People used to ask, "What if this is as good as it gets?," implying there is nothing better to look forward to, and other would say, "Oh, you've seen nothing yet." implying the worst is still to come. Both are fairly pessimistic outlooks even though the former attempts to make the best of it. And then there's the old saying, "No news is good news." which strikes me as saying, The gospel is no news." Well, that is an fairly accurate statement, I suppose, but it leaves something out that I'm having some trouble defining, and I don't know why.
