I've told you the truth of how Abraham acted. A born again Christian understands how God wants them to live, for the law he desires them to keep has been written on their mind and placed on their heart by the spirit. The humble Christian with honest estimation of themselves does not continually demand all of God's laws be obeyed, for they know and are painfully aware of how short they fall themselves. They cling to the unfailing love of God shown by Christ dying for them.
Those who often stress law keeping are seeking to promote themselves. The inference is. ''I obey all of God's laws, you must strive to be where I am''
God is not impressed by such an approach

Really?

Isa 66:2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

Would you have us believe that this should really say...

In 35 years of going to church amd meeting with Christians, I have found that those who most stress obedience to the literal commands of the law, are those who most fail to have the heart of the law exhibited in their lives

And of course, we must throw this one out altogether...

Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Because they don't murder, steal, commit adultery or lie? Or because they don't have other gods before God, bow down to idols, take God's name in vain?

These the ones who don't exhibit the law of God? The obedient ones?

You have got to be kidding me.

Do you keep (obey) all of the literal commands of Christ in the Gospels? If you do not, are you condemned?

Do you keep all of the literal commands of Christ in the Gospels? If you do not, are you condemned?

Of course I don't keep them perfectly. I sin, just as you do. Am I condemned? No, because I go to my Father and ask to be forgiven.

What is important here is that I realize what it cost for me to be forgiven...

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

So, realizing that each and every time I transgress, I am responsible for the shedding of Christ's blood, I strive to not shed His blood.

When I do slip and sin, I repent. I examine my attitude and my actions and resolve to overcome this sin.

Grace is wonderful and freely given, but it is not a license to sin, nor is it a free pass...

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Sin and grace are not to be taken lightly.

Of course grace is not a licence to sin, no one says it is. However, if the Christian is not under law they cannot be condemned for their failure to obey the law. Then they are under grace, and grace is the power to live a n ever holier life

You do not need to stress obedience to the law for the Christian, for the law God desires them to keep is written on their heart and placed on their mind by the Holy Spirit, so it is a waste of time preaching to the converted

I hear that a lot, yet Paul wrote 13 (14 if you count Hebrews) letters to converted Christians preaching to them.

He also said this...

Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Rom 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Rom 7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Rom 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

And this gets twisted a lot by those who claim he is writing about his life prior to conversion. The truth of the matter is that this was written in the present tense twenty-some years after conversion.

Are you telling me that you don't sin now? You are never tempted to sin? Remember what the Law does? It defines right and wrong. It defines sin.

Grace is the unearned, undeserved forgiveness of sin. Sin is the transgression of the Law. Grace is forgiveness for transgressing God's Law.

The Holy Spirit gives us the power to live a holy life.

If Paul is speaking of his life as a Christian in the verses you quoted he is a slave to sin as a Christian. This means he is condemned according to what he wrote in ch6:16

In ch7:14-25 sin is plainly Paul's master. In rom 6:14 Paul says sin shall not be your master for you are not under law but under grace.

I agree, the law makes us conscious of our sin, it cannot save us. There is a world of difference between where Paul was in ropm 7:14-25 and sinless perfection. Perhaps if you understood the message of grace, you would see slightly better the truth

Of course not, because Christ does forgive sin.

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

To whom did Paul YIELD himself to OBEY?

What he is speaking to here is an attitude. There are those who yield themselves to sin unto death and then there are those who yield themselves OBEY unto righteousness.

Note the prominent use of obey and obedience here? Paul is speaking of a mindset (a heartset if you will).

What is unrighteousness?

Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

and we read above what righteousness is...

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Is righteousness perfect obedience? Or rather is it a heart to obey? Paul says it is yielding yourself to obey. Having every intent to do what God says to do and knowing that God gives us grace when we fall short.

No, we are no longer under the power of the Law, the authority of the Law. All have sinned, therefore all are doomed to die but because of grace, the free, unearned, undeserved forgiveness for breaking the Law (sin is the transgression of the Law) we are no longer under the death penalty.

Now, if one yields himself to obey sin unto death, then he is no longer under grace but under the Law (the penalty of which is death)...

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

In fact just to help out a little.

First point is that we are being warned as the last line you quoted said:

Heb 4:11 Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.

Notice the issue is disobedience due to a lack of faith as it is written:

Heb 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
Heb 3:16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
Heb 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
Heb 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
Heb 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

So the issue is they did not believe or have faith and disobeyed God. So what is the rest they did not enter? well the text told us it was those who died in the dessert which of course are those in Israel who did not enter the promised land.

Heb 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

This is a quote from the Psalms :

Psa 95:8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Psa 95:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
Psa 95:10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
Psa 95:11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

So we see it is about Israel not entering the promised land.

Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4:5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

now notice that now the author directly connects the 7th day Sabbath with them not entering Gods rest. We see this in the words "in this wise"

Does the law teach us anything about Israel not obeying the Sabbath before going into the promised land?

Why yes see Exodus 16 and the manna, what was God's purpose in this test?

Exo 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

Wow so the Sabbath was a test by God to see if obedience to His law would be done. was faith needed in this test?

Indeed read the rest of the story.

Why does the Author connect the 7th day Sabbath with their not entering into the promised land. Well for that one you whill have to study for yourself but I will give a hint:

Heb 9:3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
Heb 9:4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
Heb 9:5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

Why is the manna in the Most Holy where judgment took place once a year?

one more clue:

Deu 8:1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.
Deu 8:2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
Deu 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Anyway what else does the author of Hebrews say?

Heb 4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Some people Get stuck on this passage but its actually really simple reasoning. The author is saying that the rest in the promised land that eventually came after all those died in the wilderness was led by Joshua, Yet David said a long time after Joshua, today if you hear my voice, so then there must be a promised land to us also. because if Joshua had given the true rest then David would not have spoken of another day namely "today" if you hear His voice.

In other words Today is the day you hear this, and David wrote it after the promised land thus there remains a promised land as the author clearly indicates:

Heb 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

SO we are traveling from type to anti-type and then the author reasons, If the true Day still remains then what else remains?

You guessed it the Sabbath remains because the true Promised land is yet to come.

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God.

And then the warning that we not fall after the same example of disobedience.

Purposeful mis-representation.

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

It seems like you are close. Like you truly do understand but then purposefully twist scripture to fit into your works-based religion.

The promised land is yet to come. We get there by faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and not our work at the law.

Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obeywhether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? Rom 6:16

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, SOLD AS A SLAVE TO SIN Rom 7:14

According to your logic, Paul as a Christian is condemned

You and I both know the word for rest here is Sabbatismos and is rendered as such by the Diaglott...

Heb 4:9 Therefore remains a keeping of a sabbath for the people of the God.

Even the margin of my trusty Oxford KJV renders it a "keeping of a Sabbath".

And by the way, how about explaining why this is stated in verse 4?

Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4:5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Why is entering that rest associated with the seventh day?

Funny, obedience is always called a works based religion.

What do you call the opposite? You know, disobedience. What is disobedience called?

So, are you offering yourself to Christ as an obedient slave?

If so, how about this...

Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
