Agricola,

You immediately, and readily, whipped out an awful lot of verses to try to support running around naked.

I only pulled out 1 verse relevant, but of course posted the preceeding verses to understand it in context.
By the speed at which you did this, and the fact you are still staunchly defending nudists (not on legal grounds, but on biblical grounds) I'll have to assume this is what you are personally into.
So why don't you just clear this us for me.
Are you a "nudist", "naturist", or whatever you want to call it?
You seem to be staunchly defending, supporting, and trying to defend it from scripture.
Please just clarify your position.

I don't have the time or inclination to launch some kind of vicious attack over this issue, seriously...
but it would be insightful if you would just be clear, and honest, about your own position.

Thanks,
- Max

First no I am not, in that do not I expose my body in public be it on beach or private club, but I don't have a problem with it. Seeing a naked body is really not that big a deal though and I understand that. Many years ago I spent a lot of time on holiday in Germany with a Christian family, the children who about my age, back then early 20s, said "do you want to go swimming?"

"Yes that be great" I said, so we headed out to a lake, walking through woods came to lake side and thousands of people as far as the eye could see on both sides of lake stretching miles, they were all naked.

It was a bit of a shock at first, and they had a giggle about the look on my face, but after about 20 minutes I "forgot" people were naked. Despite what some people posting here think, its totally opposite of the assumptions that are made about these people, There were no orgies, no one having sex, no lewd behaviour, no inappropriate touching, nothing at all, infact it was proberbly the opposite, sure couples held hands and kissed each other, but there was nothing at all "filthy" going on. It was just like a normal day anywhere in the world on any beach or lakeside, but everyone was naked.

I am just pointing out that if a group of naturist do things in a club, its normally being naked, so its really a non-news item that people who like to be in the nude in thier own private camp-site decide to go to a church in the camp, in the nude. We do not have headlines like ... Naturist shop in the nude in the supermarket, which of course turns out to be the campsite shop, Naturists play in the nude, Naturist have picnic in nude do we? So what was the point of the news article exactly?

Yes I am defending what these people do, as they are just normal people doing normal things, but with nothing on. In European culture we are more relaxed with this, even the reserved British, but as I pointed out, American culture is way over the top in its sensitivity to a bit of bare flesh, again reflected by the views of a number of posts on this thread. It is a shame that we have been polluted to such an extent that now at point where people associate anything to do with exposing a bit of flesh as being pornographic, lewid, perverted and disgusting filth. OF course I am not saying that walking around in public half naked is fine, but in right places and right times it is.

There is a time and place for everything, Gia's post is quite correct, I would not expect to see a woman turning up into my church with thier breasts on display, even if its showing a bit of cleavage, it is not right to put temptations on view in a church as it should be a place for people to come without having temptations disrupt thier time at church,

Ah I hear you say, I am contradicting myself, well no , I am not, as I pointed out several times, people who enjoy being naked and happy being around other naked people do things together naked, like go to the church, its in thier own club, own grounds and with like minded people, no one is going to be "tempted by lust" or whatever, it just dosnt cross peoples mind, if you see people naked all time, its no big deal. so whats the problem? They are not turning up at your church naked are they? Just let them get on with it.

AS for staunchly defending it from scripture, well again I only posted 1 verse to show that people were naked in Bible, to some, just being naked in public is a level of perversion and depraved evil, but here we have disciples and followers of Christ all working in the nude, which makes a lot more sense and its a lot more comfortable to work in hot conditions with nothing on.

I think I have said enough now, so hope that clears things up a bit.

Agricola,

I do understand what you are saying. Europeans are different with nudity than Americans. Here in America it is just not acceptable to be nude on the beach. Many Americans have "skinny dipped" but it's done privately, on the sly. It's just how we are.

Guys, seriously, since when does being "culturally acceptable" somewhere determine whether a matter is intrinsically right or wrong?

It's really just silly.

Danschance, I think you're a nice guy... but really, this whole conversation has just gotten silly.

If we're going to base morals purely on cultural relativism, and use a completely relativistic approach to our beliefs, then we really might as well chuck our bibles out, stop going to church, and join whatever religion just lets us do whatever we please. Maybe I'll just pick a country, or culture, SOMEWHERE, that does some crazy thing I like, and take my ethics from there.

I only posted in this thread originally because it was funny.
I never dreamed this could turn into a debate.

It's so absurd I actually feel like I'm just being trolled.
Love you guys, but it's time for me to move on.
: )

maxwel

Sorry this is upsetting. I am not condoning nudist behavior. On the contrary, I have been criticizing it and even mocking it, on this thread. Even so, there is cultural aspect to it.

In many third world countries women are often are topless. Even so, morality is not culturally based and we never embrace sin just because a culture does.

can i just say what happened to modesty....after the first sin adam and eve covered up...and I think that is should continue to be that way...the whole world is sexual and its bad enough that there is nudity everywhere u look..but as I christian i look forward to going to church and having fellowship with ppl who share in my beliefs..and i do not think wearing ur birthday suit out so ur congregation to see is the place for that. If there are young impressionable children there or ppl who are unmarried and not sexually active...its just one thing that is not needed and not appropriate...if u are in ur own home and enjoy being naked do it there..but not outside (u can be arrested for that FYI) and especially not in a church...

The first Adam and Eve realized after they had eaten from the 'apple' was that they were naked. Nakedness is the first sign of the original sin. (Gen 3:7)

It is clear you can not get any facts straight and obviously being a King James Only Cult member, just like any other cult, you attack anything and everything as "evil" which does not agree with your cult.

I know that America has a different culture, where if a woman shows a nipple in public it means the world as we know it comes to an end, so its not surprising to think that people who just like to be naked are somehow depraved and evil.

I see that you have singled me out for the contempt I have for the King James Only Cult, so like a good cult member you now have to attack me and make up lies to demonise me in order to keep your high ground.

Can you please show me where I am on record for saying that I hate anyone who reads the King James Bible. You might want to save yourself some time and not bother looking through my posts, as you will never find anywhere where I say I hate people who read King James Bible, what you will find are posts where I say I hate the Cult of King James Only, that is entirly different.

I often read from King James Bible.
Repent, you are filled with bigotry and hatred for the bible and Gods people, Repent, and ask God to give you a loving heart and discernment. I forgive you thou wicked Jezebel.

yet another personal attack slandering me, you still have not responded to my request to provide evidence to the other accusations you made against me.

i just thought it was funny in the vid that are almighty god that was on the cross in the back round had more cloth on than the peacher.

Why should it be bizarre too follow a command from God?

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon (Exodus 20:26).

"that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon." means too be clothed before the altar. An altar is the center of a worship. An altar may be real, or imaginary. Exodus 20:26 is saying "Neither shalt thou worship clothed before mine altar."
The Holy Bible states that the practice of nudism is not a sin (Job 1:20 -22). It is God who says that the practice of nudism is right (Job 10:11, Job 42:7).

It's a shame . Not biblical . and Christ would not approve. when Christ returns to this earth; those people will have a naked soul as well. That gos for all the sins that are happening now adays.

I'm at a library computer so I don't have sound.... even so I'm not sure I want to watch this.... The still picture on the vid is odd enough... Should I be scared? Oh be careful little eyes what you see? If the right attitude when I'm watching tv and the screen in full of naked people dictates for me to change the channel... would this video fall under the same heading? I'm not judging anyone for watching it I'm just trying to understand whether it's worth hitting play and whether I should feel guilty if I do...

Having just watched the video in question, no. It shouldn't be an issue. It's a news report, they can't show anything.

You won't see any naughty bits but you will see some good ole' fashioned blubber. It is safe to watch but...well... You won't see anything you like either. I would not post this if it were not "G" rated.

A Nude Cult. They can identify themselves as "church" all they want but God knows who His true people are.

When Peter was in the water, he had his tunic, or loincloth on. It is very plain to read that if a bible character had an"outer garmet" on, that meant he had an inner one on as well. Adam & Eve were right to cover up. God also covered them with skins. That should settle the issue once & for all. It's evil. And it's shameful to talk about it.

Ephesians 5:11-12 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; [SUP]12 [/SUP]for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.

I don't think it's sinful, just icky. I wouldn't attend, that's for sure.

I always thought that meant to be careful to not show your secrets to the people below you, so don't use the steps to go up to the altar.

There is nudity in The Bible, Saul prophesied naked, but there was never any co-ed nudity in The Bible (Other than that which was condemned, or obviously between a man and wife.) I suppose one could create a men-only and women-only nudist camp and not clearly violate any scripture, but seriously, why? It seems like too much attention placed where it doesn't belong.

As an interesting aside, there is a nudist camp in my state, and they offer classes in "Introduction to firefighting" there.
