I've heard great arguments for both. What do you say?

There will be a new earth, actually a new heaven and a new earth...……...

Rev_21:1 (ASV) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away; and the sea is no more.

God is going to destroy this current Earth by fire; but he is going to make a new Earth: that is what we know.

So the old Earth will be gone, but God will make a new Earth - presumably out of what is left of the old? but I do not know for sure. But to call the next (the new) Earth indicates some sort of congruity or continuity with the first Earth.

So probably I should choose your second option, but I do not like its wording: "This Earth will remain forever (regenerated)".

I would say that this Earth will remain forever, but I do believe it well be regenerated.

The Lord seated on His throne, says, “I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:5)

Heaven and earth will pass away (
Mark 13:31), and they will be replaced by the new heavens and the new
earth, as we await the fulfillment of God’s plan, when the children of God will be revealed. (
Romans 8:19)

The new heaven and new earth are also mentioned in
Isaiah 65:17, Isaiah 66:22, and 2 Peter 3:13.

2 Peter 3:13 tells us that the new heaven and new earth will be “where righteousness dwells.”

Isaiah says that
“the former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.”

In the new creation, sin will be totally eradicated, and
“there shall be no more curse.” (Revelation 22:3, NKJV).

We will be free from sin, evil, sickness, suffering, and death.

Some say it will be earth as God originally intended it to be.

The tree of life will be there. (Revelation 22:2)

There will be:

• no more sea (
Revelation 21:1)
• no more death (
Revelation 21:4)
• no more mourning (
Revelation 21:4)
• no more weeping (
Revelation 21:4)
• no more pain (
Revelation 21:4)
• no more curse (
Revelation 22:3)
• no more night (
Revelation 22:5)

It does not actually say God is going to destroy Earth, in the sense of annihilate. It says that the earth will be "burned up". Fire is commonly used in the Bible to represent God's wrath. There is a pouring out of His wrath, whether through cataclysms or whether this is referring to humanity itself, which are earthen vessels, in either case the same principle in the Word stands. But also, it says the Earth is renewed. It says in the Bible that where it "was desolation", "now it's like a garden of Eden". Garden of Eden standing for the fullness of life. God ultimately restores and replants, after He purges by fire. Men are also called trees in the Bible. It is the bad tree that is cast into the fire. So rather than being annihilated which is imo reading into it, I'd say the earth being the perishable element is purged and replanted, as God continually makes all things new, because God does not function in future alone, but in past-present-future (Rev 1:19). The new heaven and new earth is John's vision of God's completed work for all which is always unfolding. Chaff burns but gold does not. The earth and the elements of this world are subject to destruction not as in annihilation but as in purging, discerning the perishable from the imperishable through consumption in fire as the perishable is removed.

Jeremiah 8:13 I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.

Daniel 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

my bible says everything will melt and destroyed by fire in 2 Peter 3:10.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.

i believe the old earth will be the where hades is and after being destroyed will be thrown into the lake of fire but we will be saved on the new heaven and earth.

If you see contradiction with that it means you didn't actually understand what I said

I've had 3 different visions of being in heaven .. Two visions were to see people in heaven after they had died, one I was there experiencing God, I never looked up to look around, didn't care .. I can say that you could exist as a rock in a wall in heaven and never be bored or get tired of it, not even close for eternity .. Satisfaction for all to the max and God is all and in all with us .. We may whine and complain now but it's all worth it is the understatement of all time ..

The earth and heaven will be destroyed by fire.

2 Peter 3:10

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

I've heard great arguments for both. What do you say?
Jesus said that He goes away to prepare a place for the saints that where He is at they may also be there.

Jesus went away from the earth to prepare a place so that is where the saints shall be forever, so this earth will pass away.

All sin must be purged with fire which the heavens shall melt with fervent heat, and the elements dissolved, for they were tainted with sin by the rebellion of the fallen angels.

The earth shall be burned up and all the works of it for it has been tainted with sin from people.

The Bible says the wicked shall go in to the lower parts of the earth.

Jesus went to the lower parts of the earth, and has the keys of death and hell for He conquered them..

The Bible says at the end of the millennial reign that death and hell were cast in to the lake of fire, so the earth shall be cast in to the lake of fire and be burned up.

God said He creates a new heaven, and a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered, nor come to mind for it is associated with sin and rebellion.

The first heaven and earth were passed away, and there was no more sea, and the former things are passed away, and all things become new.

The Bible says the earth and heaven fled away from the face of Jesus, and there was no place found for them.

The new earth, and new heaven is a place wherein dwells righteousness, a place where sin has never been, and sin will never be.

After the millennial reign of Christ on earth the saints will go to the new heaven, and new earth, the New Jerusalem, and the angels and saints will remember nothing prior to that but feel they have always been there, and nowhere else.

There will be a millennial reign of Christ on earth.

Jesus said not one jot or tittle shall in no wise pass from the law until all is fulfilled, and not only did Jesus have to be sinless, but He also had to fulfill all the roles of Israel government, and religious wise.

But He has not fulfilled the role of perfect King on earth, and it must be done on earth.

So Jesus has to rule on earth to fulfill the role of perfect King, and then at the end of the millennial reign the law is fulfilled, and the saints will go to the New Jerusalem.

Which during the millennial reign the LORD shall be king over all the earth, and in that day there shall be one LORD, and His name one, which means the heathen that God spared at the battle of Armageddon will not acknowledge any religious figure, or god, but Jesus.

Which the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the LORD, and Jesus will rule with a rod of iron for it will only be His way, and the people will not fight with each other, and the animals will not fight with each other, and be plant eaters, and people and animals will not fear each other, and a little child can lead the most ferocious beast on earth now, and that animal will have no desire to hurt the child.

And the heathen have to go up year after year to Jerusalem to worship the LORD, and keep the feast of tabernacles.

So how do people not see it will be a physical reign on earth.

The earth cannot be done over for it is physical and tainted with sin so it must pass away.

Rev 10:5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
Rev 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein,

that there should be time no longer.

Time is a creation like the physical creation is a creation.

Time is not a universal principle but only refers to this creation.

Before this creation there was no time, and after this creation there is no time, for everything goes on the same with nothing scheduled.

Time is a measuring tool to measure events, and things scheduled, and the sun is the measuring tool for the sun going down, coming back up, and going back down, counts a day.

elements melting/dissolved with fervent heat does not mean a wild fire. Elements in Greek here is what you think they mean in english, all that make up the earth and the atomic elemental level. A planet burning up. There will then be the state of without form and void and God will make a new earth. Where will we be? In the New Jerusalem in heaven I suppose. Then it comes down from heaven onto this new earth and God himself will dwell with us. That's how I see it so far. I am not sure if the new heavens is just the atmosphere or if it means the entire universe. I lean toward universe.

I do not know...

but we will have at least another thousand years to ponder upon it. Will the Earth be re-arranged and cleansed as it was by the flood. Could we say that it was remade anew then? First by water, but next by fire? Some have said that the Flood may have even shifted the continents around. A fire of Biblical proportions could certainly lick up oceans. Fascinating to think about. Good thread.

Good night, JohnBoy.

Revelation 20

1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

I don't really care. I WON'T BE HERE!

1 Corinthians, Chapter 15:

51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Y'all wanna hang around here on this regenerated OR new earth, hey, that's fine with me............BUT......... I'll be waaayyyy
up younder with my Lord and Savior.

Unfortunately in the above post I missed the word NOT in the last line
So the last line was intended to read:

I would not say that this Earth will remain forever, but I do believe it will be regenerated.[/QUOTE]

Are any here toying with the idea of a new earth like the one we are in not? This one is allied to decay. It seems reasonable the new earth will not be so. It will not have seas, so it will be a completely different system set up by the Perfect One.....… I think it is goin to be wonderful and I hope all are there.

Interesting question, technically they are both not true, according to some scholars, the earth will not be a brand new one or regenerated. It will be a redone earth. I am guessing from the implications of study that God is going to burn everything on this earth with fire after the battle of Armageddon ends, in the very end of time and he is going to redo everything and the new Jerusalem will come down to the new earth. Then we will dwell in the "brand new" earth. I assume that we have to be rewarded first and the devil and unbelievers will already be in the lake of fire. Its just my opinion.
