A friend of mine reminded me of something. Love is a choice. Yes, attraction is a factor, but even then you're choosing your attraction. You choose to love, like, treat well, or treat horribly someone (including yourself).

I agree with all of that except the attraction part...I don't think you necessarily choose who you're attracted to, but it's your choice how you deal with it or how much you dwell on it.

I'm 37 and rarely get asked this. Best way i've found to avoid being asked is to simply stay home, have no friends. That way, no one knows me well enough to ask me stupid questions. :D

But you're on the internet, and the internet is just full of stupid questions. :D

BarlyGirl, I'm confused. This was a number of years ago, back in my university days. After they'd said their bit, I didn't bother them about it. Why tell me to relax, I'm not stressed, just very confused. I never mentioned anything about suddenly being obligated to anyone.

I'm not usually asked why I'm not married, I usually get asked why I'm not dating. That's what all the cool, young people are doing now, I suppose. My honest answer (that I've never been pursued/asked) is usually met with pity or disbelief. I usually respond to that with, "I'm fine with that now, really." To which the response is usually, "That's what they all say!" That's when I start to get annoyed.

As a side note, why can't a guy have nice cars and a woman? I like nice cars! With the one I have now, it's nice, but in a pretty nice, not a "Whoa. Nice." nice. I have to make my own "vrrrrrrooooommmm VRRROommmmm" sound effects when the need arises. Which a "Whoa. Nice." car does on its own.

I think we should change that, Because of this. ;)

And the reason a guy can't have a nice car and a woman is the simple fact that Arwen posted:

Where you invest your love, you invest your life.

Nice cars require upkeep and also modifications, both of which requires money. Money that can be spent elsewhere *hint* and the woman *hint* doesn't always like money going into his car. And as Elizabeth posted, Happy Wife=Happy Life. Happens to often, wife doesn't like car, so car ends up being sold. :(

Personally, I wouldn't care if my husband modified his car, had a hobby of rebuilding them, etc. As long as the bills and kids were taken care of, and I occasionally got a present, that would be okay. The women you're referring to are high maintenance. High maintenance girls tend to be selfish, self centered, and overly pampered. Not all girls are like that. Who knows, maybe the Lord will bring you a mechanic type of girl! Y'all can bond over rebuilding engines and car shows. It's possible.

Well I was over-exaggerating :P If its his hobby thats good, we all need hobbies. My dad works on classic cars as a hobby. Like Aimee mentioned as long as bills, kids and I occasionally got a present, it would be fine :)

Maybe that is true^^^. Something deep inside me still tells me the car wouldn't be around for too long after the ring migrates to the left hand...

HAHAHA Well he would have to sell the car to afford the ring! Oh SNAP!
I kid, I kid lol

You never know. Perhaps that voice deep inside you is fear, or it's the voice of another guy who's counsel you've listened to.

I'de like to think that voice is common sense. And I have a good friend who is married and yeah you guessed it, the car is no longer what it used to be. He even told me to get my car now, because after/if I get married it surely won't happen then.

I'm not looking to get married anytime soon anyway, so it's not really a concern right now. :)

That's not fair. At all. I think marriages can go bad but it's wrong to assume every woman that exists is going to be a succubus from hell that finds a way to prevent you from having anything you desire. lol. There are women out there that would buy you the car and spoil you rotten....even if they couldn't afford it.

Life isn't fair. I didn't say she wouldn't let me have what I desire, but for some reason cars don't seem to go over well. Other hobbies, sure, but cars not so much. Would she like my model collection? Doubtful but they would stay i'm sure. Don't know if I could say the same about a car....

lol, true. Life ain't fair. Selection though. If cars are a big thing, there are ladies out there that love them just as much. I've seen a few cute female grease monkeys in my day but I'm not into cars at all personally. Why so pessimistic?

She can always have her own car...so whats the big deal? Besides God can bless you with a better car.

Like DuchessAimee said, if everything else was taken care of and the car (or any hobby or possession, this isn't limited to cars, really) wasn't holding us back from serving God both individually and as a couple, and the husband (or wife) doesn't hold it as an idol above his wife or more importantly, God, then I don't see it as a problem.

That was the longest sentence ever.
