And, by the same token, we could ask you which spirit told you the KJV was THE version to use? How do you know that it was the Spirit telling you that.... and, since the Spirit doesn't speak of himself, how and why is he involved in giving approval of a translation of the word?

Yes the spirit of truth led me to the truth behind the supposed errors in the KJV by showing me scripture that disprove the supposed errors. Like the supposed contradictions in the gospel resurrection accounts. There are no errors in that account, it was like every other truth in the bible and exactly what a bible believer would expect... The resurrection was witnessed by "two or three" witnesses.

He only repeats if we quote from the correct Bible? Is that what you're saying? God the creator is not capable of more? I don't understand how you believe that

The Holy Spirit is not going to guide you in things outside of God's word. No new revelation on how to live for the Lord is needed apart from the Bible.

According to the bible there are lying spirits out there to deceive us, in fact God says that he sends the lying spirits to deceive those who don't like what God has to say.

How do we know if the spirit speaking to us is the Holy Spirit or a lying spirit. Case in point, did the Holy Spirit tell you the KJV is not the inerrant word of God or did that come from a lying spirit? And how do you know which spirit it came from?

That's why we compare spiritual things to spiritual. If what we think is of the Holy Spirit does not match up with the word of God, then what we thought was the Holy Spirit was not the Holy Spirit at all.

Agreed, thats how we are protected from false doctrine.

The Holy Spirit taught me. I read the words in the book and I believe them.

so I'm sitting here reading your responses to different people and I can see how you are attempting to lead people on to answer your questions the way you want them answered

what God is NOT capable of, is limiting Himself to how YOU think He should do things

the Bible itself was written by many different men and calls itself inspired and declares that God revealed himself to prophets and others in various ways, at different times and basically any ole way He wanted

and you sit there, all impressed about yourself and with a straight face declare that the Holy Spirit taught you

thing is, the Holy Spirit indwells all believers...not just you...and most people are not members of the KJV only cult

the KJ is not inspired...it is not given directly by God....many words used in that version are archaic...it so happens I am very familiar with it because I was raised on it...when verses come to mind, they often come in the KJ version...because that is how I memorized them

you cannot possibly, irregardless of the size of your opinion of yourself, actually think you are taught by the Holy Spirit, and have achieved some sort of superior understanding?

I highly highly doubt you have the understanding of scholars who can translate directly from the original languages and they do not agree with you

you are in a very small little club...more like 4 walls with no windows

I have a KJV.. But it's hard for me to understand. I also have another bible, translated so it's easier to read and understand. :)

you have just contradicted yourself in a very major way

first you state compare spiritual things to spiritual and then you say you use your mind to do that...you go by what you think...so, if what you think is not right, then the very real possibility that you are quite wrong is right

the Bible tells us to NOT LEAN ON OUR OWN UNDERSTANDING...yet, you say that is exactly what you do!

I've seen you 2 take over other threads with your KJ only nonsense

your statement above is just plain silly...you think about whether or not something 'sounds' right to you and if it does, then it is the Holy Spirit, but if it does not, then it is what? the devil?

do you understand how cultish you both sound?

I'm pretty sure God's plain and easy message of love is not altered or corrupted by a few scripture discrepancies...
we are after all , learning to love for God's sake not to be debaters and theologians whose exegesis causes other theologians to bury their heads in bibles and translations and Greek and origins and absurd stuff that is not HUGS, SMILES, CHARITY !!! Compassion and dancing and celebration !

Lets be be of one spirit, one accord and advance together preaching the simple gospel of Christs death, resurrection and the redemption for mankind! No grumpy theologians need apply to the joyful execution of evangelism which is love in action , and the scripture which is living waters flowing from us who are the mouthpiece of the Holy Spirit will surely be potent to the point of Stephan's recital of the Old Testament history when he was filled with the Holy Spirit when the time comes..... Holy Spirit will provide the words for us to speak, regardless of the translation we have used to understand the language of love which is of course ineffable :)

so my vote for which version is the Hug version of the bible :-)

I apologize if that's what you got out of my statement. That is the opposite of what I said. If I feel that the Holy Spirit is guiding me in a certain thought or direction, I need to match those thoughts with with word of God. If it matches, then I know it was the Holy Spirit.

I pipe in when the word of God is attacked. I don't seek to hijack threads. Do you have a Bible you will defend to the very end? Do you have absolute truth you can hold in your hands and read and study?

well that is something entirely different

the Bible says we are to renew our minds by the word...we line up our thoughts with the word

in other words, we bring our minds into agreement with what God says...but He says far more than what is written

for example, the Psalms tell us that the heavens declare the glory of God

they speak to me...because I listen and I believe...when I look at God's handiwork in the night sky, my heart swells and I fell so alive and I wonder at all that He has made...I feel so a part of it because His Spirit is inside of me

do you not understand that God is never silent? He has never stopped speaking and His word is as alive and fresh today as the day it was penned...written on papyrus

you cannot match yourself to the word of God...His word is ALIVE...it is not something someone wrote down once and now we sit and read it and try to live up to it

seriously, y'all got the wrong thing going on

Invariably this is one of those topics that gets heated invariably due to those persons who will claim that the 1611 KJV (or even other editions of the KJV) it the ONLY inerrant, inspired word of God.

For the record:

The Administration of Christian Chat hold that the there are many good modern translations in the English language and that since the scriptures were predominantly written in Koine Greek (NT), Hebrew, and Aramaic (OT) even the KJV is a translation of the original texts.

We do not prohibit KJV onlyists from participating on Christian Chat however for those who cannot civilly discuss this topic in an adult fashion we would recommend that you join a site that shares your views.

Could you give an example of teaching that the Holy Spirit has taught you that is not in the word of truth?

I have the NIV life application study, and i have a King James Rainbow study bible. I also like using bible gateway where i can look at several different versions at one time.

Actually, the only ones who get heated are the ones who don't believe the Bible is absolute truth. KJV1611 and I are Bible believers. We believe every word of the Bible is true.

nope

The Son of God rose once from the dead...and He lives, seated at the right hand of the Father and lives to make intercession as the High Priest of our faith...HEBREWS...and because of Him we may boldly approach the throne of grace and call His Father, OUR Father

God's word is ALIVE...and His Spirit does not contradict that word

Nonsense! you make yourself the authority! His name is Jesus! you cannot change His name! you cannot prove His name was yeshua! That's not His name! Plus! What's wrong with the name Jesus? why do you find the need to change His name?

I didn't see who you were responding to, but "Jesus" is the Greek version of His actual historical Jewish name, "Yeshua". This is what His friends and family called Him and the name Gabriel advised Mary to name Him. However, I wouldn't say He is particular about it. He saved me and I called Him "Jesus" when I asked. I still call Him "Jesus" because most people know Him by His Greek translation name, and not His actual name.

you do understand that you are, by inference, declaring the rest of us, unbelievers?

do you understand the import of that declaration?

it seems to me, that you are actually saying that those who do not agree with YOUR absolute truth, are the unbelievers

who here has said they do not believe the Bible is true?

I have not read where anyone has stated that

Could you give an example of teaching that the Holy Spirit has taught you that is not in the word of truth?

where did I say the Holy Spirit taught me things outside of scripture?

I never said that

read again what I actually did say...regarding how God says His creation speaks to us of His existence.

please do not try and twist what I say or say I said things I did not say

that is another thing I have seen you and the other KJ only people do
