This theory may sound strange but there are people who believe it. First, let me point out that the sun did stand still for Joshua for many hours, and the sun did retrograde 10 steps for Isaiah and Hezekiah. One possible conclusion (and the simplest scientifically) is that the continents have moved significantly in written historical time. I am told that EVERY sundial and astronomical observation made before about 720BC is off several degrees, and no one knows why.
Let's suppose it's true, and the last movement was ca. 720BC (Hezekiah). Could America have a different name in some of the prophetic books because it was in a different place on the globe? I know of only one tradition, although I doubt the sources. It says America covered the north pole region as Antarctica now covers the south (in fact, the North Pole was in Kansas). Suppose it's true? My dictionaries say "Gog" means "roof", and give no definition for Magog. If Magog is derived from Gog, it could be using M+ as a Hiphil (causative prefix), and thus mean "that which causes to become a roof". Most researchers feel Gog is Russia (like Meshech = Moscow since the consonants are the same). The identification is that when Magog moved, it caused Gog to become the roof of the world. Could America be Magog?
Oxinwolfskin: The Jews teach that God created 10 things on the 6 days of creation. Can the horns be linked to these? If you're not familiar with the list (from Ginzberg): light, firmament, gathering of waters, grass & herbs, lights, abundance, inheritance (after it's kind), food, ability to have image of God, spouse. Each is Scriptural, but Scripture never says there are 10; the count is a rabbinical teaching.
