Why are you not apprehending the meaning of "unmerited favor"?

Because grace is the mighty power of God does not mean it is not unmerited favor.

That glorious and mighty power of God's favor acting in us and for us is always unmerited by us.

What is it you are missing here?

Well d, maybe someday you'll come to understand
the heart of the law is mercy, not boasting, as you seem to be fond of distorting what Jesus actually taught.
Actually, the heart of the law is justice.

Mercy from the justice of the law for those who believe in Christ Jesus
had to be bought and paid for by the death of Christ.

Look...last time I checked mercy came by Jesus...and your response does not address your original comment.....!
And under the law sinners died without MERCY by the mouths of two or three witnesses....so.....?

Yes, they were driven to God by a correct understanding of His word and
Jesus didnt need to call such people, because they were right with God before Jesus came.
Jesus came here to teach us what Zacharias and Elizabeth already knew.
Not quite. . .

The words from him that speaks from heaven are likewise

There is no profit in celebrating and observing Christmas or Easter or Sunday or Valentine's Day from God's viewpoint.
And this relates to Heb 1:1-2, how?

I don't see what the arguing that some are making is all about. They say that Christ died for our sins is an argument. That is talked of all through the bible, how could it be an argument? They say you have to obey every law if you would be saved by law, and all scripture says that. Yet it used as an argument. There is every negative thing about law that scripture ever gives to make for arguments, and the people who think negatives are just WONDERFUL don't give any of what law is for so they can argue.

Lots of people change what God says into "God will get you if you don't watch out" but Jesus will save you from it.

Frankly, I think all the arguers who try to say Christ is from a different side and is opposed to something could better express themselves by simply saying they don't understand either their heavenly Father or Christ.

He likewise gave us new law (Mt 22:37-39) for the new covenant (Lk 22:20)
which fulfills the old law (Mt 22:40) of the old covenant.
The law is not new. Only condensed.
Contrare. . .

The law of Christ does not include the myriad regulations of the law of Moses.

We are not under the law of Moses (1Co 9:20),
but are under the law of Christ (Mt 22:37-39) which is the law of God (1Co 9:21).

And His followers drank from that cup.
They entered into agreement with Him about the law.
Yes, his law given in Mt 22:37-39.

Actually, the heart of the law is justice.
There is no justice in punishing the guiltless in place of the guilty

Mercy from the justice of the law for those who believe in Christ Jesus
There is no belief in Christ without obedience to Christ.

Through His unjust murder, yes. Jesus wasn't being punished by His Father.

Agreed. . .the glory of Christ Jesus, God's One and Only Son, is foreshadowed in the OT.
yep! :)

the OT predicts God's rescue; the NT presents God's rescue.

Do you read the scriptures?

Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering FOR SIN

MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY hast thou forsaken me!

Bruised, put to shame and forsaken.......!

Yes, his law given in Mt 22:37-39.
So, Christ didn't include Moses. Christ said he changed nothing.
Scripture says the law doesn't save, we aren't under the law. You seem to feel we should rip it out of our scripture because we "aren't under it".
I am glad that as you argue, it is not that the law of God is different from the law of Christ at least, even if what God gave Moses was such a bum steer!

Unless you say the rituals were law. That was no bum steer given Moses, it is that the Holy Spirit replaces them. They led to the law, they were reminders of the law, but they weren't the law.

I suggest a deep study of the word gospel and what it actually means, as it does not always mean the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus...THE CORRECT MESSAGE (gospel) was to GO IN AND TAKE THE LAND because God had given it unto them and God would drive out the inhabitants of the LAND....they believed the LIES of the 10 spies over the TRUTH of the other two spies Joshua and Caleb and were driven from the place of rest into the wilderness....

Man, You sure have a lot to learn for sure! I would highly recommend a good study about biblical interpretation centered on biblical salvation first......!

Yes quite. Jesus came preaching repentance from sin. They had already repented, or Luke would not have adjudicated them "righteous".
Not quite. . .

Their personal righteousness did not save them.

Luke 1:11-13
And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense.
Zacharias was troubled when he saw the angel, and fear gripped him.
But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will give him the name John."

v. 18-20
Zacharias said to the angel, “How will I know this for certain? For I am an old man and my wife is advanced in years.”
The angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
And behold, you shall be silent and unable to speak until the day when these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”

soooo...if whatever is not of faith is sin...
maybe blameless according to the Law and sinless are not the same?

the OT predicts God's rescue; the NT presents God's rescue.
in the OT, it uses what Christ did according to eternal time for atonement that was completed into salvation when the veil was split, in the NT Christ's blood is used for our salvation.

I like to see the Christ crucified on the cross as a large umbrella of grace. Under that umbrella we first find mercy, His Spirit, then things like power, wisdom, sanctification, etc. In other words grace begins and flows from Calvary issuing forth all that is needed for godliness.
