Our hearts may not be what's decieved! I've been deceived seriously recently and I thought my heart was deceived. No, it wasn't my heart. it was my mind. And understanding the difference can be quite helpful!
My heart loves openly and without withholding because it is a heart washed in the blood of Jesus and given over eagerly to the working of the Holy Spirit. It is a tender, sensitive heart, simply because that's what God changed it to be. My heart cannot be deceived because the Holy spirit resides there. So, what is left to be deceived is the mind. Our heart feels deeply and loves without reservation. So we give it away and place it in the hands of someone who may or may not treat it with the greatest of care and respect. As we're feeling all this glorious sweetness and love in our heart, we allow our mind to start creating loooooong term ideals about how it "will always be".
We then begin to focus more on our mind and not so much on the heart. Why, Because it makes us feel great! Then some negative incident brings us back to the reality of the heart.. and we're crushed.. devastated. MASSIVE HURT!
When we feel that massive hurt, we have once again turned to the focus of the mind, where the thoughts about being deceived and all the garbage begins to pour out.
My point? When in love, we must keep a balance of heart and mind. How many timnes did you see or experience something you know was not right, but your heart overlooked it. Your mind wouldn't have overlooked it. We give love with our heart, get deceived, and then suffer in our mind.
The only way to heal the mind is to heal those memories bby letting your mind be given over totally to the Holy Spirit. Believe it or not this simple, yet difficult act will heal you and the hurt will be turned into forgiveness and joy.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
