You have been lied to
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
When you confessed your sins and repented and prayed to the Lord for salvation that was when you entered in the strait gate. But that is the entrance ramp to the "narrow way". You have to then travel the narrow way which leads to life.
This does not mean that if you do not travel the narrow way you will go to hell, nor does it mean if you sin that you go to hell. When you entered in at the strait gate you were saved from going to hell. But you haven't arrived at life yet. If you are addicted to drugs you can get saved with that prayer, but that doesn't mean you have arrived at life. Your life can still be a total mess. You have to follow the Lord, let Him lead you and guide you. Every day you need time in the word and in prayer. You need the fellowship of other saints, you need to gather with other believers. The Christian life is a journey to life. The resurrection life conquers death. It is a journey to arrive at a victorious life in resurrection.
Entering in at the strait gate is not the end of the journey, it is the beginning.
