A single guy can get homemade pies and all sorts of goodies at the farm markets. I've seen me do it.
A single gal can too. Your point?A single guy can get homemade pies and all sorts of goodies at the farm markets. I've seen me do it.
Outdoor markets on once a week don't need to pay as much overheads though so they can work out cheaper and have fresher produce. Some of the produce in supermarkets if they are not fast moving enough can be stale by the time you buy them
There's a whole thing with retail called FMCG - fast moving consumer goods that is the backbone of convenience stores - milk being the top seller, snacks like potato chips, bottled drinks, eggs, butter, bananas, sliced bread..

there's a placid memory living close to a lake that is unrivaled. we live very close to a lake also. in fact, we have a lake house. When you live in a small town (population 2000), your choices are limited.
We have a Harps that is a small local co. (100 or so stores).
It is a beautiful store, always fully stocked, clean and friendly, but you pay for it with prices 25 t0 30% higher than the small Walmart 12 miles away in a town of 1300.
We don't like to shop at Walmart but being on a fixed income and prices going up every day we have no choice. Thankfully, there is a small family run store about 20 miles from us that has an old fashion meat market. Same family and same building for 75 years. We go there once a month to buy our meat. Great meat at fair price, but all other product is 25 to 30% higher than Walmart.
Loving living in town on a lake. Retired here 18 years ago and will never go back to the city.
Yea lots of retired people live near Lake Taupo and Lake Wanaka in New Zealand. Queenstown also has a lake, but it is super expensive to live there. If you worked in the supermarket there, you'd have to live in the next town over.there's a placid memory living close to a lake that is unrivaled. we live very close to a lake also. in fact, we have a lake house.
that's convenient!I get fuel discount at Pak N' Save. 10 cents off when you buy something. They have their own gas station. There's also charging bays for EVs.

don't eat that poison lanolin!!!
Maybe Karlon has gourmet tastes and the mac n' cheese he eats is more of a meccheroni Parmigiano-ReggianoIt must be a really slow acting poison. It has been a staple of my diet for at least the last 50 years.
