You can not separate the light from the darkness if there is no darkness. In the end basically two things are to be fully known ,revealed,be brought to light. The man of sin will be revealed and God perfect plan and purposes in Christ and his body will be revealed.Unto all people, and unto principalities and powers in high places. If we look to the end as we know it we can sometimes better understand things we must go through to get where God is leading.

I feel that God did not create evil, it's when Lucifer defied God, an was fallen from heaven that, that's when evil came to be. You see, because of Lucifer's jelousy he defied God, and it's his jelousy that causes him to want us to turn our backs on God. Which's why Lucifer tries to tempt us into doing evil. That's when what you said Danchance that evil is a choice one makes. We can either let Lucifer's attacks turn us to evil, or let our faith, trust, prayers, and belief in God keep Lucifer's temptations to us make the best choice. Which's to ignore Lucifer's attacks, and choose good over evil. Thanks be to God!

God is the Creator of all creation so He also created evil. But why?

Sometimes you need fire to purify gold. Someone with the freedom to do what they desire( and which it is free-will) tell a lot about that person.

Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Matthew 4:7
Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Luke 22:31
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.

you test the fruits of your tree to see if it's is ready for the picken.

"Former of light and Creator of darkness, Maker of good and Creator of evil, I, Yahweh, make all these things." (Isaiah 45:7)

The word "evil" is a translation of the Hebrew word "ra" which has more than one meaning. It can mean wicked, harm, mischief, calamity, adversity, trouble, or affliction. In this specific verse the context is speaking to natural phenomena. (light, dark, floods, earthquake)

Isaiah 45:5-6 I am the LORD, and there is no God beside me; I girded thee, though thou hast not known Me. (6) That they may know from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none beside Me. I am the LORD and there is none else. NOW verse 7 I form the light and create darkness: I make peace and create ra I the Lord do all these things.

Romans 14:23 ....whatsoever is not of faith is sin. God did not create evil. We did.

I just lost my reply to this after 2 hrs. of thought gathering and typing, so here goes again, 1`st, I am no scholar, have poor spelling abilities, ok??? am Christian, repented several yrs. ago. I deserved nothing for the Good lord until I repented, then he forgave my sins and now I feel very close to Jesus, no I didn't say I qualified for sainthood, now, fall on my face or not, I keep on trying to be acceptable in his eyes, not mine!! Now, ill start again, the word EVIL, AS I UNDERSTAND IT, is a corruption or a add to, coming from the name of Adams mate/wife EVE. (DO NOT BE LIKE EVE) OR EVE LIKE, thus the word EVIL. because she broke Gods commandment to not eat of the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge in the garden of eden. Satin was in that garden cause he and his supporters/angles were cast down to earth after satin had tried to take control in heaven. satin lost the battle!!! Satin is known as Lucifer/the bright and morning star, when God created him he was made perfect, having authority and perfect beauty, but satin fell deeply in love with himself (ring any bells???) re: some men/woman, to go on, A war broke out in heaven against God and his supporters/angles, God being the creater and most high/and most powerful won the battle then cast satin and his followers down to earth, when God created man he also created a garden for him to live in prior, then, from Adams rib, God created A MATE for adam and adam called her woman and named her Eve. he called her woman cause God made her from mans/adams rib. Satin didn't loose any time in corrupting Eve by telling her it would be ok to take of the fruit fom the tree with the knowledge of good and evil for then she would like God, then eve took and did eat the forbidden fruit then talked adam into eating the fruit breaking Gods commandment (not to) and that was the very first sin/means to break Gods law/comandments. Lucifer is also known as satin or the deciver/ the father of lies/the evil one/the devil/the tempter etc. to back up a little, Adam-means=red earth cause he was made from the earth/dirt/clay. not sure what eve=means. also, Jesus means-savior, Christ-means=the chosen one, virgin means=not ever having had sex/intercourse. personally, I belive the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was the believing or taking in satins line of bull and doing his will over Gods. remember (the tempter/the deceiver?????) which is satin. the beginning!!!!!! signed: kenj.

add to last reply: no where in the bible does it say the forbidden fruit was an apple, no idea how that got started, maybe holly-wood, also i mistyped when I said I deserved nothing for, I meant to type, I deserved nothing (from) the Good lord signed: kenj

I,am doing research 0n this right now, thank you for pointing this out!!! this is important to me, I looked it up and I (think) what God was trying to convey was (maybe) that he , the Lord can bring (swift and sever vengeance, or HE can desolate etc.) so sever that man will think its evil, cause doesn't he also say that where evil igsist , I will not be found?? there is no evil in me, so many times the lord spoke in parables and we need to look for the deeper meaning. but I am researching this. I think you are j.w. and if so I want you to know I hold a deep love and respect for you. thank you so very much for this!!! the lord be with you!!! signed: kenj/kennyjames

I am chilled right through/goose bumps an all!! thank you!!! signed: kenj/kennyjames

Sorry, but I absolutely do not believe God created evil. Lucifer was perfect when God created Him. There are things we just don't understand. I think it's a mistake to try to understand things we don't have enough spiritual intellect to understand. For God to create evil would be for Him to do something opposite of His nature. Besides, evil is not a "thing." Evil is corruption or the desire to corrupt.

Friend, Lucifer was on God side at some point before he went evil. So Lucifer is actually a victim of evil itself. Evil is like a shadow, God is the light. Anything good God creates, the light of it cast a shadow, which is disobedience and corruption.

God Is the creator of all things. But He is not a creator of evil. Man's own free will created evil. that goes for the fallen angels and the enemy himself. God creates good, not bad. Evil came into the world when satan was kicked out of heaven. So if God is the creator of evil, why would he allow evil in heaven? well the answer to that, God has nothing to do with evil. He shuts himself off to evil. I'm a believer of opposite to everything, So God is good, Satan is bad, God creates good, Satan creates evil. There is opposite to everything. So Answer to your question, why God created evil. He didn't, pure and simple. Satan is the creator of all things bad. and its rubbed on us humans.

hi yourfriend4life!! I just got your answer, didn't God create evil??? answer is (yes) isaiah:45 verse 7 old testament. read it!!! I just been researching this cause yes , it says, I make peace and create Evil, I think what he is saying is he created Evil meaning he created (satin) Jesus spoke many times in parables, I think (like father/like son) now don't that just make since??????singed: kenj/kennyjames

hey/hollo: yes he did create creat Evil when he created (Satin) signed: kenj/kennyjames

Firstly, this is a question that forms the basis of the theodicy.

Secondly, I believe Augustine answered this with his argument that evil is the privation (or absence) of good. God is perfectly good, in fact, He is Love Itself. God did not create evil. Evil is the lesser choice that man and, at one time, angels can take. Evil is like cold or darkness. Neither exists in and of themselves. However, they can be percieved, so I do not deny the perception of evil, but that evil itself is not a thing or has its own existence. Evil is a choice, it is a lesser choice.

Thirdly, by Evil we often mean, "That which has no good, or does no good." In this definition, we can see even more the argument that Evil has no existence, but is the absence of good.

oh yes he did, he created evil when he created (satin) Isaiah 45,7 old testament, read it. signed:kenj/kennyjames thank you!

[h=1]Does God create evil?[/h] [h=3]Isaiah 45:7 and Amos 3:6[/h]
  • (Isaiah 45:7, KJV) - "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
  • (Amos 3:6) - "Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?"
Is God really the one who created evil? To answer the question we must first look at how the word for evil, "rah," is used in the Bible, examine the context of the Isaiah 45:7 passage, and look at other passages on the same subject.
First of all, the Hebrew word for evil, "rah," is used in many different ways in the Bible. In the KJV Bible it occurs 663 times. 431 times it is translated as "evil." The other 232 times it is translated as "wicked," "bad," "hurt," "harm," "ill," "sorrow," "mischief," "displeased," "adversity," "affliction," "trouble," "calamity," "grievous," "misery," and "trouble." So we can see that the word does not require that it be translated as "evil." This is why different Bibles translate this verse differently. It is translated as "calamity" by the NASB and NKJV; "disaster" by the NIV; and "woe" by the RSV.
Second, the context of the verse is speaking of natural phenomena.
"I am the Lord, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; 6That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun That there is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other, 7The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the Lord who does all these," (Isaiah 45:5-7).

Notice that the context of the verse is dealing with who God is, that it is God who speaks of natural phenomena (sun, light, dark), and it is God who is able to cause "well-being" as well as "calamity." Contextually, this verse is dealing with natural disasters and human comfort issues. It is not speaking of moral evil; rather, it is dealing with calamity, distress, etc. This is consistent with other scriptures. For example,

  • "And the Lord said to him, "Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him dumb or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?" (Exodus 4:11).
  • "Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?" (Amos 3:6).
Also, take note that Isaiah is presenting contrasts. He speaks of "light" and "darkness," "well being" and "calamity." The word "well-being" in the Hebrew is the word for 'peace,' "Shalome." So, in the context, we are seeing two sets of opposites: Light and dark, peace and non-peace, or well being and calamity. The "evil" that is spoken of is not ontological evil, but the evil experienced by people in the form of calamity.
From the above two verses (Exodus 4:11; Amos 3:6) we can see that the Lord is involved in calamity and problems in the earthly realm. Exodus 4:11 is speaking of human frailty and Amos 3:6 is speaking of woes in a city. It is not a moral evil that God brings, but calamity and distress upon people.
Of course, this raises other questions of why God would do such a thing, which I won't cover here. But, we can trust that whatever God does is just and is used for teaching, guiding, and disciplining His people.

Third, there are other verses that clearly show that God is pure and that He cannot approve of evil.

  • “The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; a God of faithfulness and without injustice, righteous and upright is He," (Deut. 32:4).
  • "Thine eyes are too pure to approve evil, and Thou canst not look on wickedness with favor," (Hab. 1:13).
We can see that the Bible teaches that God is pure and does not approve of evil, that the word "rah" (evil) in Hebrew can mean many things, and that contextually the verse is speaking of calamity and distress. Therefore, God does not create evil in the moral sense, but in the sense of disaster or calamity.

Lucifer was not evil to begin with. Also, Satan is NOT God's equal. Satan is finite, God is infinite. Satan chose against God and chose to be less than good. God created Satan to be the Angel of Light, to be the greatest angel in the kingdom, but Satan betrayed God.

yes he did, Isaiah 45.7 old testament, look for the deeper meaning!! he created evil when he created(satin) signed: kennyjames/kenj
