I just wanted to discuss the sin of blasphemy of the holy Spirit. I believe I have the Spirit when I say there's no unforgivable sin, period. Let's consider what the Bible says. The pharisees called the Spirit Jesus cast out demons with the prince of devil's. So he tells them they'll never be saved. But to be saved you must accept the Spirit. To be saved you must accept Jesus and you'll never be saved if you think he's the devil. Do you really think the holy Spirit is so touchy He can't forgive a comment? Plenty of people have called charismatics demon possessed but they receive Jesus and the Holy Spirit and are saved. The Holy Spirit led me to this conclusion. Because even men can forgive a comment but not if they were completely hated and austrasized.

but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

This is a very dangerous path. Oncefallen has already addressed your main point, and I’ll address the implications. If you think the Holy Spirit, Who is the Author of Scripture, is telling you that the words of Scripture are wrong, there is no end to the heresy you will believe.

Here’s a hint: it ain’t the Holy Spirit!

There is only one thing that cannot be changed which in turn makes it unforgivable.

The Bible does not come right out and state it…which is a good thing because I believe that there would be natural people (body and soul) who would take that course.

A person who is body, soul, and spirit (born again) cannot commit the blaspheme against the Spirit.

People who are concerned that they may have committed it … haven’t! …………. A person who has done so knows who they are and what they are…. and would never express any concern or wonder as to….. If they had committed the unforgivable sin.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit

Question:

In Matthew 12: 31 (and the parallels in Mark 3: 29 and Luke 12: 10) Jesus says: “And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” Jesus died that our sins might be forgiven—all of them. So just what is this blasphemy against the Holy Spirit that will not be forgiven?

Answer:

The Greek word translated “blasphemy” is βλασφημία (blas-fay-me’-ah). To be accurate, the word is not translated, it is simply transliterated, much as the verb βαπτίζω (bap-tid’-zo, “to dip”) is transliterated as “baptize”—both words are Greek, “Englished.” In classical Greek literature “blasphemy” refers to abusive speech in the intensified sense of personal mockery and ridicule. It may refer to overt speech or simply to one’s attitude.

To understand blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, we must first understand the role of the Holy Spirit in the economy of salvation. Within the triune nature of God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—each “person” plays a unique role. In John 14: 16-17 Jesus says, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.” The Counselor is the παράκλητος (par-ak’-lay-tos), a word etymologically derived from παρά (“alongside”) and κᾰλέo (“to call”); John uses it in his gospel to describe the Holy Spirit: thus, the Holy Spirit is one “called alongside.” The word is rarely used in classical Greek, and only John uses it in the New Testament.

As we noted in our previous blog, the Holy Spirit is “called alongside” humanity for two distinct purposes: 1) in relation to the world, and 2) in relation to the family of God, the Church. In relation to the world, Jesus says: “When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16: 8). That is, in regard to the world, the Holy Spirit will create a sense of conviction regarding the reality of sin, the holiness of God, and the inevitable judgment that must follow: if sin is real, and if God is holy, then God must, by his very nature, judge sin. We are all born into a condition of sin, and we cannot take one step toward salvation until we recognize that reality. In relation to the Church, the Holy Spirit has two distinct roles: 1) in regard to the Church as a corporate body, the Holy Spirit is to guide, shape and nurture the Church down through the ages, and 2) in regard to individuals within the Church, the Holy Spirit is to take up residence within us as our Comforter and to provide talents, gifts and abilities to be used in the service of the family of God.

When Jesus speaks of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit he refers to the Holy Spirit’s purpose in relation to the world. In the world the Holy Spirit holds up the mirror of reality so that we might see ourselves as God sees us: fallen, lost and in desperate need of a Savior. If we respond to the Holy Spirit and accept that reality, we have taken our first step toward God forgiving our sin and restoring our rightful place in his creation. Conversely, if we respond to the Holy Spirit by mocking, ridiculing and rejecting his testimony, we stay where we are: lost in a fallen world.

To use an analogy, if I have a fatal illness and my doctor has a medicine that will cure it, the medicine will not help me unless I recognize that I have the illness to begin with, and then accept the cure that my doctor offers. In the same way, we cannot accept the gift of salvation until we recognize that we are in a sinful condition, and that God has the cure. If we reject the Holy Spirit’s testimony regarding sin, righteousness and judgment, then our sin cannot be forgiven—not because God refuses to forgive us—but because we refuse to recognize the condition we are in and accept the cure.

When Jesus says, “blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven,” he is not commenting on God’s failure to respond to us, but on our failure to respond to God

I say -------Anyone who is a True Born Again Christian and has experienced the Blessings and Goodness of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit will never --never want to Blaspheme the Holy Spirit ------

Oh boy. Where to even begin with this one.

I believe we can take Jesus at His word and for some reason it appears you think otherwise and have figured out a way to get around what He said. First off, it is God who hands down the final judgement and not the Holy Spirit. People who think refusing Jesus is the unforgiveable sin but it is not that either.

And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. Matthew 12:32

That verse does not indicate that the Holy Spirit is the one standing in the place of judgement. You have misunderstood. Badly. You have badly misunderstood. Christians do not even want to believe there is a literal hell these days because they have God confused with all the feely meely Christians who don't take scripture seriously and think that God has somehow become just like them.

And as for MacArthur and his companions, they will be judged by what they have said also.

The Holy Spirit is touchy. He is holy. Why are you so off on this?

Jonathan, i don't know if it's your diet or your school that's causing some confusion for you but i'd start with eating more.
Maybe you have low blood sugar - based on what i saw your diet is from another topic.

.
It might be there's more than one unforgivable sin. For example:

Heb 6:4-6 . . For it is impossible for those who have once been
enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy
Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of
the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because
to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God afresh and subjecting him to
public disgrace.

We know that with God nothing is impossible. So, I think we have to
acquiesce that the impossibility spoken of above is so because God makes
it His mission in life, so to speak, to assure that folks blessed with the level
of advantages spoken of here are never to be given an opportunity to
reconsider-- ever. The die is cast. (e.g. Judas Iscariot)

they were completely hated and austrasized.
I'm not certain what this means...
but it sounds as if people are being turned into Australians.

All good Christians should unite against this, it's clearly unnatrual.

So, supposedly the Holy Spirit told you that Christ lied?

Luke 12:
8 “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. 9 But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God. 10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven,
but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
Yes, and this verse is not spoken in a vacuum without other verses repeating the same truth...

Hebrews 6
4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. 7For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

Hebrews 10:15
“Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,”
...
Hebrews 10:26,27
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,”
“But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.”

We have been warned by both the Spirit and the Word.

At the very least, they are very foolish and reckless. Between that and their Calvinism, they have precious little going for them.

I say, "Learn how to use capitalization and pluralization properly in your written English."
