This is really more of a rant than a topic.

Why are our hearts so easily deceived?

Why did God have to give us hearts that keep making us fall for the wrong person?

Jeremiah 17:9 ESV
"The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?"

Proverbs 28:26 KJV
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

And why does it have to hurt so stinkin' bad?!

I want some answers, people!!!

That is all.

Here is your answer from the word of God:

IF you think your heart is still defiled, and wicked, and you call yourself a saved Christian, then you will be walking in the light and dark at the same time, which is a dangerious place to be in!

You are either walking in the truth, have crucified your flesh with Christ, Gal 2-20, and put to death your old man in repentance, or you are still defiled, and if you are still defiled then you are NOT saved!

Original sin is a lie from the pit, YOU are responsible to God for your conduct and behavior, and without heart purity drerived from repentance and faith proven by deeds, you will remain in this horrible carnal state, and your life will be a mess because of it!

Men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness!

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness

How many today who profess Christ, suppress the truth in unrighteousness? I believe this number is staggering! Every day I hear from those who profess to be of Christ, to be also of the flesh, they have no qualms about living in fornication, lust, idolatry, porn, adultery, along with polluting their hearts and minds with the vile filth Hollywood and the music industry proudly crams down the throats of the gullible masses, and professing Christians who have truly suppressed the truth in doing what is wrong.
They claim the mercy of God or His grace covers them as they suppress the truth on one hand, then fight for a form of it on another, while living a wanton life void of any real godliness, let alone walking the crucified life where Jesus ransomed them from the bondage's of sin and corruption, instead of taking their place and wrath.
But I believe the most startling thing I have ever encountered as I delve deeper into the reformed lies, is that most who profess to be of God, and a minister of His truth, will preach for sin, defend sin and unrighteousness, and totally ignore the many, many verses that warn the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God!
But when they read verses like Romans 1-18, they claim these verses do not apply to them, that they got their wrath insurance when they confessed they were born a sinner, and received Jesus into their heart, before they actually repented, stopped their rebellion against God, cleared themselves of all wrong doing, as the word clearly commands.
This is suppressing the truth, by preaching for unrighteousness, instead of righteousness and godliness in this present age .To them the truth saves them IN their sins, they are declared righteous while they are still in great bondage to many addictions and vile behaviors, and tell others its ok and acceptable to God every time they fall into willful rebellion against Him, as they fight tooth and nail for the faith alone, grace alone false teaching that claims no vile sin will disqualify you from the kingdom, just unbelief!
Imaging the great apostle Paul or Peter, walking into any main stream church this Sunday morning as the masses gather together for worship, fun, food and fellowship, anticipating the same lukewarm, dead message, ensuring them all is well, Jesus loves you and has great plans for your life, while they are still in bondage to many sins, along with their charismatic pastor calling himself and his congregation the chief of sinners and the Romans wretch.
I believe these great apostles would have much to say to the angry masses as they tell them a message of repentance, heart purity, separation, coming out of the world, departing from iniquity, abstaining from all appearances of evil, laying aside all wickedness and filthiness, and following Jesus on the narrow road.
Would these church people be cut to the heart like the many in the book of Acts were? Would they fall on their face in utter remorse and brokenness for their many sins? Would they then seek the mercy of God as the whole city of Nineveh did, hoping their repentance would be accepted by God, because it was real and from the heart, producing a purity, and proving to God their repentance and faith wasn't in vain, or just the sorrow of the world!
Speaking for myself, I spent many year’s under the sin gospel, wallowing in my sins and worldliness, waiting for one brave soul to come along and hit me up side my head with the truth! But it was all the same ole watered down, safe and conforming message, insuring me I was on my way to heaven, even though I was still defiled in my heart, double minded, serving many false Gods, and indulging my flesh on a daily bases!
May you not suppress the truth in unrighteousness, may you be the lights God has given you the grace and power to be, as you come out from among, her, forsake all your evil ways, and seek His mercy before His wrath falls upon you and repentance is lost and unable to be found! He is waiting patiently for you to do just that, His mercy isn’t Him winking at ongoing sin and rebellion, but showing His great patients and kindness, not wanting anyone to perish but for all to come to repentance!
I also think the apostles today would not be accepted in the churches and many ministries, unless they would adhere to their reformed doctrines promising them liberty while they are still in bondage to sin.
This is how far the truth has been distorted, where the light and dark can mix, as this is the truth to them, while in reality they are suppressing the truth in unrighteousness, and unaware the wrath of God is upon them unless they repent as the Prodigal, seek the mercy of God, and pray He grants them pardon

Mat 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Our hearts may not be what's decieved! I've been deceived seriously recently and I thought my heart was deceived. No, it wasn't my heart. it was my mind. And understanding the difference can be quite helpful!

My heart loves openly and without withholding because it is a heart washed in the blood of Jesus and given over eagerly to the working of the Holy Spirit. It is a tender, sensitive heart, simply because that's what God changed it to be. My heart cannot be deceived because the Holy spirit resides there. So, what is left to be deceived is the mind. Our heart feels deeply and loves without reservation. So we give it away and place it in the hands of someone who may or may not treat it with the greatest of care and respect. As we're feeling all this glorious sweetness and love in our heart, we allow our mind to start creating loooooong term ideals about how it "will always be".

We then begin to focus more on our mind and not so much on the heart. Why, Because it makes us feel great! Then some negative incident brings us back to the reality of the heart.. and we're crushed.. devastated. MASSIVE HURT!

When we feel that massive hurt, we have once again turned to the focus of the mind, where the thoughts about being deceived and all the garbage begins to pour out.

My point? When in love, we must keep a balance of heart and mind. How many timnes did you see or experience something you know was not right, but your heart overlooked it. Your mind wouldn't have overlooked it. We give love with our heart, get deceived, and then suffer in our mind.

The only way to heal the mind is to heal those memories bby letting your mind be given over totally to the Holy Spirit. Believe it or not this simple, yet difficult act will heal you and the hurt will be turned into forgiveness and joy.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I don't know. I always thought God wanted to love everyone whether they love us back or not. I always thought love was to want the best for another person no matter what and to try and work towards others happiness not just temporal in this world happiness but the happiness that comes from helping them have a closer relationship with God. by doing things because it brings them joy and not expecting anything in return because not only your love of them but your love of God. because God tells us to do things not unto the world but as if we are doing them as a service to Him.

therefore we love with our whole hearts and when God gives us a person who loves us and wants to create a family with us or spend the rest of their earthly lives with us, then we thank God for it.

most of the time it happens when people stop looking for their "soulmate" and simply start living for God and what He wants to do in their life. at least that is the case for me and many of my friends.

God brings the love of their life into their lives after they have reached a point where they are happy being with themselves and God and realizing it is better to be with God then anything else.

Relationships are built upon trust and you have to ask who do you trust? yourself or God? do you trust God with your WHOLE life?

relationships aren't just about the rewards but also the responsibility. you hold the happiness of another person in your hands and you give part of your heart in the trust of another person.

can you give care of your heart and body to another and do you love others enough to be entrusted with the heart and body of another person? I always thought marriage and sex should be deeper than just a few words or an action. it should tie people not only in body but mind and spirit as well.

Its about trust how much do you trust others, yourself or God?

ok i'm done with my rant....wanders out of the singles forum...

WE TALKING ABOUT LOVE. AH My favorite topic. Why are our heart so easily deceived? IT BASICALLY WE DO NOT TRAIN IT IN THE ART OF LOVE. Rather we want someone to train, teach and love us. We have to love ourself first before we can love anyone. TRAIN IN THE ART OF LOVE AND YOUR MIND AND SOUL WILL BE FILL WITH LOVE. To a point that you find no need of a lover. Hehehehe that just me people.

As Asif said in another thread, there are times when we feel someone tugging at our heartstrings, but some part of us knows we don't belong with that person for whatever reason. Love is huge. Love is vital. Love is powerful. But, as others have said, it's dangerous to permit emotions to override reason.

I don't know that assigning fault to a thing is productive, but I can't imagine we have anyone to blame but ourselves when we forge ahead without getting God's input re: a relationship.

I think it has something to do with this little issue called 'sin'. Which promotes selfishness. Which prevents wisdom and foresight. Which in turn leads to bad choices. BAM!

We live in a culture that depends on sight and feelings... It's hard to break away from that.

Remember, even Samuel... SAMUEL!!! who heard from the Lord at age 7!!! thought to himself, "Surely the Lord's anointed stands in front of me!" regarding David's older brother.

David was considered so unimportant that no one even though to call him in for the kingship lineup call... EVERYONE THERE completely missed the boat.

Even the best of the best are prone to what we want, see, and feel.

I'll take the blame!

Not as a criticism but just food for thought--I had a pastor once who told us, "If we think we're not deceived... we're already there but just don't know it."

I've found for myself, it's better to rely on the people who know me to tell me like it is than to rely on my own assessment of myself most of the time. I always walk away a little surprised.

When it comes to relationships, the views/opinions of those we already know truly love us (close family, long time christian friends), are very useful. All too often when we do get in those situations its so easy to discount their opinions "they don't know him/her as well as I do" or "well he/she is change, so it's ok." But if you truly listen to those who love you, I think you will quickly find that God's words are on their lips.
