[2Ti 4:2-3 KJV] 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
[Eph 4:4-5 KJV] 4 [There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

I have noticed that many of the Christian discussions on the forum tend to degenerate rather quickly as different sides weigh in on the subject. While discussion is a positive thing I can’t help but notice that the various sides seldom find unity, though according to Paul there is only one faith. There a lot of other verses urging unity over doctrine but those above stand out to me.
[Isa 30:21 KJV] 21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This [is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

What do y’all think?

In view of the words of our Lord, when He declared, think not that I bring peace on the earth, rather I have come to divide you etc. Paraphrased.
Why Paul did not understand the Messiah's teaching is beyond me. All who believe Jesus Yeshua know this to be true.
This is a hard thing to do, but we should come into the forums with the attitude of sharing what has been given to us. Should others become personal and insulting then, only then, we may dispute once or twice, but carrying it on is counterproductive, and harmful to the image of our Lord. God bless all.

Sound doctrine is important, but in my opinion an online forum isn't really the place to wage doctrinal wars. A forum isn't a church assembly and those who populate it aren't overseers. A forum is a place for people to express themselves, not bash people over the head with a Bible, or attempt to indoctrinate others. I don't think unity within a forum setting is very realistic; but it doesn't have to be a battlefield either.

What teachings didn’t Paul understand?

[2Pe 3:16 KJV] 16 As also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

[Eph 4:11-14 KJV] 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

It’s a discussion question, I think that is the power of the forum. I do believe though that we should be open to the idea of unity in Jesus.

Peter isn’t saying that Paul didn’t understand what he was writing, but that others have found Paul’s words hard to understand.

I was referring to a reply from another member, which I don’t understand:
“Why Paul did not understand the Messiah's teaching is beyond me. All who believe Jesus Yeshua know this to be true. “

What would unity in Jesus look like to you if it were obtained?

Peter isn’t saying that Paul didn’t understand what he was writing, but that others have found Paul’s words hard to understand.
Amen and That others who don’t understand Paul’s writings distort it and twist it and lead others astray

“And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:15-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

probably falls into this general area which also explains why there are so many differing understandings of scripture this has been happening for about 1900 years

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If there’s no truth there’s nothing but choas wothoit conformity because there’s no foundation to revert to to find truth

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What teachings didn’t Paul understand?
I believe Jaume was referring to Jesus' words in Matthew 10:34, "Do not assume that
I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Also, from Luke 12:51, "Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but division."

1 Corinthians 11:19

Yeah Jesus is talking about dividing believers from unbelievers , wheras Paul is talking about unity within the body of Christ who are all believers

Oh! That is very kind of you to say... and I think, rather than being blinded by His prevalent presence in your
life, that He predominately pervades all you see is proof positive of His preserving permanent presidency.

There a lot of other verses urging unity over doctrine...
That is rather doubtful as you will note in this passage in Ephesians 4:4-6:
There is one Body,
and one Spirit,
even as ye are called in
one hope of your calling;
One Lord,
one Faith,
one baptism,
One God and Father of all,
who is above all,
and through all,
and in you all.

"One faith" is in fact the body of Christian doctrines, and is included in everything that is for the unity of the Body. Even one Spirit, one Lord, and one God and Father of all pertain to doctrine. So if people reject the Trinity, there can be no unity. If others say that the one baptism (speaking of the baptism with the Holy Spirit) cancels out water baptism by immersion, then there can be no unity.
