The verse Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. -Genesis 3:16 is important. Also, 2 other verses that I have written and keep in my journal help to:

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. -Ephesians 5:22

A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. -1 Timothy 2:11

If you wish to live under a curse, then by all means follow what God said to Eve...that was a curse

Please read post 346...if you are going to follow only the OT, do you expect your future husband to have more than
one wife?

I'm just sharing my truth and my personal beliefs that are supported by the scriptures. I should have the right to share my beliefs.

but that is just it...you are NOT following scripture....these are verses picked out by men who desire to have total control over women

God has so much more for you...you cannot put a man in the place of God which a woman does if she thinks her husband is everything and she is just a sidekick

I just can't say what I would like to say

Actually, there is not ENOUGH scripture in this thread...the op is one sided, biased and anti-woman of God

Actually there is plenty of scripture to support the OP. Not just in the OT but in the NT as well

Hey Ember n Ashley. Yea I do wanna make comment. Now bear in mind this comes from the worldy experience of 14 years so...yea theres that. My view of where Ashley is coming from is a total dedication to GOD and her belief & view of what the words of the bible tell her in being able to serve GOD. Geez I cant criticize that even tho I don't agree with the result. My view is that I actually have a problem with so many verses in the bible that ... in my belief....some verses ultimately decrease the status of women, they decrease our value and can place us in a position of being dominated. I don't want to hear of anything that expresses some law, written at a time of male dominated ethnic tribes several thousand years ago that says a man is the head of the partnership. You can re-express this in as many ways as you want and say it doesn't mean anything negative but to me it is something I cant accept. Does that make me a pagan. I hope not...I hope GOD wouldn't say... OK Zoii u were totally OK n u would got in here except that stuff u said about not wanting to be dominated. I'm pretty confident he'd like me anyway so I'm sticking with my view. ...... and don't get me started on the verses in Deut.

says who? You? it appears your trite one liner was directed at me as it appeared under my comments

You don't know what you are talking about

My husband and I come from very different worlds..we have rubbed off some very offensive rough spots on each other

A woman who is passive is about good for nothing...she does not help her husband at all...but rather solidifies everything in him and he becomes even more full of himself

I realize there are men who would have it no other way...quite frankly, if all you can do is pop in one liners, I'm not impressed

I think people need to get away from the "domination" part. God isn't telling women to be dominated by a man. This is pride talking and domination isn't even apart of it. Does God dominate us?

Sometimes saying no is being submitted.

zoii...I have lived IN the world with a very ungodly man that I loved more than anything ...yes I was in sin...(after my first marriage which was very abusive) and I am now married to a man that comes from a family that held church life as the center of their world...missionary parents..father founded a big church...etc...worked with Billy Graham etc..my main disillusionment was with Christians and their stinking hypocrisy ... so I have seen things from both sides and down the middle...yeah, I could use less drama LOL! but it is what it is

I am not looking for anyone's view...I want the truth...I have and I will change and I need to change...that is, before God...and my husband has a very short list of what he thinks I could work on...and I have and I think that's fair...works both ways

My father was 'controlled' by my mother and she messed up BIG time...I've seen that too...thankfully, I am like my dad...I guess if I were not a Christian, my motto would be live and let live...well I'm an artist...so we are all kind of wired that way anyway haha

See, I don't believe Ashley has total dedication to God...I thought at one time that was what I had...pray for God to reveal your heart to you as David prayed and watch what happens next

My honest bottom line is..I want to be myself...the person God created me to be...my husband has been somewhat controlling and that never works...that is what he grew up with...I, on the other hand, grew up with use your mind...you can be what you want to be...my dad was flexible and understanding...I gravitated to him not my mother at all. hah I even look like him sans the moustache and receding hairline (well he's passed on and I will always love and miss him)...my husband knows the special relationship I had with him...my husband knows about my living with someone and the abusive first marriage....BEFORE we were married...and I know about him and his 'stuff'

Deep down inside, I just have too much life to make a rug out of it....and I believe God, my Creator, has made me that way...I am a fighter...I come out swinging but you would want me on your side and I am on my husband's side...which is the opposite of what I saw growing up

I have a few years on you guys and you will find you change...alot...if you plant yourself in Jesus Christ rather than in a mortal who is as fallible as you are

Don't forget the end of life role where it is possible and could go either way that a man may have to take care of his wife or the wife might have to take care of her husband as they could toward end of life be unable to play their part. So the wife might end up making all the decisions and carrying the whole load......

Of course there are widows, and single mothers etc. that carry the whole load too.....So the role of women is a large one....

no...I have a real blog for my photography/art biz...website, fb page etc that gives me no time for any other type of blog then the ones that pertain to helping me with mine

I read/study the Bible, have 7 acres here to look after as my husband is 2000 miles away working and we are selling our home and moving so by gosh jolly gee whiz I just don't have the time

But you know, I have always believed one should do what they are capable of and not wait for someone else to do it and I learned that philosophy while working in my maternal Grand-dads business...he came over from Europe with nothing...worked for a year to get his wife and 3 daughters over and made himself a millionaire

Now I'm not a millionaire, and that's another story, but I sure can put in a good days work and my husband is not worried..the man knows he can count on me and we talk together every day and tell each other what all we are doing and he always says he loves me and blah blah blah

And that, is REAL life

I guess I'm lost in what you are trying to get at? How does this pertain to scripture and what God says? It is awesome you are a hard worker and I'm sorry you have to stay away from your husband for long periods. I was gone from my family for long periods and God told me it was time to get a different job and stay home with my family. I took less pay to be with my family every night and help raise our son. I haven't regretted it one bit and my wife and I share responsibilities around the house and make decisions together. Pretty much all the time we agree on almost everything to include our walk with the Lord. She does look to me for guidance on spiritual matters, but this isn't out of her thinking she is inferior to me but because I have studied the Word for more years than her. I just think this thread has turned into a Man controls the Wife thread and that isn't in no way what scripture says.

Maybe we should all break down each verse and see what part of the verse people disagree with?

I understand that a lot of women have been in abusive marriages and have seen the worst in men. One thing we need look at is the relationship you and your husband had with the Lord? Were you both spiritually mature in the Lord and walking with the Lord? 2 Corinthians 6:14 tells us to not be unequally yoked. So if men are marrying women who aren't Godly and the same for women with men then we are going to probably run into situations where abuse and domination happens. If we can't follow the simple teachings of scripture how can we follow the more in depth things? We won't because we get hurt and then we get angry and after that we stray so far away from truth that we start making up our own truths from our hurts. I have been there and believe me I completely turned away from God and resorted to paganism after my divorce. I didn't have a serious relationship with a woman for 11 years. Now that the Lord called me back home my life and relationships have changed for the better. Sorry for going on but I wanted you to know that I understand abuse and hate and anger from what someone has done but if we really look at the situation, did we trust in the Lord from the start with who we decided to be with or was it our own decision, leaving the Lord out of it?

No...but the concept of men dominating .. being the head...the woman the lesser partner and the one who must be silent...well u get the picture - Now that's my issue. Its not pride - its a desire not to ever have myself in a position where I am a lesser partner.... So CelleDe go do what I tell you and I don't wanna hear your comments.... You probably didn't like that did you - if you didn't then your starting to get my point

Ok you are taking it to the extreme. I for one have never told my wife that and she has never told me that. If you are in a relationship like that then yes it is wrong. The bible doesn't support this.

I'm editing this post because I just saw your age. So I'm guessing you have seen this from your mom and dad? Because right now I'm having a hard time seeing that you have gone through this personally.

That's a very valid point. One that a lot of the "man makes all the decisions and has final say camp" likes to ignore.

There's been a very poignant example of this in the news lately. Newlywed refused to give up on husband in coma -- and months later, he woke up - AOL.com

Danielle Davis was married to her husband, Matt, for just seven months when he was badly injured in 2011 in a horrific motorcycle accident, leaving him in a coma with multiple broken bones. He was just 22 at the time. Doctors gave Danielle the grim news that odds of his recovery weren't good, and told her to take him off life support and let him die. Doctors told Danielle that there was a 90 percent chance that Matt would never wake up.Not one to give up quickly, Danielle DECIDED to keep him on life support. Danielle took Matt home where she and her mother cared for him around the clock.

Danielle changed his feeding tube, physically moved him to prevent bed sores, and even administered his daily 20 medications. Remarkably, Matt opened his eyes. After two and a half months in the coma, Matt attempted to communicate.

Matt didn't remember the accident, or anything from the past three years including his wife, his wedding, and the death of his father two years earlier. He had suffered a brain injury that leaves most people in a permanent vegetative state.

He slowly began to improve, and after three months he uttered his first words: "I'm trying." His personality eventually began to surface again. One day they asked him what he wanted to eat and Danielle recalled, "I kid you not, he said, 'Buffalo chicken wrap from Cheddar's.'" That was one of Matt's favorite foods.

After months of rehabilitation, Matt learned to walk. Four years later, he's started driving a stick shift car again. He does yoga and has made a trip to Disney World.

He hasn't regained the memory he lost, but he's gotten to know his wife all over again and says he wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her. Matt said, "I'm sure glad I married her."

I'm saying this is where the rubber meets the road

How do you apply scripture practically? in the end, it has to mean something, eh?

well, we have been separated before for work...but this will be the longest...but thanks!

I just think this thread has turned into a Man controls the Wife thread and that isn't in no way what scripture says.

well I'm glad you said this, because for some reason, this was not clear to me...it seemed to me you were taking the stand of the op..which is pretty much the wife being controlled and one sided in representation
