Telling a person with mental issues to just Pray to God is very dangerous, if not criminal at best!

Many people have very real problems that need intensive counseling and medications.

If a person is depressed and very suicidal and all you want them to do is pray to God??? No!
Neglect NEITHER. THAT is what I said from the beginning

Whatever is in your ability to do, do it
And all the while do not neglect prayer

If every illness Physical or Mental could be healed by prayer every Hospital would be closed and Psychiatrists would be looking for new jobs. Also every Christian would belong to the Christian Scientist Church and be an avid devotee of Mary Baker Eddy.
It worked and it was not prayer to any but the GOD and FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST

A man doesn't always get what he prays for but he always reaps what he justly earns.
Does that make sense regarding the GOSPEL and GOD's mercy and grace

Isn't this what in the end will be exalted and glorified above all things?

Your pastor should have told you to see your doctor and still NOT neglect prayer...

Yes....it makes total sense.
No it doesn't...GOD'S GRACE is GOD'S GRACE...which is unmerited...unearned...favor...

A man who prays is a man with wisdom understanding and acknowledging GOD as the ONE who is sovereign over all things...
Including one's own mind...

I quote you: "A man doesn't always get what he prays for but he always reaps what he deserves?"
Does he YET know what he actually DOES deserve?

If he did, he would pray...

Pastors are usually not trained to handle severely emotionally upset and disordered people. If they are, they usually have formal training such as an MSW, PhD in Counselling or a Masters or Doctorate in Christian Counselling or Ministry (with an emphasis on counselling).

Pastors usually refer such persons to a licensed or certified Christian Counsellor. Such Professionals work closely with Pastors/Ministers/Priests (if permitted by the client/patient) to address the underlying issues (usually severe trauma and/or possible assessment that may suggest neuro-biochemical issues requiring a medical/psychiatric referral).

If suicidal or serious self-harm issues are present or there is a danger of harm to others call and get help immediately at your local hospital or via 911 (or your Emergency phone number). Do not wait. (You can pray and spiritually support this person or get that support for yourself. You can contact spiritual leaders as well.) But, if it is URGENT: FIRST call and get this kind of help, please!

When did I argue against God's grace or the finished work of Christ on the cross? I said a man doesn't always get what he prays for but he always reaps what he justly earns.

For starters every man has earned a date with death on the account of his sinful nature. In the physical world the human brain is the pinnacle of God's creation. IMO. He has given us the ability to reason and to feel love. The mind is a garden. Everywhere in scripture it talks about the wisdom of God.....were we not created in His image? That he would allow us to possess what I think is one of his coolest attributes....wisdom...and it kind of goes hand in hand with love. Anyway, I digress.

The outward state of a man is a direct reflection of his inner state. Given that God made us in His image, we also possess his ability and love of creating. We can not directly influence our outward circumstance and what happens to us. But we certainly do influence it by way of the condition of our soul and spirit. If you grow a garden full of evil and destructive thoughts in your mind........you will most certainly reap a harvest of sorrow.....and you earned that garden.

I have a real hard time with Psychology/Psychiatry. I guess I feel God/Word of God can deal with these issues. Anyone else feel this way or am I a minority? :)
Let me quote this scripture for you. This one verse speaks about this issue:

II Timothy 1 verse 7 (KJV) "For God has not given us The Spirit of fear; BUT OF POWER, AND OF LOVE, AND OF A SOUND MIND" Amen.

We war not against Godly Thinking or Desire to be a servant of God, rather we war against Evil Spirits going against God 24/7 375. Some Mental problems are caused by Physical problems only a Doctor can diagnose, and others are caused by Evil Spirits who can indwell a Human, and get people to do all ungodly thinking, or abuse of themselves to destroy that person Mentally as well as Physically. The Good news; is we serve a God who can heal and Cure all of it. I have personally witnessed as a Missionary Demons cast out of people. We can read in scriptures where Jesus cast out many evil.spirits.

He has given this power to all his dedicated servants who are willing to Fast and Pray, and who trust and beleive him without not any doubts...

Sirk. Do you somehow think that these who suffer with intrusive thoughts and psychosis want to be like this?

Do you know any person who enjoys being sick?

What would you think they would pray for or go to a doctor for?

Because they want to continue in this suffering? They want to continue in this state?

Are you confusing those with a seated concience with these who are duffering and know they are suffering from mental illness who want to get better and are condemning them as deserving this suffering?

The outward man is manifested by the inner thoughts of that man's spirit? Is this what you are suggesting. That they need to control their inner intrusive thoughts or otherwise they will just reap what is inward...

Really?

I don't believe I am understanding you correctly

And....I am actually hoping that I am not understanding you correctly
