There never was a Big Bang.

It's mankind's attempt to explain what God did in the Creation... and going way off into left field.

Actually, calculating the start date is NOT "going against scripture" as there is no command AGAINST doing so. If you only do things which are commanded in scripture, why are you digesting your food, breathing, sleeping, writing on this thread, etc.

That's like saying that Jesus rode a Harley...after all, scripture never says that he didn't!

See your ignorance...?

Sure...

From which text are you going to sum the generations?

The MT or the LXX?

The difference is over 1Kyears!

You YEC's are stuck.

Well when we speak about going against scripture we speak about in our worship of God... the very way we hold spiritual enterprise and give worship unto Him. People like to throw random examples of... oh computers aren't in the bible, are you saying we can't use computers? It's a fallacious argument to even bring up mainly because using computers in of itself is not a way we worship God or in your example a motorcycle. Unless of course, the computer or motorcycle becomes an idol in one's life and then the individual needs to seek God regarding that particular issue.

The focus is on how we read God's word, understanding the doctrine He wants us to understand, applying it in our lives, and giving glory to Him. How we study His word and live in Christian conduct has no need to be compared to frivolous statements regarding extrabiblical practices that are not connected to the worship of God. Let's compare apples to apples instead of bringing in oranges.

And regarding the Masoretic Texts vs the Septuagint... other than the Septuagint having Methuselah die after the flood and other errors... even when we account for the generations, 1000 years is nothing compared to the "millions/billions/trillions" of years people like to say it took God to speak the Creation into existence in 6 days (Yom) and 1 day (Yom) of rest and the have the generations exist on this earth as He said it happened.

As an obvious YEC, which text do YOU use when you sum the generations, then?

Regarding the age of the Universe, using the natural laws created by God, we can calculate it to be in the billions of years....and, as you already stated, what does this time scale mean to an infinite God?

Think on it...

of course, you have it exactly wrong, the only ones to survive the flood were Noah and his family on the Ark - wincam

Here's the origin of the big bang... it has nothing to do with science, it's a religion. This was being taught thousands of years before the "scientific" big bang theory.

Time, as we know it, began approximately fourteen billion years ago. From the Kabbalistic, spiritual perspective, the “big bang” was the shattering of Adam’s soul. The reason we see it as a material event is that we see the world through corporeal (self-centered) eyes. If we could see it from the perspective of the force that induced this massive explosion we call “the big bang,” we would see it as an outcome of Adam’s attempt to receive using the last, and greatest desire, as described in the previous chapter.

no not even 6 days really but everything out of nothing complete and fully functioning in an instant on each of 6 days - wincam

seniors are adults and so are you - so get the message being preached - wincam

I already got the message a very long time ago.

God's record of nature tells us that His creation is billions of years old.

not at all - no life was possible millions of years ago - give or take a few billion - wincam

God's record of nature tells us that His creation is billions of years old.

Then why didn't He say so in Scripture?

God could have easily described a slow creation process over millions of years via evolutionary processes.

So why didn't He?

Why the instantaneous creation account in Genesis?

The only reason many Christians accept billions of years, is because they also accept the theory of evolution.

Then why didn't He say so in Scripture?

He did.

The Heavens declare His Glory...Psalm 19.

Thus, the study of Cosmology, and the laws of physics gleaned from it, proves beyond any reasonable doubt that the Universe and the earth are billions of years old.

Because we did NOT evolve from lower life forms!

Use your head...

Why the instantaneous creation account in Genesis?

Because that is what occurred.

The created things, mentioned in the Biblical creation accounts, burst onto the scene fully formed.

What you are failing to acknowledge is the vast amount of time that they were allowed to live and reproduce, in their respective life cycles....that time period was in the millions to billions of years.

No.

That would be the reason that YEC's reject an old Universe.

YEC's, for some strange reason, equate an ancient earth with human evolution - which is utterly untrue.

Jackhammer that into your head...

who's study of Cosmology and physics - millions of years ago there was nothing and even this nothing was blown up - believe it or not - wincam

If you only understood that God did make an instantaneous creation... at Gen.1:1.

But at Gen.1:2 that creation of old became a waste and a ruin (the actual meaning of Hebrew for "without form, and void").

In the fossil record there are layers of ancient animal and plant fossils, then a gap, and then another beginning of animal and plant fossils, showing there was a destruction upon the earth of old. Many believe that gap was the time of the flood of Noah, but I believe it was at Gen.1:2, because you will not find a statement past verse 1 of God creating the earth, but only moving the waters upon the earth to make the dry land appear.

Evolution is a theory of man. The existence of that fossil record is not.

There's obviously a failure here by many to understand what major event happened of old to cause God to destroy the old world prior to Gen.1:2. He even gave us details of it if we would hear Him in His Word (Jer.4:23-28; Ezek.28 & 31; Rev.12:3-4).

It was because the anointed cherub that covereth, i.e, Satan, coveted God's Throne and wanted to be The GOD, and worshiped as GOD (and still does). That was the very FIRST SIN ever, and Satan was who began sin, and the cause of death. This is why death is assigned to Satan, and it's why we are shown death eventually perishing with him in the lake of fire per Rev.20.

The events of Jeremiah 4:23-28 is not of a time of flesh man upon the earth. It was an angelic time prior to Adam and Eve when Satan first sinned with establishing a kingdom of his own upon the earth, the one third of angels of Rev.12:3-4 with him that he drew to earth.

God originally created a perfect creation, not like today's. Today's creation since Gen.1:2 has been in a state of vanity, in bondage, seeking release from it along with us when the time of the manifestation of the sons of God comes, i.e, in His future eternal Kingdom with a new earth and new heavens (Rom.8).

This is the reason why everything of this present world is in a state of imperfectness, and it's why even men seek perfection. It's not possible in this present creation, because God placed it in a state of vanity which is subject to 'death' and destruction, decay, chaos, disorder, i.e., confusion.

But in the new heavens and a new earth, we are shown God's Holy City on earth, and His River of Gen.2 established on earth with the tree of life bearing its fruits per its months and never being consumed, with our being changed to a body that cannot die, cannot suffer hot or cold, won't get hungry, etc. Has anyone ever found a tree like that tree of life in this world. Has anyone ever seen His River that when it touches other waters upon the earth they are healed and become stocked with many fishes like the Ezek.47 chapter shows? Has anyone in this present world ever seen a time when there was no death? Have we today seen wild animals like lions laying down next to a lamb and not wanting to kill as shown in the Book of Isaiah for the future?

Instead what does man think of today's world? They think it's perfect as it is, when it is not, and many worship today's state of creation which really goes against Him and His Word, showing how deceived many of His children are. We grow up watching nature shows of how today's animal kingdom operates, survival of the fittest and what not, and we think that is the natural way God wanted His creation to be, when it is not, as He has shown in His Word! Some men even pattern their lives based on how today's animal kingdom operates with the survival of the fittest attitude, not showing God's holiness but showing the beast nature aberration that the devil caused God to place today's creation into.

And then there's the Gen.2 & 3 event of God's Garden of Eden upon the earth, with His River of the waters of Life flowing out of that Garden on earth to feed four other rivers upon the earth, two of which still exist today (Tigris or Hiddekel and Euphrates). What of that? What was He showing us with that event of His Garden of Eden upon this earth in Gen.2, and then removing it after Adam and Eve's fall?
