Actually, water baptism is not where you confess your sins just before they hold your head under the water.
So, where you got that idea, isn't found in a New Testament.
It came from :

1. Your denomination

2. Your commentaries

3. Your wrongly dividing some verses.

4. OR..... All of the above.
I actually got the idea from the word of God.
Luke 3:8, Mark 1:3-5, Matt 3:3-8, and Acts 26:20.

Its fine to water baptize, but when you teach that you must be water baptized, as a part of God's redemption, then you are teaching the heresy of "baptismal regeneration".

If you are born again, then when you get to heaven, Find JESUS and the Dying Thief and explain to them both, that they got it wrong, and made a mistake, as the dying thief is not supposed to be in Heaven, according to your Church's doctrine.....as he was not water baptized ..

As you said............in every case.......in the Acts of the Apostles.......where you find someone being water baptized....they always BELIEVE FIRST............as that is the moment of Salvation, and New Birth.
This person you are trying to help, might open a NT to Acts 8, and read where Phillip is talking to the EUNUCH, who wants to be water baptized.....and Phillip explains......."yes you may, IF YOU HAVE BELIEVED WITH ALL YOUR HEART, FIRST"/...

WATER follows Salvation............it never causes Salvation.
How could it?
Did water baptism die on the Cross for our SIN?
Did water baptism shed its Blood for our Sin?
Was water baptism raised from the Dead?

Did the dying Thief on the Cross, who is in heaven right now, get water baptized?
No he did not., and YET< there He is in Heaven right now with Jesus.

I was born again, 11 yrs before i was water baptized.
And after it was over, we stood around while they drained the baptismal water.
Someone who has no idea about the Cross, says to me....."there go all your sins, see that water"....

And i thought..........."ok, im not to insult them, as they just water baptized me, but what i was thinking was.......>"no fool, my SINS are on CHRIST 2000 years AGO< who saved me by HIS BLOOD and HIS DEATH.....proven by the Resurrection""".

Water need not apply.....
It is obvious that a person must believe the gospel message otherwise why bother to be obedient to it's associated commands to repent and be baptized.

Paul asked a curious question if in fact believing prompts the immediate rebirth, "Have you received the Holy Ghost SINCE you believed?" (Acts 19:1-6) Why not just ask, "Are you guys believers?" His question speaks to the truth the receiving the Holy Ghost does not occur the moment a person believes. Paul goes on to tell the group that John's baptism was not sufficient they had to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. They obey. And afterward they receive the Holy Ghost.

Obviously as a sign of being IDENTIFIED with - Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.

It is NOT necessary for salvation. Any more than circumcision is.
The word says it is to be done for the remission of sin. (Acts 2:38, 22-16)

Also, do you realize what God said about those who were not circumcised in accordance with His OT mandate?

Gen 17:14
And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

I find it interesting how people refuse to accept scripture that contradicts their understanding. Even so, I have shared many other scriptures that speak to the truth.
You've done nothing like you presume. I've shown from Scripture that water baptism has NO part in salvation at all.

It's a symbol of our being identified with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.

I quoted from Acts 11, which proves that salvation occurred BEFORE any water baptism.

Paul made the point that he was to preach the gospel, NOT baptize people. If that doesn't convince you of truth, nothing will.

I think we're done here.

I've already explained what Acts 2:38 was about. But you aren't listening.

What do you think "breaking my covenant" means?

" His question speaks to the truth the receiving the Holy Ghost does not occur the moment a person believes. .
You again are trying to reinvent the Gospel as "get in the water and be saved".
So, the water cults that you are representing, reject the Grace of God, and try to subvert the Blood of Jesus, with the self effort of water baptism.
So, when you teach that something you DO, ...........water baptism, is both the reason you are born again, and WHY, then you have just preached "another Gospel:, and when you do that, you become this.

Paul's theology and mine are hand in hand and heart to heart.

So, the issue is.......when you teach that water is REQUIRED as a PART of the "gift of Salvation" that only Christ on the Cross provides, then you are denying the Cross by trying to add water baptism to the finished work of Christ.

Are you born again?
Not water baptized, but born again by the Spirit of God, as Water can't do that for you.
If so....when you get to heaven, go directly to the "dying thief on the Cross", and tell him that he is not really saved, because according to your CHURCH, he can't be, as he was not water baptized.
You have been shown scripture that speaks to the need for everyone to repent, be water baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. These requirements were never rescinded. Many preach/teach otherwise but I find that is not the case in scripture.

Yes, I am born again.

As to the thief on the cross died prior to Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. He was not responsible to obey the NT mandates. They began in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost and afterward would be required of all nations. This according to Jesus. (Luke 24:47)

No, i have been show your theology that came from your Church, that teaches the Holy Ghost and Water Baptism, are identical situations.

You have been shown that REPENTANCE, is not "confessing sin" "in the water".
And you have been shown that the heresy of "baptismal regeneration" is created by the Catholic Water Cult and infected many sub-denominations.

"Spiritual Rebirth" is not connected to water.
How can you tell? Because WATER only touches your BODY, and the SPIRIT is INSIDE the body......where only GOD can touch it.

See, the city water supply can't save anything.
Its just water.

Spiritual Rebirth can only be caused by God's Spirit.

You presume too much. You know nothing of me or my church. You can repeat the lie over and over that I am saying Holy Ghost and water baptism are identical. They are not and I have never said so. What I did say is what the bible teaches, both are required.

Yes, the Catholic Water Cult.......or the "cult of Mary", began this false gospel of "water saves", long ago.

What is the Tragedy? Its that many thousands went to hell today and tomorrow, all water baptized.
And why did the water baptized go to hell?

Because Jesus said......'you must be born again".......and WATER can't cause that, yet CULTS teach that it does and this has sent millions to hell, because they believed it.

Let me find out..

Do you believe that you can go to heaven....that you can be born again, and never be water baptized?

You stated I said they are identical. They are not.

After believing in Jesus' sacrifice and repenting both are required to gain entrance into heaven according to the word.

After believing in Jesus' sacrifice and repenting both are required to gain entrance into heaven according to the word.
So no water is required?
That is true.

And what you wrote is true
The person repents from Unbelief, by BELIEVING In Jesus.
And the reason that God as Christ on the Cross is the only way to go to heaven, is because its only God's Blood that is THE eternal sacrifice for sin of the world.

See, God's Blood is forgiveness for the entire world's sin.........>"for God so loved THE WORLD".......you see, .... THat He gave Jesus...

However, that blood sacrifice and death of Jesus, this REDEMPTION..... is only applied to a person when Faith in Christ is Given to God.

Do you realize that it is through Jesus' name that one's sins are remitted? When does that occur according to the word?

Hint:
Acts 10:43-48
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.

Many are oblivious to the fact that forerunners of the Catholic Church distorted the way in which water baptism is to be performed. They removed the all powerful name of the Lord Jesus in 325 A.D. Many churches today follow a manmade tradition rather than what is presented in the word.

Acts 4:12
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Hi.. if I may.. did we not notice "baptism" is not even talked about there. It says "born" of water. Would seem were adding a word that is not even talked about..
