As always, the context of Paul's words is to those who keep the Law in order to be justified. And in that regard, I'm in complete agreement with what Paul is saying here.
But as always, the distinction needs to be made between those who keep the Law in order to be justified, and those who keep the Law out of loving obedience to our Savior with no thought of trying to gain more favor or standing with God.

This is a distinction that is often overlooked and leads to a lot of strife in the whole Law discussion.
Those who keep the law because they believe they are being obedient are attempting to be justified by it.

You can't separate it. The Law is not of Faith.

You are trying to be justified in your law keeping by pretending its obedience. There is only One Way to be Obedient.

That is by coming to the Lord Jesus Christ and Receiving Rest.

You can't work and rest at the same time.

I can't even go on to spiritual principles because you can't even grasp this.

You are attempting to mix Law with Grace and they don't mix. You have to choose one or the other. And you have chosen.

I just keep trying to show you something better. But you would not.

Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

Hi Grandpa. I noticed you were saying that obeying the law and having faith are mutually exclusive. I've personally always been under the impression that they work together, and are both a part of salvation, but I'm open minded to new understandings. So, since we should no longer obey the law in your opinion, can you please explain why thelaw will kept during the millenium? I found this cute lil video earlier, and it raised a lot of questions about the law. What do you think?

I highly suggest that you don't view his cultic videos from 119Ministries.

I sent an email to him about this and confronted his deceitful behavior in this regard.

Here was his reply:

Would you say lies could be used for good sometimes, when they're used against God's enemies?

That is your 'dead' understanding not mine.

Galatians 3
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Wrong. You can absolutely be obedient to God without the motivation to be justified by it. Do some do it be justified? Yes. That's what the Pharisees did. But not everyone who tries to follow the Law does.

You are trying to be justified in your law keeping by pretending its obedience. There is only One Way to be Obedient.
This is so absolutely wrong, it's hilarious. The fact that you believe this, despite the amount of time I have said the exact opposite is saddening. Even my signature is evidence of this. And always, I challenge you find a place where I have said anything close to this. YOU WILL NOT. And in all likelihood, you will ignore this challenge and move on to something else knowing that you CANNOT. All you have is your faulty perception of what is going on despite the evidence.

That is by coming to the Lord Jesus Christ and Receiving Rest.

You can't work and rest at the same time.
It depends on what someone is working for. For justification? You're correct. It's not possible.
To do God's will? You can absolutely be obedient to God in your daily living while still accepting His gracious salvation and rest.

I can't even go on to spiritual principles because you can't even grasp this.

You are attempting to mix Law with Grace and they don't mix. You have to choose one or the other. And you have chosen.
Nope. Wrong again. For justification? You're right; you can't mix Law and Grace. So I choose Grace over the Law.
Read that again: I CHOOSE GRACE.
Now, believe that and stop making things up to try and make your argument look better.

I just keep trying to show you something better. But you would not.
Hey, it's your choice to believe something is completely wrong. Go for it. But in the meantime, the only thing that is "better" for justification is GRACE. Actually, that's the best thing. Actually, its the ONLY thing.

Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
Excellent words; to the people trying to be JUSTIFIED by the Law. Let's look at some context of Paul's words:

Galatians 2:15-16 “We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles; 16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

Galatians 2:21 "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."

Galatians 3:3 "This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

Galatians 3:11 "Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “The righteous man shall live by faith."

Galatians 3:18-22 "For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise. 19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.20 Now a mediator is not for one party only; whereas God is only one. 21 Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law. 22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe."

Galatians 3:24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith."

And then your verse...
Galatians 4:9 "But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again?"

In Galatians, Paul is talking to those trying to be justified by the Law.
I CANNOT be justified by the Law.

That's all I'm going to say to you on this matter from now on. If you refuse to recognize and accept what I am saying, it is fruitless to engage with you anymore on the subject.

Have a blessed day Brother.

.
I think you are tripping over this word justified. You don't understand what it means.

Be ye therefore Perfect as your Father in Heaven is Perfect.

That is the goal of the law. It is an inward goal. Your work at it in the flesh is a farce.

You are pretending that the weak and beggarly elements, that were temporarily used as a tutor for those with no faith, is what obedience is about. Its not.

We are called to walk in the Light. No one has called us to walk in the shadow.

There is One Way to be obedient. It is by faith in Christ.

1 Timothy 1
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

The goal of the commandment, the prize as it were, is the Fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 9

[SUP]31 [/SUP]But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

[SUP]32 [/SUP]Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

check Isaiah 14, this is [the promised rest] the whole creation gets after satan
can decieve no more, when The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth
into singing, the whole earth and creation At - one-ment with God at last,

study the whole chapter, and the time frame this happens.

19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly,
but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage
of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

-creation was not made this way in the begining.
7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy

Isaiah 14:7
1For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land:
and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
2And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel
shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids: and they shall
take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
3And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow,
and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,
4That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say,
How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
5The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.
6He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations
in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.

7The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.

8Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying,
Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
9Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead
for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones
all the kings of the nations.

-this hapens in the future when Christ comes and satan gets locked up
the whole world will be at rest then in the 7th 1000 years of mankind.

a day is like a 1000 years to God.

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown,
and they [Israel] shall come which were ready to perish …
and shall worship the [Eternal] in the holy mount at Jerusalem” (Isaiah 27:13).

-When will Israel be regathered? At the sound of the trump— at the Second Coming of Christ.

For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

Blessed is the man that doth not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditate day and night. When a man hath given place to evil counsel, or to his own concupiscence, he begins to forget himself in his sin, and so falls into contempt of God, which contempt is called the seat of the scorners. The mouth of the righteous will speak of wisdom, and his tongue will talk of judgment. For the Law of his God is in his heart, and his steps shall not slide. These three points are required of the faithful, that their talk be godly, that God’s law be in their heart, and that their life be upright.

But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and will be their God, and they shall be my people. In the time of Christ, my law shall instead of tables of stone be written in their hearts by My holy Spirit. Sacrifice and offering, and burnt offerings, and sin offerings, thou would not have, neither hadst pleasure therein (which are offered by the Law.) This is the Testament that I will make unto them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my Laws in their heart, and in their minds I will write them. And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Then said I, Lo, I come: for in the roll of the book it is written of me. I desired to do thy good will, O my God: yea, thy Law is within mine heart. Behold, I desire thy commandments: quicken me in thy righteousness. When thou hadst opened mine ears and heart, I was ready to obey thee, being assured that I was written in the book of thine elect for this end.

And let thy loving kindness come unto me, O Lord, and thy salvation according to thy promise. So shall I make answer unto my blasphemers: for I trust in thy word. And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth: for I wait for thy judgments. So shall I always keep thy Law forever and ever. And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts. He shows that God’s mercy and love is the first cause of our salvation. By trusting in God’s word he assures himself to be able to confute the slanders of his adversaries. They that simply walk after God’s word, have no nets to entangle them, whereas they that do contrary, are ever in nets and snares. And be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. Another admonition. Therefore is God’s word heard, that we may frame our lives according to the prescript thereof. He adds reasons, and those most weighty: first, because they that do otherwise, do very much hurt themselves.

For if any hear the word, and do it not, he is like unto a man, that beholdeth his natural face in a glass. Then, because they lose the chiefest use of God’s word, which correct not by it the faults that they know. He alludes to that natural spot, that is contrary to that purity when he was born again, the lively image whereof we behold in the Law. For when he hath considered himself, he goeth his way, and forgetteth immediately what manner of one he was. But who so looketh in the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, shall be blessed in his deed.

Now go, and write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the last day forever and ever: That it is a rebellious people, lying children, and children that would not hear the Law of the Lord. Which say unto the Seers, See not: and to the Prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things: but speak flattering things unto us: prophesy errors. That is, this prophecy. That it may be a witness against them for all posterity. He shows what was the cause of their destruction, and brings also all misery to man: to wit, because they would not hear the word of God, but delighted to be flattered, and led in error.

I Charge thee therefore before God, and before the Lord Jesus Christ, which shall judge the quick and dead at that his appearing, and in his kingdom, Preach the word: be instant, in season, and out of season: improve, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not suffer wholesome doctrine: but having their ears itching, shall after their own lusts get them an heap of teachers, and shall turn their ears from the truth, and shall be given unto fables. To false and unprofitable doctrines, which the world is now so bewitched withal, would rather the open light of the truth were utterly put out.

Hearken unto me ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my Law. Fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their rebukes. For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wood: but my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation. I hate falsehood and abhor it, but thy Law do I love.

The rebellious child today has teh audacity to say he is free of obehying the law while he has never studied it in the first place..

He says teh law was his turor, yet if you ask him, he has no idea of which laws are impossible to follow since the wonderful and unmatchable sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

That rebellious child has no idea of the new dietary freedom because of the teachings of our Lord.

Many of these rebellious children exact a new age version of tithing for the sake of filthy lucre, for we all know, those who know the law, tithing according to the Word is impossible in the present.

The rebellious child has no idea that God stated He gave the Children of Israel statues and ordinances that were bad and should not be followed.

The rebellious child does not study the law and Jesus Christ to know th eabsolute freedom we enjoy while obeing the laws that remain, those laws that contain mercy and grace..

No the rebellious child is still preaching a law carved in sstone, and that obedience under grace is being under the law. This is nothing more or less than perversion, for how do we know we are children of obedience unless we obey the laws that remain for us left by Jesus Christ?

Yes we are savied by grace, and given the gift of faith, thus we know we have nothing to fear ever again of the law, for its curse was crucified on the cross with our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Never teach agains the law, especially while you are not educated in it neither before the lifting of the curse when it was without mercy on stone, nor after the curse has been lifted by faith in Jesus Christ.
One who is truly free is no longer afraid of the curse of the law, and obeys according to the Word and the personal teaching of our Lord, Jesus Christ.. Children, do not teach against what you have never learned. Jesus Christ is Lord, and He is the Master (Teacher.)

Sadly, the many of people who speak against the Law as burdensome and dead have never taken the time to read them in their entirety, let alone try following them.

Many people would say that all of the commands are good and wise things to do as individual practices. But when you attach them to the term "Law," then they aren't worthy of our attention.

I know this thread is five months old, but I just found it, because someone resurrected it in the last few days, I guess. I don't know if this point has been addressed:

None of the poll answers respond to biblical truth, which is that in Christ we are to worship every day. No one day is set aside. All of them are our "sabbath" in Christ.

entering rest

Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering
into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

-how did they came short?

Heb 4:2 For indeed we have had good tidings preached unto us,
even as also they: but the word of hearing did not profit them,
because it was not united by (faith) with them that heard.

-they did not have faith.

Heb 4:3 For we who have believed do enter into that rest;even as
he hath said, As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest:
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Heb 4:4 For he hath said somewhere of the seventh day on this wise,
And God rested on the seventh day from all his works;

-notice entering into that rest is connected with the seventh day.

Heb 4:5 and in this place again, They shall not enter into my rest.
Heb 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some should enter thereinto,
and they to whom the good tidings were before preached
failed to enter in because of disobedience,

-God said they will not enter His rest, but they failed because of disobedience.
the 7th day Sabbath command.

Heb 4:7 he again defineth a certain day, To-day, saying in David
so long a time afterward (even as hath been said before),
To-day if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts.
Heb 4:8 For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.

-David said "today" long after Joshua took them into the promised land
so thus proving that there is a rest still to be entered.

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest hath himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest,
that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.

-A rest remains, but notice the issue is do not disobey.

Heb 9:3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle
which is called the Holy of holies;
Heb 9:4 having a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about
with gold, wherein was a golden pot holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded,
and the tables of the covenant;

-the pot of manna was put in the most Holy

Deu 8:2 And thou shalt remember all the way which Jehovah thy God hath led thee
these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know
what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not.
Deu 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna,
which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man
doth not live by bread only, but by everything that proceedeth out of the mouth of Jehovah doth man live.

God tested them for 40 years to humble them to see what was in their hearts.
that they should live by every word (10 commandments spoken by Gods own mouth)
not by bread alone.

-what did the bread teach?

Exo 16:4 Then said Jehovah unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you;
and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them,
whether they will walk in my law, or not.
Exo 16:5 And it shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which
they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
-and how long did God prove them with the manna?

Exo 16:32 And Moses said, This is the thing which Jehovah hath commanded, Let an omerful
of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread wherewith I fed you in
the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
Exo 16:33 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omerful of manna therein,
and lay it up before Jehovah, to be kept throughout your generations.
Exo 16:34 As Jehovah commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
Exo 16:35 And the children of Israel did eat the manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited;
they did eat the manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.

-40 years. this is the issue being spoken of in Hebrews:

Heb 3:16 For who, when they heard, did provoke? nay, did not all they
that came out of Egypt by Moses?
Heb 3:17 And with whom was he displeased forty years?
was it not with them that sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
Heb 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest,
but to them that were disobedient?
Heb 3:19 And we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.

Hebrews 4:4-10 "For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise,
And God did rest the seventh day from all his works [Gen. 2:2-3].

And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth
that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in
because of unbelief [sound familiar?]: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David,
To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
There remaineth therefore a rest [see below] to the people of God. For he that is entered
into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his."

and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God

The LORD created the seventh day (Sabbath), blessed and sanctified it
"because that in it he had rested from all his work".

-once God has blessed something, can it be undone?

Numbers 23:19-20 "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man,
that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall
he not make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless:
and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it."

Here Balaam tells Balak that the LORD gave him a commandment to bless Israel.
He told Balak that what the LORD has blessed, he cannot reverse it.
Do we think we can reverse the blessing the LORD has placed on something?

1 Chronicles 17:26-27 "And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness
unto thy servant: Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may

I like what you are saying. Worship is constant. As for Jesus being my Sabbath, I believe He is Salvation. Sabbath is reference to the Seventh Day, and we are to keep it separate. It is not a law, and barely a command. It is a gift of God to His Children to share it with Him.

Also the Sabbath is allegorically the 1000 years to come with Jesus.

It is a little more involved than most who talk so knowingly about it declare. It isstill a mystery in many aspects to me, but it is a promise also of a time to come, when we enter into it with our King- Imtoñ tjatto,e. èp`ñe ,au cjpse wjatever dau tjeu ñole tp jave wprsjo`servoces----------everudau os fome. bit tje prder pf creatopm. amd tje prder pf tje cp,omg 1, 00 years is ordered by God, not by men, no matter how much they protesst the Sabbath is passñe........

God bless all who hear Jesus Chrsit, amen.

guess. I don't know if this point has been addressed:

None of the poll answers respond to biblical truth, which is that in Christ we are to worship every day. No one day is set aside. All of them are our "sabbath" in Christ.

The rebellion is against God not the law.

Everyone is under the law until they come to Christ.

Those that are still in rebellion think they are still under the law and are still required to work at it.

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Romans 8:2-4
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
[SUP]4 [/SUP]That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Hebrews 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Hebrews 7:15-16

[SUP]15 [/SUP]And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

Seems abundantly evident that the Power of God is not in His Law but In Christ.

What is it about faith in Christ that you are afraid of? Whatever it is, it is unfounded.

1 Timothy 1:5-7

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

[SUP]6 [/SUP]From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

[SUP]7 [/SUP]Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

Galatians 3:10-12
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Here's a thread that I wrote on Matt 5:17-19.

Matthew 5:17-19 and Sabbathkeeping Claims

I am a former Sabbath/festival keeper.

I would also recommend Dale Ratzlaff's book Sabbath in Christ on this issue. Christians do not need to follow the Old Covenant ceremonial and ritualistic laws.

Christians do not need to follow the Old Covenant ceremonial and ritualistic laws.
Need to? No.
Get to? Yes.

I am a current Sabbath/Festival Keeper.

It is a privilege and a blessing to walk in the way God wants His people to walk.
It is even more of a blessing to have forgiveness when I don't.

The problem isn't God's commands.
The problem is how we respond to them.

I suppose if God had wanted us to walk in Old Covenant ceremonial and ritualistic laws He would have called a priest after the order of Aaron.

Instead of the order of Melchisedec.
