I would describe myself as plain. Not ugly or "drop-dead-gorgeous". I have gotten lots of sun without sunscreen, and I don't wear makeup, so if someone is weirdly observant and has too much time on their hands they'll see my skin tone isn't totally even.

I do have a unique look because I am a blend of races. I don't often see light tan women with long, straight, raven-black hair like mine. And nobody has ever mistaken me for somebody else.

It's a little embarrassing to admit, but I sometimes think many caucasian (blonde or light brown haired) people tend to look alike to me if I don't know them that well, lol. Especially if it's a group of women who wear their makeup and hair in a similar way.

I'd rather be plain and unique, than be stereotype "hot" and look like 80% of my friends. :p

LOL..that's funny,I too seem to be a magnet for sun & can get dark rather quickly. I've worked long & hard to stay out of the sun for the past 6 years, but I think it's actually hurt me by doing so. And it's ok..all white people do look alike. LOL

Hmm how would I describe myself ..
Well I'm 5'8 , blonde, I'm Dutch . I am quiet and reserved.. I'm content , and my abilities are in doing rather than speaking ...
I don't feel the need to speak much , I love people and step up to help where the missing link is needed ..I'm pretty laid back unless there's an emergency.. I am tender hearted and have a love and passion for the things of God.. I'm a deep thinker and have nothing figured out Wich keeps my dependency in God great.. I am slow to anger , slow to speak and I observe where I don't fit in to see what needs to change in me..
I keep my own side if the street swept , if something is wrong I look to God first, then at myself.. not what you need tochange but what I néed to change to meet a need.. I serve the poor in spirit rather than the uplifted spirit .. I go to those who are sitting alone rather than joining the crowd. I'm usually lay to arrive in conversations, but non the less I like to be a part ..I have a big heart, I prefer to find the greater things in people rather then embellish in their falls as I know it is the fall that brings dependency in God, therefore builds their spiritual strength ..i resoect people no matter where or who they are and find nothing greater or less then the person standing beside them .. Both are unique in Gods beauty.. Yadda yadda yadda ya....

I'm not a woman but I suffered from low self-esteem. God's still working on me in that area. I was a very short child and teenager. I wore glasses from an early age and was bullied readily at high school. I'm tall and thin and have a large nose and a lop-sided mouth but people say they love my smile, so maybe I shouldn't be so hard on myself. Don't believe the lies, guys. Believe the One who made you and loves you.

I'm getting the feeling some women bypassed the video (the whole point of this thread) and just answered the question, thereby missing what i meant....

you are correct, I didn't watch the vid. I got the idea of what it was about anyway, and I've seen it discussed on TV. :p It makes women cry saying "OMG this is sooooooooo true, we are so hard on ourselves about our appearances!!!! blahblahblah".

Yes, I know we are hard on ourselves. I guess I could have watched the vid though....but posting seemed more gratifying at the time.

Sorry if that order is obnoxious to you. ;)

So...you want us to describe ourselves, then say how others describe us?

Ooo...I still haven't watched it, and I said I was gonna do it after dinner last night :O Ok, TODAY! Is the day. Yes.

I watched it on FB recently. I wish I could say it had more of an impact, but...at the end of the day I'm still a woman with a woman's brain. Reprogramming takes time.

God dealt with me on this subject a little while back and taught me to see myself, all of me, through His eyes rather than my own or anyone else's. I was always really hard on myself and that turned into me being hard on others and having the wrong expectations for everyone.
Jullianna's right, it does take time to reprogram our brains, but I think we also need to be aware of how easy it is to just say that we're women and it's simply the way our minds work. Let's be transformed by the renewing of our minds daily and actively seek God's view of us and others and see what all He wants to teach us while we're on that journey. :D

I think imperfections are good. They keep us grounded. I like to appreciate them for what they are. :D

Don't be embarrassed. I have a hard time telling Asian people apart if I don't know them that well either. Same for Africans as well. Though I find its been easier now that I have a lot of friends from those ethnicities.

I watched it .. I was just practicing what I should believe about myself .. not very easy to do.. feels like vanity to me really.. I need to get better at it Saying what I wrote " to myself"

It's kind of difficult when you switch over to another thread and the guys are saying they won't even approach a woman because of how beautiful she is , I know this is a confidence thing but when you go around saying it knowing their confidence is shaken .. It's a kittle difficult to put yourself on a pedestal.. These confidence issues to me show how little we edify and how much we tear down one another .. We need to edifying each other more.. because you sure won't find me walking around talking myself up...that's "IF" we can get around the comments of it being a flirtatious advancement ... as some are sensitive to this as well .. does that make sense?

I don't have that issue so much with italian whites, or british whites. But there is a certain type of common american face I am talking about. I see many people with this kind of face, and it's sometimes hard to tell them apart.

Unless I hang out with them, of course. :o

I've see the video before, and despite knowing full well that it's a marketing scheme, it's still far more refreshing and uplifting than most media promotions. I like the overall message.
God has been helping me with my own self-image. I have my insecurities but in the end I know I'm His precious little girl and if the world has a problem with that then... Forget them. :P

my insecurity-driven self description would probably be that since puberty I've always felt just the slightest bit overweight. Now I realize that I'm actually pretty healthy and as long as I maintain a healthy lifestyle, there's nothing to fret about. I compare myself to my Asian mother alot. She's so tiny and delicate boned and cute, but I'm also half Caucasian so I'm taller and more big-boned than she is. It's always bothered me, until I realized that most Caucasians see me the way I see my mother: tiny, delicate-boned, and cute. It's all about perspective I guess. I have always liked my hair, facial complexion, and smile.

As said by others in this thread, it's hard for women who grow up in a sex obsessed, media driven culture to reprogram our minds and view ourselves the way God sees us. That's why it's so important that we stay in the Word, and edify others. :)

Ugly I just want to say thank you, that video as amazing and I needed it, I only saw it just now but it was when I needed it most.

Also did you guys notice that the picture the other people described was not only more attractive but generally looked more like the real person, it is scary how much we distort ourselves.
