What am I thinking about right now?
Are these tortilla chips really that good that I don't need a dip with them... or am I just really that hungry?
And why the heck am I even eating these when I know once I turn the package over and read the ingredients list I'm going to go

giphy.gif
I have a huge package of tortilla chips that I bought awhile back and haven't opened yet. I wanted to make nachos with them but forgot I had them. Can't make nachos now though. Need to watch my calories.

Yes -- I've shifted to posting a lot more in Family now.

The threads I wrote in Singles were getting a lot of traffic from marrieds.

They mentioned that they liked participating in the threads but felt uncomfortable hanging out in the Singles Forum. They said the would just see the title of a fun topic and go to answer, only to find it was in Singles, and then they felt they couldn't answer again.

It was actually a married regular who was answering a lot of Singles threads that suggested I post in Family, saying that many of the topics brought up applied to all members of a family in general, not just singles. Some of the marrieds have also told me it's fun to to answer some of the "nonsense" threads as a break in their busy days.

And the marrieds who have answered in Singles have been so interesting and engaging, I didn't want to leave them behind. I wanted to make it so that they wouldn't feel uneasy about which section of the forum they were answering.

I also chose Family because Miscellaneous seems to often have a lot of political topics, and I didn't want to disturb the vibe there.

Most of my future threads will now probably be in Family :) -- unless, of course, the mods prefer I stay in Singles.

And every now and then, I do drop something in Miscellaneous as well.
Oh well then keep posting in Family. (y):)

Yea family is better, singles seems to attract the....lonely onlies.
Family can mean everyone, as most of us are part of families...unless all our family members are dead.

I'm sick of shopping. I need a shopping vacation. I know I know.. first world problems.
Another issue I have is low energy and tire easily. I can't do more than one store a day and I often need stuff from two different stores.
Do you ever use InstaCart? I use it for bulk buying and the big and/or heavy stuff that is difficult for me to schlepp around. Like buying lots of cat food at once, since I know she is never going to stop eating, LOL, and canned milk for coffee, even augmenting my phone orders with mayo and vinegar, anything I use long term... the store deals for Walmart or No Frills (I know you may have different stores) are great, for instance I was poking around my grocery store yesterday and all pasta was around $5.00 for 500 grams, online? Under 3.

Oh you might not be able to make threads yet since you're new. Maybe @seoulsearch will make it.

Thanks for thinking of me, but in most cases, I try to encourage people to write their own threads.

In the past I have became a bit of a pitch hitting thread writer... Several years ago I even asked if there were ideas people had that they would want to see threads about, and I would write them.

Most people have wonderful ideas.

But in a few cases, I was finding that people wanted to see the topics discussed, but didn't want to take the pushback that usually comes when one writes threads. They wanted someone else to use as a shield from criticism, as well as doing all the work of writing and keeping up with the thread.

I will of course take any flack I get for any of the threads I write.

But these days, I honestly feel that if people would like to see a subject talked about, they should also be the one to step out and take the risk of writing the thread. 🙂

I remember when pasta was a dollar for a kilogram, now it is a dollar for one tenth that.

And that was not very long ago. Life as we knew it, pre-COVID.

It really is sad to see how traffic on this site has slowed down over the years. I know it's mostly because there are many other places now to spend one's time, but we get so many new people here who are eager to make friends and connections... I feel genuinely sorry that we don't have as much fellowship as we used to. I'm really hoping the live chat section will pick up and take off.

This coming May will be my 17th year on CC, and I've been writing threads right out of the gate. I think my very first thread was asking some questions of a group of people who were on the site saying that they were Goth Christians. But this was back when CC was extremely active.

Sometimes I get burned out of writing threads, or feel God is leading me in other directions.

But the hard truth is that if there aren't enough people who will step up to write threads and keep people engaged, these forums are going to die -- it's only a matter of time.

Except, of course, for the Bible Discussion Forum.

I'm pretty sure the BDF is immortal. :)

Thanks, but shopping is the only time I can get out of the house so it's actually the highlight of my day. I just wish I wasn't so tired all the time.

House arrest? Just kidding LOL. Perhaps you need a supplement for enhanced energy?
Is it a medical issue? I knew I would feel like I was prying if I started asking any questions.
But I always remember how you suggesting magnesium for the prevention of leg cramps helped me.

Also, another question~ are you still making music and singing? Wondering if something like that would help...

I'm the sole caregiver for family member. The cramps were from my auto detailing days. I was magnesium deficient. I actually went to urgent care because the cramps were really bad one day and they sent me to the hospital where I was given an IV of magnesium and saline. It fixed me right up and I started taking magnesium after that.

I am thinking I need to start a multi vitamin and make sure it has magnesium, or at least start taking magnesium by itself. I periodically get bad toe cramps, like a charlie horse but worse in my toes! Then if I'm real lucky  it shoots up into my legs, and the more I try to move and shake it off the worse it seems to get.

Epsom salt baths = magnesium

Works, though some people at first did NOT believe me when I wrote that magnesium can be absorbed through your skin. Well proof is in the pudding.
