You're conflating "soul' with "human spirit". It is the human spirit which God breathed into the lifeless body that produces the driving force, the outcome of that is a living being. Grace is God's enabling power for those unable to do something God requires.

2 Corinthians 12:9, God's power is made perfect in human weakness, offering support to do what is otherwise impossible.

Grace grants the free will needed (by suppressing the flesh), so that our souls are made free to make a moral choice.
But also, free to make an immoral choice. Just like Adam made his choice!

You are still the driver.

He makes your steering aligned and makes you able to keep a straight line.
He makes the brakes stop you when you step on the brake pedal.
We still make the choices, but with the Spirit controlling our flesh, our souls can express the true you without maladjusted function.

If the Holy Spirit took over everything?
