The first blades I tried tore up my face, but the ones I use now are much better. I sometimes get razor burn but only if I press down. Using just the weight of the razor to move it, I almost never get razor burn.

The shaving soap and balm also help a ton with healing my face. The soap has this icy hot feel when you do have razor burn.

Oh yes i did try different razors and stuff. I found out that the best way to avoid burn for me was to shave right after a shower and to just use hand soap for lubrication. The bar kind. Just rub it onto your wet hands and get them real slick, then apply it to your neck. It actually worked better than shaving cream. I read about it in a mens magazine. I used Dove soap. I heard that shaving in the shower was best, but then you have to figure out how to get a mirror that won't fog up.

I switched to shaving after a shower, too. It’s much better. I don’t trust myself without a mirror.
