Death is death not healing.
Death is a wonderful experience for those who are called home to be with our Lord. Do you really think that any of them would ever want to come back here, after being in the presence of the Almighty? Death can be a form of healing...the only way you can't see that is if you have eyes only for what is temporary.

Of coarse we trust in His promises.
Make sure you understand what is promised. And what is not.
And when.
Some of you are just contrary on purpose no matter what is said because you have been offended and you have to find some way to defend your own understanding.

It has been stated over and over.....that someone got 'burned' in this movement; or that church.
I just have to ask,......who has not been burned at one time or another?
If 'getting burned' was a litmus test for finding truth no one would get saved.
Because everyone gets burned at one time or another!
Do you think the Apostles didn't get burned? By fellow believers in Jehovah?
I tell you, it is a rite of passage that you must get 'burned'.
Either in this life or the next.

People in every type of church, and every kind of belief have been burned in that church, mode, or belief system.
If you are going to skip along to the next because you were 'burned' in the last....just be prepared.....to face adversarial relationships again.
Until you finally learn.

My daughter's mother-in-law has cancer.
She's known about it for some time, and believes if she doesn't seek medical treatment she will be healed
because people at her church have told her so.
Okay, fine.

Her sister was also told this, and she died.
She condemns her own sister, saying if she'd had enough faith, she would not have died.

I believe with my whole heart that God can heal this cancer. (I am praying for this)
What I want to know is, which one of you will step up to condemn this woman if she dies? :(

It would be a foolish thing NOT to seek treatment for this cancer. If God leads you to pray for her then do it but if not, what are going to do then, pray anyways and believe the best? Just because your a Christian that believes in God does that mean that you are obligated to pray for this person in this way? If you did not pray what would your daughter and others think of you? Would you pray if the Spirit lead you specifically not to pray or would you consider that not having compassion? Do you pray because you have compassion or do you pray in the Spirit with compassion?

This whole thing in telling others about not having enough faith is a religious faith that has no discernment in the plan of God. There have been precious believers who have been sick and suffering that knew that it was time to go home and be with the Lord and we never prayed that God would heal them. We prayed for the family and for God to draw them but not for healing and we knew in our spirit and agreed with her. This case with your daughter's mother-in-law may be different but seek God's face in this before you pray and then be lead how and what to pray for as you make your request known to God. I hope that no one thinks I am being evil in this or without compassion.

Without compassion? No, Red, I don't think that of you. :)
And not evil, ever. :)

I did seek God's face, with Mark, over the weekend.
(but thanks for the heads up--it's always good advice!)
At first, we just sat,and did not know how to pray. It was a couple of days before we did. I believe the Holy Spirit was actively involved during that time, as we could do nothing but cry and groan before the Lord.

And I agree it's foolish not to seek treatment.
But the people at her church have had 'words' from God that if she seeks treatment, she will not be healed. :(
I am asking the Lord to make a fool of me, if He will.
I am asking for mercy for all of them. My daughter's father-in-law has Parkinson's, and so far needs his wife for care.

I am asking the Lord to help my SIL see that his mom is doing her level best to be obedient, as she sees it, and that the Lord looks at the heart and knows this. (to help with his anger...which I think is caused by sadness)

It may be foolishness, but to her, because of what she's been told my those in ministry and leadership at her church she thinks she's obeying the Lord. Her husband is also behind it, and that's something as he's usually skeptical.
I am asking for mercy on that account.

We none of us can fully know another's place in their walk and maturity.
I mean, we can surmise, and sometimes the Lord gives us insight, but no one knows the heart but God. Right? :)

And I completely agree that there are times we know it's time for a brother or sister to go Home, and we don't ask God to heal, we pray for mercy and grace for the people who love them. Absolutely. And that is true compassion, I think.

I don't disagree with a single thing you said. :)
But I am sad that this is taking place. I hope you don't think that's evil...

I missed it, but we do agree and seem to have some likemindedness, without our sarcasm of course.

I'm very sorry if I was sarcastic, Red. :(

That was never my intention, and I hope you will forgive me? ♥

I know, Rick.
Red's a wonderful man. :)

But I sure would like to hear it from him...that he forgives me. :(

My heart has been broken at the broken fellowship here.
That's what I would like to see healed. ♥

Although that may be true at times i suppose. But in this case the point that was made
was not a reaction. If your trying to put your faith into a promise that was not a promise,
or a conditional promise, based on a lack of understanding you will end up disappointed.
And possible tear yourself down needlessly. Also your projecting. :)

Ellie, you are making a mountain out of something that isn't there.
Red's last post to you was conciliatory.
Trust me,.....he was showing a kinsmanship to you,.....(though in a very RED way).

1 Peter 5

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. 5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 11To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand. 13The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son. 14Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Romans 16

16Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.
