The Makeup Thread - For Guys and Girls

I wear eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. I quit using foundation or concealer to cover my freckles cause it didnt work anyway.

Freckles should never be covered. Think of them as natural makeup.

Also I did not say anything about makeup equating to sexual promiscuity. I was referring to the industry as a whole, makeup, women's magazines, etc.. those things I repeatedly referenced.

So you nitpick what I didn't want noticed. You misrepresent what I actually said. Tell me I don't get the point of the thread and then attempt to use some sort of humorous gibberish to diffuse it all. Your humor did not work. I found your post quite irritating. For the reasons I stated above. Though given how you constructed this post I'm sure I can assume a false accusation about my reasons for disliking your post to follow.

I'm going to both agree and disagree whilst noting that you said it was a broad and general example. I think that rather than binary types of men, there is a chart sort of like a Punnet Square, but instead of hard categories it's a spectrum. I also don't think it's men dictating as much as it is women trying to one up each other and gain an advantage in the "sexual marketplace". Of course this means that they play right into what men want, but I don't think it's necessarily an imposition.

And while I agree that how you present yourself tells others what kind of person you are, in reference to this thread I don't think that the decision to wear or not to wear makeup says anything about sexual promiscuity.

It's at this point that I'd like to note that you may disagree with my disagreeing position. At that point it would be considered a disagreement which, some might find disagreeable to a degree, but I find amicable disagreements to be rather enjoyable. Wouldn't you agree?

Even though this post was way too sophisticated for me to even start making heads or tails of it, I HAD to give it a "like" just for the mention of a Punnet Square.

And here I thought I was the only one who scribbled those out on napkins when trying to sort out different variables...

I didn't mean any offense and I'm sorry if I've caused any. Also, I don't come bearing accusations. How about an olive branch instead? Or cookies. I like cookies way better than olives.

Why, were you trying to make yourself less attractive to unwanted secret admirers and/or creepers by covering freckles and that still didn't stop them from approaching you?

It took a very long time for me to not see my freckles as a skin deformity. I got picked on really bad in elementary school becayse of them.... so after always being the chubby girl with the ugly polkadotted face...it took its toll. Thankfully God has shown me that i am fearfully and wonderfully made. Chub and polkadots and all lol

Yet, society/media/culture leads women to believe that they need makeup to be pretty and to look professional and put together. Many things guys consider "hot" are smoky eyes, thick lashes, red lips, etc. (amongst provocative poses, I suppose) Is this all just a ploy to get women to buy makeup products?? { largely - YES! }

Makeup exists for the following reasons - listed in order of deterioration of motive, from good / better to bad / worse:

~ Facial-reconstruction enhancer to balance high-contrast areas of the face for a more "even" appearance.

~ Enhance the natural beauty of females in society by "raising" the visual appeal of their appearance.

~ A means of making billions by convincing women that they are not attractive or pretty without it.

~ A means to increase the sex-appeal of women, so as to be provocative ( Yes, you chose a very good word. ) - to "sex up" the males in society - to boost sexual tension in males, and keep it high constantly / continually.

These are the real reasons for makeup. ( As I see it. )

The third one is probably the majority factor motive - in terms of the effort to grow and maintain it - because of its importance and significance as a money-making scheme.

You might wonder about the difference between the second one and the fourth one. The only real difference has to do with motive and depth-of-purpose. The second one has a measure of innocent intent, while the fourth one is "pure evil" by comparison. It is like comparing the desire to adorn the landscape of society with things that are artistically pretty and wholesome - to the manipulation of society by pushing the male members of the society to constantly be tempted to lust after the female members of the society. ( Keep in mind that I am talking about 'intent' and 'motive' here. I am not saying that every male in society is uncontrollably locked into it - or some such thing. I am saying that there is real and actual far-from-innocent intent and motive behind it. And, it is not something over-powering; rather, it is a subtle-but-effective psychological influence on at least most of the male population of society. )

I applaud you for "waking up" - and beginning to see reality for what it actually is.

You see -- what makeup does is - make a woman "look good" [ to a man ] at a distance. ( i.e. - it "creates" appeal [ even ] from a distance ) But, when the woman is close enough that you can see the makeup on her face, it actually takes away from her natural appearance. Because, it is a mask - a facade. However, to a certain degree, the 'sex-appeal' is still present.


What I am saying is that - the reasons for the existance and use of makeup in modern society include some "innocent" uses - but, are mostly based on more devious and selfish motives.


I am just telling you the honest truth the way I see it, darlin'...

I am not trying to shame anyone or be holier-than-thou. Honest. I am simply telling it like I see it.

It is not my intent for this post to cast any negative dispersions on anyone -- except, perhaps, the evil-doers who have the selfish motives...

In answer to your main question...

I am somewhat of a "naturalist" with regard to this topic. I generally prefer the 'natural' appearance of a woman - i.e. - less makeup is better.
