Moses who was married, put away his marriage life to serve God.

um, in fact Miriam was struck by God with leprosy after complaining about Moses's marriage.

does not seem that he put away either of his wives.

Moses is a picture of Christ and the bride of Christ is us, His church. does Jesus forsake His wife?

whoever loves fulfills the law.

no one is arguing that the Christian should go around sinning or that they do not have a standard of righteousness that they should strive to live by - - but that standard is not the Law of Moses, it is love, and the covenant of Christ is of faith, not of works.

nowhere did His apostles preach, 'obey the 10 commandments and you will be saved' - - they preached 'believe on the LORD Jesus Christ' - - because the promises of Salvation are not according to what we have done but Who we have put our trust in: ourselves and our works and willpower? or in Christ Who redeemed us?

Jesus Christ said, if you want eternal life keep the Commandments, yes I am now aware many on this site think there is one way for Jews and another for gentiles,, I will stick with the one who died for me, Paul is easily misunderstood.

The works of the Law/Torah is the sacrificial law which was added to the Torah because the Children could not stop sinning. Christ gave the one sacrifice that the sacrificial law was foreshadowing.

there is no work involved in not lying.

posthuman

"whoever loves fulfills the law" this is what that means,, You love your neighbor by not lying to him, by not stealing what is his, by not fornicating with his wife , not lusting after what he has and not killing him when you are angry with him

and the first 4 are how one shows love towards God. Living by the 10 Commandments IS LOVE

the word "love" means what?? ask a hundred people to define love and you will get 159 answers.

I want clearly understood words not abstract ones with 50 meanings,

Jesus Christ said, if you want eternal life keep the Commandments,

haven't you said the promises are physical life not eternal? the law says do, because it is not of faith.

He said, you know the commandments.

and the man he said it to, said he had done that, but knew that it wasn't enough.

but the first thing He said, was why do you call Me good?

what do you say, is Christ good?
did this man have faith?

there were sacrifices long before the ten commandments were given, and the very first thing in Exodus 10 after the decalogue is the law of the altar.

you are making things up from thin air that have no basis in scripture.

No.

if you are angry with him, you are already guilty of murder.

if you had love you don't need to go check a list to see if what you want to do is OK or not and then depend on your willpower to make an outward show of righteousness - - keeping the outside of your rotten seplechure whitewashed.
love isn't a step by step instruction manual.

Love is a person; His name is Emmanuel.

the ministry of death was written on stone.
the ministry of life is love, and it is written on the heart.

righteousness does not change, but the Law does.

Adam ate only fruits and vegetables. Noah was given all flesh as food. the Israelite were given division between meat, that the Gentiles were not, and the Christian can eat anything he or she gives thanks for.
physical circumcision was not required, then required, then became sinful if undertaken.

laws change.

Paul is easily misunderstood.

you keep repeating this.

my intuition is that you have three reasons for doing so:

  • you know deep inside that Paul explicitly destroys your soteriology, so you intentionally sow confusion about him. you want to win an argument, not reach the Truth, so you don't want to allow the clear teaching of the gospel in the NT to be introduced as evidence.
  • you do not understand Paul and make no attempt to - - so you keep saying Paul is difficult to understand, even tho you have no idea who said it ((maybe John? Lol)), because it gives you an excuse not to understand the Truth - - the Truth is hard. poor you.
  • your rabbi specifically taught you this mantra, because he does understand Paul, and he understands how dangerous it would be for you to hear the gospel that Paul preached. he does not want you to read Romans, Galatians, Collosians or Ephesians, because he will lose control over you if you understand it and become free.
for like the 4th or 5th time now, please allow me to suggest that you try to understand what Paul wrote. Romans is the Leviticus of the NT - - get to work!

Paul is easily misunderstood

you do not even know who said this.

it's Peter - -

2 Peter 3:15-16
And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.
it is in fact quite simple to find and to understand what Peter is talking about; it's gnosticism - -
Romans 3:7-8
For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? And why not say, "Let us do evil that good may come"? — as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just.
it is in fact you and @vassal who have ignorantly ((i sure hope it's just ignorance!)) twisted the gospel here, saying that because salvation is by grace through faith, not of works, then we must be excusing sin and willfully living wickedly.

as you have also twisted Mark 10:17-27
Jesus does not say that the Law saves. He tells a faithless unbelievimg man to go back to the Law and look for Him.

Jeremiah 7

21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.

In other word; go ahead and eat your burnt offerings along with your sacrifices – they are all worthless to ME. Why?

They agreed to; Obey my voice”, --- But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear,

22 For I spake -- not -- unto your fathers, -- nor commanded -- them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, -- concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

Lev 26: 1 - 39 is the covenant --read it --no sacrifices are in it.

23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, --- “Obey my voice”,--- and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: --- and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, -- that it may be well unto you.

24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels [and] in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

In Galatians 3, Paul, a Torah Scholar, confirmed that fact.

19 Wherefore then [serveth] -- the law? It was addedbecause oftransgressions, till the seed (Christ) should come to whom the promise was made; [and it was] ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Without a Law codifying what is a transgression, no transgression is possible -- the sacrificial law was added to make the people see -- transgression of God's Holy Torah means death.

offering sacrifices caused the people to acknowledge their sins.

In both Books, 1500 pages, 1420 teach obey the Torah and 80 pages, using the words of Paul, that the MANY have twisted,,, say you do not have to obey!

Abraham, the father of THE FAITHFUL, Kept the Torah. Genesis 26: 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my "laws". (#8451 Torah)

A carnal mind can never obey. you can follow paul, I will follow Jesus Christ.

Romans 9:16
human will or exertion

That answer sounds like it comes from a child with no understanding and it avoids the question.

Romans 9:16 does not define “works of the law.” It only says salvation is not based on human desire or effort. That is not a definition. It is a conclusion.

If we actually let Paul define his own term, “works of the law” are specific actions of the Law that people relied on to claim righteousness. Paul himself explains this. He points to circumcision, food laws, feast days, and boundary markers that separate Jews from Gentiles. For example, circumcision is named directly as the issue in Galatians 2:3–5 and Galatians 5:2–4. Food laws appear in Galatians 2:12. These are the kinds of works Paul argues against when people trust them for justification. So even by Paul’s own words, “works of the law” are not simple obedience to God, but ritual law used to boast and exclude. Paul knows this perfectly well since he was a pharisees himself before his conversion, now remember if you read it inn Matthew 23 where Jesus rebukes severely the pharisees, well this is the same thing paul said in a different way.

Now set Paul aside and listen to Jesus, because Jesus clearly tells us what God calls “works.” and their true meaning.
Jesus says, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent” (John 6:29, NKJV). Belief here is not empty words. Jesus also says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15). He says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father” (Matthew 7:21). He finishes by saying the wise man is the one who hears His words and does them (Matthew 7:24).
According to Jesus, works are simple and clear the core of the matter is this: Believing Him, obeying God, loving God, and loving others. These are not rituals to boast in. They are the fruit of a living faith.

Jesus goes even further and shows that what people call “works” are not cold rules, but love made alive by the Holy Spirit.
He teaches that the whole Law is fulfilled in love. He says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart… and you shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:37–40, NKJV). When the Spirit of God is in a person, obedience turns into love, not burden.
Jesus then gives very plain examples so no one can pretend to misunderstand. He says that feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, clothing the naked, caring for the sick, and visiting those in prison are counted as service done to Him personally (Matthew 25:35–40). These are not rituals. These are acts of love.
He also points to mercy as true obedience. “I desire mercy and not sacrifice” (Matthew 9:13). This shows that God was never focused on outward religious acts, but on a heart moved by compassion.

Jesus lived this out Himself. He ate with the poor, healed the sick, touched the outcast, and cared for widows and the broken. These are the works that flow from the Spirit all based on the LAW, that are the covenant defined by the ten commandments and summarized in the two greatest commandments, the first, to love God above all else, the second to love one another. there works dome out if love are not done to earn salvation, but because God’s life through the Holy Spirit is already working in a person.

So answering “works of the law” with “human will or exertion” is not only weak, it is defiant toward Scripture. Paul defines the term one way, and Jesus defines true works another way. Jesus never condemns obedience. He condemns hypocrisy, pride, and trusting rituals instead of trusting God. So when Jesus defines true works, they are simple, human, and loving. Caring for widows, feeding the poor, showing mercy, and walking in obedience. This is what the Law looks like when it is written on the heart by the Spirit.

comment:

you will not understand so why bother explaining, but I will explain this.

Many say we are saved by faith.. Yes, but what does that mean? does it just mean I trust Christ, not really, trust what?

There is one major thing we must trust, have faith in. that is the payment Christ made, He paid our debt for our sins, In that sacrifice I TRUST and have faith IN.
I trust, have faith in the sacrifice of Christ that saved me from eternal death.

To understand "words", they must have clear, accurate and true meanings, other wise they are just a bunch of noise.
Grace is another.

calling the ten commandments of GOD that are the covenant a ministry of death is a very grave sin!

7Now if the ministry of death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at the face of Moses because of its fleeting glory, 8will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9For if the ministry of condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry of righteousness! II Corinthians

So, it can be easily determined that the commandments ... that is the 10 commandments, because all the rest of the law was not written in stone...are in truth THE ministry of death.

See, the Bible does not appeal to everyone in truth, but it does seem to appeal to those who wish to make their own religion and desire to deceive those who are not acquainted with scripture.

The 10 commandments are not our covenant with God. Jesus is our High Priest who has entered into the Holy of Holies once for all and so putting your trust in HIS accomplishment is our covenant. It is a covenant of blood, not hard, unrelenting stone.

Ask yourself why vassal would be trying to change what scripture states. Something is very badly wrong with anyone who rejects scripture and pushes a false doctrine.

26 vNow as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and wafter blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you cin my Father’s kingdom.”
Matthew 26

calling the ten commandments of GOD that are the covenant a ministry of death is a very grave sin!

you are really so unfamiliar with the Word of God?

2 Corinthians 3:5-8
... our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?

That answer sounds like it comes from a child with no understanding and it avoids the question.

Romans 9:16 does not define “works of the law

perhaps you are not able to understand what you read?

Romans 9:30-32
What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.

and to what does this refer? to Israel under the covenant with the law, contrasted with those who are children by faith, which the previous 8 chapters have left no question but that they are not under the law -

Romans 9:4
who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises;

and, with many examples, the Spirit declares - -

Romans 9:14-16
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not! For He says to Moses,
"I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion."
So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.

throughout this entire book those who work, who trust in their own actions and inactions, are contrasted with those who believe and trust only in Christ their Savior.

in chapter 9 specifically, Israel is discussed - faithlessly keeping a law as tho that would make them righteous. Faith - which saves - is contrasted with works of the law - which condemn - and it is declared, it is not of human will or effort ((works of the Law)) but of God Who has mercy ((faith))

what human will and effort is spoken of?
everything done by those who put their trust in keeping the works of the law.
therefore yes, it is a tautological definition within the framework of the exposition of the gospel found here.

calling the ten commandments of GOD that are the covenant a ministry of death is a very grave sin!
Calling the Ten Commandments of God a “ministry of death” is a very grave sin because it speaks evil of what God Himself called holy, good, and life-giving, and it directly contradicts what Jesus taught.

First, the Ten Commandments come from God’s own voice. God did not give them to destroy people, but to teach them how to live. Moses said, “He declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments” (Deuteronomy 4:13, KJV). A covenant from God is not a curse. It is a gift that shows His will and His care for His people.

Second, God clearly says His commandments are for life, not death. Moses told Israel, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19, KJV). The commandments show the path of life. Death comes from sin, not from the law that points out sin.

Third, Jesus fully honored and defended the commandments. He never spoke against them. He said, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law… I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil” (Matthew 5:17, KJV). Then He warned, “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:19, KJV). To call God’s commandments a ministry of death is exactly the kind of teaching Jesus warned against.

Fourth, Jesus tied eternal life directly to keeping God’s commandments. When the rich young ruler asked about eternal life, Jesus answered, “If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17, KJV). Jesus did not say the commandments bring death. He said they lead to life.

Fifth, Jesus explained that the real problem is the human heart, not God’s law. He taught that evil comes from within, from the heart of man, and that this is what defiles a person (Matthew 15:18–20, KJV). The law exposes sin, but it does not cause it. Blaming the commandments for death is like blaming light for showing dirt. The light is good. The dirt is the problem.

Sixth, calling the commandments a ministry of death accuses God of evil. Scripture says, “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul” (Psalm 19:7, KJV), and “All his commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever” (Psalm 111:7–8, KJV). To label what God calls perfect and sure as death is to speak against God’s character.

Finally, this kind of language leads people away from obedience. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15, KJV). When people are taught that God’s commandments are death, they are taught to fear obedience instead of loving it. This turns people away from the very words by which Jesus said we will be judged. “The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48, KJV).

For these reasons, calling the Ten Commandments a ministry of death is not a small mistake. It dishonors God’s covenant, contradicts Jesus’ own words, confuses sin with the law that exposes it, and leads people away from the path of life that God lovingly gave.
