Then why do you not preach this? if this is true, then you could never lose heaven, it is yours, it is guaranteed, it could never be lost.
EG,
I'm not here to PREACH!
My original intent to being here is because I like to talk about biblical principles and God. I don't get to do this much anymore since moving here.
What would make you think I don't know what salvation is? Because I like to say that it's REQUIRED to follow God's moral Laws?
As far as guaranteeing --- The N.T. does not GUARANTEE my salvation. It's only guaranteed IF I'm STILL SAVED when I die.
IF I still am believing in Jesus for my salvation. The sealing of the Holy Spirit is very much misunderstood. We are SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, IF we leave the Holy Spirit, we are not longer sealed by Him. I know you don't agree with this.
Check out 2 Corinthians 6:16-18
Paul is saying that we are a temple and that God will walk with us IF we come out of the world and are separate from the world and do not touch what is unclean AND GOD WILL WELCOME US. HE will be our FAther and we will be His SONS, IF we do what He says...
Also, Ephesians 1:14
New International Version
"..who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory."
Some bibles say guarantee, some bibles say earnest (KJV) or deposit (NIV).
In EITHER CASE, they ALL say UNTIL our redemption-- or our being gotten back forever--eternal life.
UNTIL means it did not happen yet... Paul himself said, "I press on" --- he's CONTUING, he's NOT THERE YET.
Philippians 3:14 New International Version (NIV)
14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Everything up to here, I prety much agree with, And this is why I work also. Except for one small thing, I do not do it because I must, I do it because I WANT TO. Because Gods way is so much better than the worlds way, It is proven every time I do it. And I do it out of gratitude for what God gave me (hence my name) and I do it because I know God has my best interest at heart, and would never tell me to do something that would hurt me.
Now, You forgot to tell us the one thing you also do it for, you tell us all the time, To maintain your salvation. That makes heaven a reward, because your working to keep it. and not lose your right to enter in.
As you can see in the above verse in Philippians, Paul also calls it a prize. So maybe heaven is the reward. I'm not used to speaking in these terms. I don't really care for it. I belong to the Kingdom of God. I follow its laws and rules. I'm ALREADY in heaven and plan to stay there. Of course there is no guarantee, but if it's up to me, I will be in the Kingdom when I die.
If you continue reading in Philippians 3:14-20 you'll see the above being spoken of by Paul.
As I said, OF COURSE we do works because we love God and thank Jesus. BUT think of those reading along, maybe new Christians... we all need to understand that Jesus did not REQUEST us to do good works because we love Him,
HE DEMANDED that we do good works IF we want to be in His Kingdom, right here on earth.
Philippians 3:14-20 New International Version (NIV)
14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Following Paul’s Example
15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.
18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.
20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
This should remind you of Mathew 7:21...
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father..."
And it is not just a good thing to do, It is the best thing to do.
Well he said have faith in me, and I will save you, and I will give you rest, And I will make you able to work. because I will make you a new creation based on the fact you trusted me,
Where is this scripture? I'm not familiar with it... please post scripture.
Yes Jesus did teach grace, and Gods grace is hyper, it can not get more free than it always is to the reliever of it. It can never be earned, otherwise, it is not grace it is works.
But I agree, we have to get off these doctrine names like hypergrace and OSAS and just believe what God said instead of trying to disproof some doctrine we hate.
But doctrine names tell of a belief! There's nothing wrong with saying "eternal security" or "OSAS". It can but down the discussion quite a bit...
How many times do I have to answer question 2. This really gets old fran, if I did not know better I would think you were being dishonest, and keep asking the same question over and over just to upset me.
Go back and look at my posts, I have answered this so many times I lost track.
I'm sorry EG. I REALLY can't remember. At least you've come to the conclusion that I'm honest and for this I thank you. I do my best...
Do you work to maintain salvation or not? Yes or no will suffice..( I already know the answer of course, You said you do many times over, just like I have answered you what a good work as apposed to a work of the flesh is many times)[/COLOR
Oh. You're talking about a work as opposed to a work of the flesh?
We're not supposed to be doing works of the flesh. Maybe this is why I don't understand what you mean.
By works of the flesh, you mean... it can't be sin...
I'm a little confused...If you don't want to explain, it's OK.
