I wonder if anyone is going to reprimand me for toting around a book that it literally covered with pictures of naked men. I've been taking it with me to the gym everyday.

(I'm reading a book about the works of Michelangelo; the front cover is a large picture of Adam from The Sistine Chapel and the back cover has a picture of Michelangelo's statue of David.) I have to admit, it's kind of embarrassing.

But the man is amazing and it's astonishing to read that he wrote in a letter, regarding his work on the Sistine Chapel, "I'm out of place here--and I'm no painter." WHAT??? (Michelangelo saw himself as a sculptor...)

Well worth my blushing and taking another book with me to try to cover up the covers!

Hmmm... I never felt embarrassed for that... I don't know if it's because my mom used to teach arts, and I grew up seeing these kinds of pictures of paintings and statues, that I think there's nothing wrong about them... on the contrary... I find it is something to be proud of... to be interested in the fine arts, I mean... :)

Ah, you've discovered my weak spot, Carol.

For as bold and blazen as I can be--I don't mind talking about most anything depending on the context and the company--I DO have a "shy spot".

Certain things still make me a little shy. Naked pictures of men would be one of those things. Even if it's considered to be "art". ;)

I get ya!!! :D

I don't think I have a shy spot in my body, though... if there is one, I haven't found it yet... hehehehehe

Maybe that's my superpower!!!! :D

So I found out that one of the teams at work lied to me over an issue at our meeting yesterday so they wouldn't look bad. Something didn't jibe, so I did some research and found out the information they gave me was erroneous. I wrote up an email with the minutes and some other things to two teams (the one, and another that is indirectly affected), and had another manager review. This was our conversation:

Her: You might want to change this, it sounds too confrontational.
Me: Maybe...but I think the rest of it is pretty tactful...but why should I be the one who is tactful when they are the ones that lied?
Her: I got nothin'
Me: Fine. I'll change it to this...but I am bolding this sentence because I am passive-aggressive.
Her: Do it!
This happens in my line of work also and I usually will list the information provided, the information I obtained and put it as an action item at the top of my meeting minutes for the lead contact of team involved to confirm and then update target dates impacted if any. Works every time for me...:)

Why be ashamed of the human body? It is after all the temple of God

I have no other emotion to feel lol.
But I have learned the classic lesson
'bad boss= bad environment'

I say that .....tenderly..... because I know we are supposed to respect people in authority and I guess I learned a couple of lessons.

1. Do not put your pearls before swine.
2. Sometimes you have to go higher up.
3. Never react to a harasser.
4. Never try to explain yourself to a harasser/ manipulator.
5. Report them immediately.
6. Sometimes you have to suck up your dignity and go the extra mile to the most degrading people...

Yeah I guess I have time to really think. but ugh.
God has been so distant lately that it sucks.

Oh no, BlueOrchid, I'm so sorry you got fired, but ugh... it sounds like this job was no great loss. There are better jobs out there for you, where you can be respected and give respect to someone who has earned it. *HUG* Praying for an amazing opportunity for you elsewhere!

Also praying right now for the Lord to make himself known to you in undeniable ways, and give you direction and comfort.

Wow... that really sucks... :( I'm so sorry about it all!!

But I agree with Grace that this job seems like no great loss!

Hope you take this time to heal and to be strengthened by the Lord! Remember that is in the deserts that we are modeled the most after His character!!! :)

Thank you everyone :)
It means a lot.
And yeah. it definitely is a desert situation

It's kind of funny though, I was being really unthankful yesterday, thinking about how much more I wanted from God and how I wanted to be 'further' in life...
and I still don't understand why he keeps me in this place.
It frustrates me, but I learned some practical and vital lessons.
You have to sometimes just not give the devil an opportunity.
You have to move ahead of the devil.

That's pretty much what I did. It affected two teams, so I made two sets of minutes, but the related issue I cut and pasted to both, saying 1) this was the info given to me in the meeting, 2) research has shown the contrary to be true, ans 3) here is what this team and that team will do about it.

The good thing is that the main guy responsible is quitting next week (unrelated), and that the teams know that I research stuff.
