No, there's no particular reason why it shouldn't be discussed. You'll find tons of analyses of who and who isn't a Christian, and who is and isn't enough of a Christian in plenty of places all over the forum (BDF, Conspiracies, News, Miscellaneous, etc.)
But here in Singles, there is a group of regulars that talk more about their own every day lives as Christians rather than dissecting the lives of famous people.
Many of the regulars in Singles have been posting in this forum for anywhere from say 2 to 20 years, so many of us know each other quite well. Some of us also travel to hang out in person, even though we live thousands of miles away from each other.
In general, we don't preach at each other about these kinds of topics -- the ones who do come in and preach are usually new, and we try to direct them to the other places of the forum where this style of discussion is more popular.
I always say that the BDF and other places in the forum is the sermon; Singles and Family is like the Coffee and Donut Fellowship Hour afterwards. People can still try to turn it into a platform of sorts -- it just usually isn't given much attention here.
A lot of us have also been through life experiences and ministries that cause us to take pause at judging others. We know about knowing someone by their fruit, but in the end, only God truly knows.
And this is just me, but I don't worry too much about what other people do or believe unless it directly affects me or those I love.
I used to be part of a prison ministry and sat in a prison visiting room across a guy who was only 33 but had a history of committing murders.
Something I learned during that time is that there is always a story behind the story that everyone hears. This guy had been through one of the worst cases of childhood abuse I had ever heard of, and the case he caught that gave him LWOP (life without parole) was for killing one (of his many) abusers.
He had another attempted murder in prison (cut the guy's throat so severely with a homemade shank that he had to be airlifted out) -- of another guy who also attempted to abuse him.
Are these excuses for certain lifestyle choices and crimes? Absolutely not.
But no one knows how they will react in most situations unless they've been there -- and even if they have, the way they handle it might be very different from the way someone else does -- at least, this is what I've personally concluded for myself, so I won't know who makes it to heaven until I get there.
The guy I am talking about claimed to be a born-again Christian.
Is he? And will he go to heaven when his death one day comes?
I don't know. It's not for me to judge.
And that's how I feel about most everyone else as well.
Yes, there are things I might observe about them that I don't follow in any way.
But as far as judging their eternal destination -- that's for God to know -- and not me.
@ScooterJackson -- you're welcome to keep discussing these things as you feel the need to.
It's just that if it's in the Singles or Family sections of the forum, you might not get the type of reception over it that you seem to be expecting.
