relationship if there are problems. I think another problem is that they never talked about it before hand. I think for those who do choose to wait, make sure you get TONS of pre-marital counseling (you can never have too much) and ask the serious/hard questions. Make sure you are on the same page BEFORE getting married. And, if you have a problem after marriage, get Christian counseling immediately!! I speak from experience!

I kinda skimmed through this post. Does the question even need to be asked. I think scripture was pretty clear on how God feels about sex.

You see, everyone I've ever met who has waited has said that it WAS worth it, and those who DIDN'T wait were the ones who had problems with the issue of sex in their marriage. And, while I know sex is important for any marriage, being obedient to God far outstrips it in importance.

I hope that was a joke?
