Oh i'm sorry to hear that. I've been unemployed for some time too. There are some companies offering cheap broadband for low-income families now like Comcast. Only about $10 a month if you qualify. That's probably comparable to what you're paying for dial-up.

there is hs that cost about the same but we are in the country so its not available. The only stuff available is about 30-40 a month plus a fairly substantial activation fee. The government was talking about cheap hs to every home in rural areas a few years back, but as usual they tripped over themselves and lost interest after they won an election. I really think we'd be better off without a government some days. I think it might be cheaper for everyone in the end.

Oh yeah I know its expensive to get broadband service in rural areas. Another member on here had that problem for years. We can definitely use less government. First thing they should get rid of is the dept. of homeland security, followed by the EPA.

I visited the chat a few times when I first signed up. I don't do voice chat and don't have a web-cam; I'm all text.

I found that generally, the regulars paid attention to each other, which is understandable. The conversation was mostly about the day-to-day affairs of the members present; again, understandable. The two tendencies combined to make me a lurker, though, and I don't log in to a chat to lurk, so I stopped going to it.

In general, I enjoy chatrooms, although I rarely visit them. I'd probably visit this chat more if there was a room for current events or some other topic that could serve as an icebeaker for the new member.

I should probably give it another try. Now that I've posted here a little, maybe I'll run into a member or two whose s/n I recognize.

Wesley, maybe you're more of a PM chatter... I know I am. The main chat doesn't do a whole lot for me, generally speaking.

I think they're pretty awesome, but I only frequent them on occassion. I chat in the lounge sometimes, but I'm mostly in the yousing room. I love to play, sing, laugh, chat, pray, and chill with people...and hear them do the same. The yousing room is usually this when I'm there, but I know it can be empty a lot. *shrugs*

I figure I'll just make the most of it. I'm usually only on to encourage others, have some interaction, and worship/just play and sing.

I spent a while in a non Christian chat room and found that I was often ignored or treated poorly and kind of gave up. I did however really enjoy talking one on one with people after meeting them because I was making new friends (which I dont have many of) and it was comforting to know that they were in similar situations as me. I enjoy sitting back and watching and being anonymous (not why my nickname is that) but it feels good when people are actually interested in what I have to say.

I do however agree that people spend way too much time in chat rooms sometimes and so I limit myself as much as I can...although it can be addicting

It's really interesting and its good to know people who are in Christ especially those people who were really touched by the Holy Spirit. But like every chat room that offered by different sites, whether it is labeled "Christian" does not necessarily mean it cannot be a danger zone because anyone can say or do anything without being held accountable, that's why we must always guard each and everyone of us inside the chat room to keep/maintain the reputation, cleanliness, safeness, and security of it. One thing that i really like about this chat room is that we can use this to preach the Good News and encourage each other in Christ. So, for anyone who haven't been there, i encourage you to visit there too and interact with our fellow Christians its fun! ;)

I like it and use it when I can. since I have my kid all the time this us a great way to have adult conversation without taking from her
