Abuse does come in many forms... for instance... If I saw the guy had a terrible temper at work--calling people names or slurs, swearing excessively, going off way beyond the situation, slamming things... but had never laid a hand on anyone--I would still consider this very potentially abusive behavior and would not consider a relationship with him.
