Yes, essentially.
Because 'he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit,' 1 Cor 6:17

i don't remember any of your other posts, but this is very good.

see many times in Scripture it is written the children of Yahweh dwell IN UNION WITH YAHWEH, in Yahshua, and in union with each other.
(see throughout NT, and maybe some in OT)

I´m sorry to ask this, but, how does the Holy Spirit acts in us, then? Don´t we have to use or mind to understand what He´s telling us?

Holy Spirit is a spirit. It does not seem to be externally.Wis 1:7 For the spirit of the Lord fills the world, and what which holds everything together knows every world said.

Holy Spirit act in us only Holy people Acts 1:8,Acts 2 full Acts 3 full.

I dont believe in trinity, beside trinity is not biblical written. Its the three dispensation of time that this one God showed himself. From Genesis to Malachi he was the father to the Israelite and from Mathew ,Mark, Luke and John that same God came into a Flesh and his name was Jesus.God is not a man nor a woman, God is a title. The holy Spirit however is the spirit of Jesus. He is the greatest comforter, counselor ( John 14: 26)

In other words, the Holy Spirit comes to us in the name of Jesus. The Holy Spirit does not come to us with a separate identity as some people are saying the trinity nut is the spirit of Jesus - Jesus himself coming to dwell in us spiritually.

Hi I don't pretend to know everything but one thing I do know is
that the Holy Spirit is a person, not a thing, it, or hazy vapour.

I think to start to understand the Holy Spirit it helps to
look at the trinity.

The three persons of the trinity work together and do not
work independant of each other. This pretty much nullifies
the possibility that the Holy Spirit is just our own conscience.

Jesus was God manifest in the flesh, fully man and fully God.

1 Timothy 3:16 NKJV
[16] And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in
the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed
on in the world, Received up in glory.

Jesus could do nothing without the Holy Spirit. His ministry did not start until
he was baptised and the Holy Spirit decended upon him. Notice the three persons
of the trinity were all evident at the baptism of Jesus.

Luke 4:18-21 NKJV
[18] "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach
the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim
liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those
who are oppressed; [19] To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD." [20] Then
He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes
of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. [21] And He began to say to
them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Matthew 3:16-17 NKJV
[16] When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold,
the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove
and alighting upon Him. [17] And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This
is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

All three persons of the trinity were needed for the world to be created.

Genesis 1:1-2 NKJV
[1] In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [2] The earth was without
form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was
hovering over the face of the waters.

John 1:1-5 NKJV
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made through Him, and without
Him nothing was made that was made. [4] In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
[5] And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Jesus said this of Himself that He was the Alpha and the Omega. The invitation to
come and seek salvation included an invitation from the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 22:12-13 NKJV
[12] "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every
one according to his work. [13] I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and
the End, the First and the Last."

Revelation 22:17 AMP
[17] The Holy Spirit and the bride (the church, the true Christians) say, Come! And
let him who is listening say, Come! And let everyone come who is thirsty who is
painfully conscious of his need of those things by which the soul is refreshed,
supported, and strengthened; and whoever earnestly desires to do it, let him
come, take, appropriate, and drink the water of Life without cost.

I will stop there otherwise I will end up quoting the entire bible and I can go
on a bit :). Try thinking of the Holy Spirit as God the Spirit with all the
implications of that and it will blew the subject wide open.

Incidentally it is correct what was said earlier that God the Holy Spirit
communicates with our spirit, we are body (this good looking shell),
soul (that part that makes up our personality etc), and spirit (that part
of us which is dead until we are born again and which can then respond
to, and communicate with God the Holy Spirit). It is the spiritual part
of us which is born again, something that even Nichodemus struggled to
understand.

Hope this makes sense.

well nokay then

thank you for your contribution

if you don't believe, then why insert your unbelief into a thread ABOUT the Holy Spirit?

no...it's not okay actually...but you see, you are free to start your own thread entitled:

I DON'T BELIEVE IN THE TRINITY

not fair to try and hijack this one

I´m sorry to ask this, but, how does the Holy Spirit acts in us, then? Don´t we have to use or mind to understand what He´s telling us?

I am not trying to be intentionally vague with you. I am attempting for you to get in the Word yourself and see that the Holy Spirit does not communicate with us through our minds.

WHen you renew your mind to the Word of God, you will know the voice[I hate using the term voice, because we never follow after voices]of the shepherd and follow him and the voice of the stranger you will not follow[John 10]

In order to grasp the Biblical truth, you have to understand that the Bible teaches we are all 3 part beings.

We are a Spirit, who has a soul[mind, will, emotions, passions, intellect, thoughts] that have a flesh/blood body.

The spirit man in your body is constantly wrestling for ascendancy of your flesh/body with your mind. If you mind runs you and is not renewed with the Word of God, then the body[flesh] will do whatever the mind commands it to do. If your spirit is in control and your mind has been renewed to the Word the Word of God, then your flesh has been crucified[put to death] and you are walking in and living by the Spirit.

The mind has to be renewed to allow the spirit. What ever is in the spirit of a person is what the mind will follow.

I warn you now that many will attack this, because not everyone believes all humans are a 3 part being. If you do not believe God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit are all God, this whole reply will be rejected.

Dear brother,

As a matter of fact I do agree with you. I believe you have 3 parts: spirit, soul and body. I also believe that our inner "battle" is the problem that our soul is being tempted by the flesh (which is weak), when it should go toward our spirit (grow spiritually).

I´m still not clarified, dear brother, I´m sorry. How do you act according to what the Holy Spirit tell you? Conscience? Reading the Bible? Feeling peace after doing our actions? "Small inner voice"? Feelings? Hunches? Or simply because something in our mind (after reflection, or not) tells us to act according to what the Holy Spirit says to us?

Or in other words: how do we act after hearing the "voice" of our sheperd? How do you decide to follow Him? Are you commanded like puppets or in fact you do realize in our minds (and conscience) we should it?

Hi J4E,

I can't speak for everyone, possibly other people experience things differently, to
be honest I have not really discussed this before to find out from others. That's one
of the great things about CC it makes you think! :)

With me I just sort of know or things come to mind that I just have to do and feel it
is important to do, without any logical reason. I suppose when this happens it is
a still small inner voice but it sounds like me, or maybe you might call it a hunch, I've
never really thought about it to try to explain it. I still have free will I can refuse
or I can obey.

These are a couple of examples for you if this helps.

1) When I can, I say hello to the new people in the new introduction forum.
On a few occasions I have got a feeling about a specific person that they
are not here with good intent or something is wrong. Their introductory post
is quite normal and raises no concerns, it's just a strong feeling I get.

Whenever this has happened I say hello like all the others etc and give them the
benefit of the doubt in case it's just me. But then not much later I see they
have been banned and I know that feeling was right and it was a warning.
This has happened a few times now.

2) On one occasion not too long ago I greeted someone and got that feeling. Then that
person sent me a pm to say hello back and to thank me for my friendship asking about me.
When I read the pm I instantly felt a strong feeling of caution, although he said nothing wrong
in the pm at all. I was very careful of what I said and didn't give anything out about myself.
The next day I noticed he had been banned and I felt my caution was justified and
thanked God for the warning.

3) A year or two ago, I was doing some shopping and I felt the overwhelming urge to
buy an elderly friend a mobile phone. As far as i was aware she had never had a mobile
phone before and I didn't know if she would be able to use one - she was over 80 at
the time. I could not shake off this feeling so I spent some time going around different
shops looking for a phone which was simple and with a keyboard, rather than a touch screen
keyboard. Also something with larger buttons etc.

In the end I choose a Nokia phone, as I bought it I felt a strong sense of joy and excitement
and couldn't wait to give her it. I immediately got on the bus and headed for home and on my
way home I stopped by her house.

I knocked on the door and said that I hoped she didn't mind but I had something for her, a mobile
phone. She just looked at me and said "is it a Nokia!" I said yes! Then we both just burst out
laughing on the door step. Both of us knew something amazing had happened but we were laughing
too much to say why.

She then later in the house she explained she had thought about buying a mobile phone but could
not afford it, but she felt God tell her he would provide a phone and it would be a Nokia!

We both felt so blessed that day!

4) There has been many times I have felt tired, weary, burdened etc but as soon as I have
put on a worship CD or prayed, or started reading the bible. An overwhelming sense of Gods
presence has become apparent. At times I have felt bogged down or burdened and the
burden has just been lifted and replaced with a sense of gratitude and sense that everything
is going to be okay. That happened early this year when my aunt wasn't well and ended up
in hospital (I look after my elderly aunt).

There has been numerous other occasions too many to mention.

I find the more you align yourself with God's will the more closer you become to him
and the more you attune to that still small internal voice, who also instructs, convicts and
brings understanding, I have never heard an audible voice incidentally.

Ps I am just a normal weak human being. The more I recognise my
weakness the more I have to rely on His strength. I wouldn't want to come across as
someone who knows it all. I really don't! I get things wrong, say stupid things and am
still learning. I don't think that learning process will end until the next life.

All I know is that I am nothing without Jesus.

incidentally on the matter of the trinity - I think I may have posted this somewhere else.
But I struggled with the trinity also. Then one afternoon I went for a nap and had a dream
that I was reading a book. Only instead of their being two pages open in front of me, there
was 3 pages.

Each page had the head and shoulders of a person and under each picture was a written
description of each person. In the dream I looked at the pictures and description then I woke
up. But as I was waking up a got the strong sense that I had just read about God the Father,
God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. So strong was the feeling that I tried to go back to
sleep again and continue the same dream, but I couldn't.

I could not tell you what I saw or read as I was just left with the general impression of
the trinity rather than the detail. Sort of a good thing really as it wouldn't have been good
to have remembered the complete details of that dream. But that is basically how i came to
realise the Holy Spirit is a person. God showed me in the dream :)

Hi, Miri!

Well, those kind of situations happened to me also, in several ways. I had many situations that I got "hunches" or "feelings" (whatever you want to call it). But my question here is more precise. I´ll give you an example of a situation I recall:

- I simply love "Jesus Christ Superstar" rock opera. In my opinion, it is the best MUSICAL (notice this) work in the 20th century. I know every part of it. Every! However, the closer I got to God, the more uncomfortable I began to feel regarding my favorite musical work (ever). Of course, you can´t dissociate lyrics and all that the movie has. And that´s the problem. I begun to pray and started think over about it. The question was that every time I continued hearing that, I had some kind of feeling that something was not right. I didn´t feel peace. Answer: I believe that the Holy Spirit was telling me that I should not continue listening to it. Simple as that. And today I still feel that I took the right decision, because I feel peace.

So, this is a way that the Holy Spirit can act in us. But my initial question was if God could give us a clear answer after some weeks of prayers, reflection and after asking directly for help and for Him to reveal what would happen and how one should act in a specific situation. This is my question: could one receive and answer "hearing" it through thoughts in that situation?

I suspect the Holy Spirit more works with our here and now, and is not given to telling us the future that is not known in the word of God.

Thanks Skylove, you are beautiful too!

On Sunday, the assistant pastor (youth pastor) was praying over the children before children's church. He referred to the Holy Spirit as "It" several times. I made me shudder. I tried to find him after the service, to tell him the Holy Spirit was not an "it' but he was hiding.

The reason the Holy Spirit is not an "it" is because he is a "person." Therefore, we need to address him as such. We would never refer to Jesus or the Father as an "it" so we should not do this to the Holy Spirit.

As for me, the Holy Spirit guides me and comforts me and encourages me. I always think of what the word παράκλητον or Parklatos in Greek means! If you look at various translations, you will find many different words. Basically, that means it is really not directly translatable into English. The reason is because the word is so rich, and has so many connotations. In other words, we really can't define the Holy Spirit, although we certainly can see his work in our lives and in the church.

"16 κἀγὼ ἐρωτήσω τὸν πατέρα καὶ ἄλλον παράκλητον δώσει ὑμῖν ἵνα ᾖ μεθ’ ὑμῶν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα," John 14:16 Greek

"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" John 14:16 KJV

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another
Helper,to be with you forever," John 14:16 ESV

"
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—" John 14:16

"If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you. I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth" John 14:16-17 The Message
