Hi Atwatukee,

I'm aware of the popular understanding and I don't disagree that the subject is a human being, nor am I disagreeing that this speaks to individual human beings but I am considering the possibility that this is addressing all mankind that, individually, fits the category in the same sense that the commandment, "You shall love the Lord thy God...," speaks to all but is offered in the singular (rather than speaking in the plural "Ye') to indicate a direct responsibility to each person individually. This is in following my reasoning that all that receive the mark of the beast essentially identifies himself with him that either professes (false prophet) or promotes (antichrist) the beast (in the same way as we identify ourselves with the body of Christ as one) will also be 'taken out of the way' at the time of the LORD's coming.
Well, you really can't apply that line of thinking here. This is why I presented Rev.19:20, because it identifies the beast and the false prophet as two individuals and not as a collective name representing many. The scripture says "the two of them were captured and thrown alive into the lake of fire. Though there are many types of antichrists, there will be one individual as thee antichrist, also known as the little horn, the beast, man of lawlessness, etc.

Sorry, I referenced the beast when I was thinking of the dragon, Satan, who is bound but isn't completely incapacitated until after the thousand year reign. The term beast is applied at one point one or another, first beast, second beast, big beast, little beast, soo many beasts to contend with.,. Anyway, at the Lord's return these, the little horn, beast, man of lawlessness is thrown into to the lake of fire before the mil reign begins, along with the false prophet, so these are not coming back, ever, from thence forth, however many of them there actually is.

The realm or throne of the beast, Babylon, also is destroyed, according to my understanding of rev 16-18, with those that received his mark, and these will not rise again until the resurrection to judgment, shortly after , idk perhaps before or simultaneously with, the dragon' release for that short time to his, along with all those following him, subsequent appointed judgment to the lake of fire. IOW, the mil reign is the honeymoon where a proverbial 'do not disturb' sign is hung on the door of the proverbial bridal suite. This follows along the Hebrew tradition of the groom devoting a year ( a year is a thousand years to the LORD) to making his bride happy and during which time refrains from any participation in war.

Yes I agree, however I am asking specifically "WHAT" you think the delusion is? This includes even people who are believers, because Jesus said that "Many who say unto me Lord, Lord...he shall say depart from me, ye who work iniquity. Many are called, but few chosen. So what do you think the delusion is? Not why.
The antichrist.
He comes on a white horse. He conquors, wears a crown, and recieves worship.

Many in society to day are leaning that way.

Hello Sakla,

First of all, you are misapplying scriptures. Those who say Lord, Lord has nothing to do with the delusion spoken of in 2 Thess.2:9. Here is the scripture:

=================================================================================
The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.
================================================================================

Why are you still looking for the answer to this question, when it has already been provided?

The delusion that God will send to them, will be to believe in those false miracles, signs and wonders that the man of lawlessness will perform by the working of Satan. And the reason that God sends the powerful delusion to them, is because they will have delighted in wickedness and refused to love the truth of the gospel and be saved. The Lie and the reason for God sending the delusion is found right in the scripture above.

The Lie = counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders meant to give credibility to the man of lawlessness claim of being God.

God's strong delusion = To believe the lie above

Can anyone speculate what the delusion that God sends and the lie that is believed is, quoted in this verse: "and for this cause, God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie...that they all might be damned who believed not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
We're LIVING IN IT right now.

2 Thessalonians 4
Who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.

The greatest deception that has ever existed, the God of this world wants all the glory, all the worship.

What is the truth?

Romans 1:25
For they exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Since you said "speculate", I will do exactly that...

The "strong delusion" is the idea that they non-Christian Israelites of the first century AD believed that the walls of Jerusalem would keep them safe from the Romans. The Christians, having believed Jesus' warning to flee the city, did so when they saw the 'abomination that causes desolation', leaving only the Jews. Because of infighting, the Jews were left with almost no food within the city, while the population had swelled to near a million people. When the Romans finally broke through the walls, the found horror after horror within.

We do not need to speculate. God gives us the answer...

Isaiah 66:4
"I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not."

There you go.

The Strong Delusion is basically God putting a person's worst fears into them. In other words, whatever someone fears the most, that is what they will experience. Moreover, everyone will experience something different according to God's judgment.

You know what that sounds like? Hell.

Kind of like this...

2 Thessalonians 2:12
"That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

Get it?

The Greek says "that they should believe "the lie".

The lie is the same lie satan used in the garden. [If you sin] you shall not surely die, but shall be like God."

The same lie Paul warned against in Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh... 6. for to set the mind on the flesh is death... 13. for if you live according to the flesh, you will die.

The same lie Hebrews warns against: "11 Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, do that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience..

The same lie John warns against 1 John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous even as He is righteous.

And we could add: Eph. 5:6; Rom. 7:11; 1 Cor. 6:9; Gal. 6:7; Tit. 3:3

The delusion that causes people to believe this lie may take different forms. Hyper-grace teaching, "Teaching that You are God in human form" ...

In Psalms 119:142, God's law is truth, so that is the truth that they did not believe, especially considering that 2 Thessalonians 2:3 describes the antichrist as the man of lawlessness, which is also connected to Christ saying in Matthew 7:23 that he would tell those who are workers of lawlessness to depart from him because he never knew them.

As I look around, I see and hear many believing many lies, beginning with negationists and spreading out from there.

That the Anti Christ that will come is the promised Messiah / returned Jesus.. I believe the great deception will be the Anti-christ fooling many people into believing he is Jesus returned..

The beast and the false prophet hate the whore, they destroy the whore. I doubt whether the first beast or the second beast respect the whore.

There are two possibilities.
1) The true promised messiah for Israel, a conquering king that controls the world
2) The greatest man that ever existed with incredible power

Unlikely to be a copy of Jesus, for Jesus returns as God Himself. Jesus is no longer a man.

The antichrist is a man who claims to be God.

Perhaps because of the signs of the time, if we just hold our breath a short while we will atually see these prophetic people. No more guesswork necessary.
