Because he could

not because of how good anyone was. Romans 9 makes this clear

Why did God choose the Israelites to become holy?
Only few were saved. They had faith like Abraham, Abel, Job, and Moses. Most were wicked unbelievers who God forced to keep the Ten Commandments under threat of death. Notice, the generation leaving Egypt forfeited the land promises long before ever arriving in Canaan, except 2 faithful, Caleb and Joshua who actually entered the promised land with the children of the deceased.

God used the wicked to fend for the true believers, just as he uses America to fend for the few believers here.

When Christ arrived, Israel remained believers only with the wicked removed. Now all nations contain true believers called the Church and spiritual Israel.

Yes they were always holy because they were separated from the other races by their belief in the One True God. In Genesis Abraham is one of the few believers in God therefore was Abraham blessed with God's promise. Abraham's immediate kids knew God, but all of them and their descendants forgot God excepting for Isaac whom the blessing passed through to. Isaac then had two sons, Esau and Jacob and they knew God, but Esau did not really value his birthright and he and his descendants the race called Edomites would forget about Lord God. Jacob loved the Lord God of his fathers Isaac and Abraham, and so Jacob was blessed by Lord God and the Lord God would rename Jacob to Israel.

Genesis 15:13-16
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

Because of Abraham. And because of Gods Timing.

God chose Israel among the nations to be the ones who would take His word to the whole world. They were elect or chosen to carry Gods word to the heathen nations of the world.

And we (Israel) did this preaching the gospel to the whole world beginning with Acts 10. The wicked unbelievers God removed from Israel leaving only believers in Christ. They are now part of the gentile world we preach to.

You can never be Israel. The church is the church and Israel is always Israel. God is giving to the gentiles the blessings intended for Israel but one day He will give to Israel all He has promised to them.

I have noticed that your theology is nothing but a hodgepodge of disconnected dubious theories only vaguely connected to scripture.

All who believe God are Israel.

Eph 2:12 that ye were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye that once were far off are made nigh in the blood of Christ.

New Jerusalem should say something to some at least.

Jesus is Abraham's seed along with believers to whom all the promises apply. “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” (Galatians 3:16)

“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:29)

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

They are not all Israel, which are of Israel...That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God (Romans 9:6,8).

Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham (Galatians 3:7).

Why did God choose the Israelites to become holy?

God does not choose corrupted flesh to be holy. To be Holy is to be set aside for a particular demonstration and time period . Mount Sinai was called holy .God set it apart for a one time purpose. But the lifeless, spiritless dirt that made it up had no more power than an ant hill in the valley .

Israelite's are used to represent all of mankind. Using the the holy things as shadows , the temporal seen.In order to give a picture of the glorious not seen .

In that way God used food and animals to represent the unseen things . The clean like a Lamb used to represent Christ. They as a picture of the gospel beforehand were required to be slain and redeem the un-redeemed signified by a Ass in the parable.

Exodus 13:13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.

Christians are consider His first children of light.

They were all used as shadows of the glorious beyond human description new heavens and earth .

Holy shadows that pointed ahead, as the same shadow that point back to the one time demonstration. Receiving redemption from the hearing of our salvation . The end from the beginning.

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 1 Peter 1:9-11

It would seem that when words have no meaning as a law of interpretation . Like the word marriage that was erased with the last president confusion sets in.

God renamed Jacob (the deceiver one who grasp the heel of the first born" And was given a new born again name to represent the bride of Christ in respect to having the power of God working in him so he could overcome .Previously having no power as in flesh and blood wrestling against flesh and blood.

Natural unconverted mankind destroying each other with no help of God. . God renamed His bride Israel in the book of Acts. A befitting name for his new brie made up of all the nations of the word Christian a name that means residents of the city of Christ prepared as his bride.

The parable as the foundation of the word "Israel".

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. Genesis 32 "24-28

There is no genealogy in the power of God.

Like David said in the Psalms . If the father of lies destroy the foundation of a belief, or law of faith. What can the believer do ?.

Many say Christian was a derogatory name that the father of lies named . He loves to turn things upside down and take away meaning of the word of God making it without effect..
